A New Concept for Elimination of Waste Plastic.

This project is to eliminate the threat posed by Waste Plastic which is omnipresent. This project is devised in such a way that It will make a reciprocal benefit i.e. while Waste Plastic is eliminated, income & employment can be generated without making any negative reaction. It aims to be low investment oriented and environment friendly. It is without any technological complications and is manageable by non technical common man. This project fulfills these aims and makes everlasting solution for threat of Waste Plastic. It can be implemented anywhere and anytime with minimum requirements. The end product has wide application in construction fields.

The innovative aspect of the project is reinforcement of waste plastic within a concrete block. Here the waste plastic collected from various sources is converted to tiny(1mm) particles using a cross cut Plastic Shredding Machine which is mixed in a concrete mixer with concrete in a better ratio. A suitable quantity of this mixture is inserted inside an ordinary concrete block at the time of molding so that it will remain as insulated at all sides in about two inch thickness or more as per the decided size of the block. The concrete block is reinforced with plastic/plastic coated wire mesh so that the plastic mixture will remain firmly at the central part. The wire mesh will act as a container inside the block at about two inches or so up and down and in sides. In an experimental trial, the block has been found to be strong as much as any other brick or block.

The increasing threat posed by Waste Plastic is formidable before the humanity. To check this threat is the main aim of this Project. When it is implemented, fortunately it will make a reciprocal benefit, that is, elimination of waste plastic on one hand and income and additional employment opportunity without making any reaction of any type to the environment on the other. Here the end product will get good demand in construction field..

It is anticipated it should make profitable return from the investment whatever it be. Here, one construction block of 12 x 6 x 6 size can contain at least 250 gram of waste plastic. As a result, 1,00,000 construction blocks will contain 25000 kilo gram of waste plastic per annum. If one hundred block making units are established, 2500 tons of waste plastic will be used in construction field.

The production cost is estimated to US$ 0.28 and it can be sold at US$ 0.35 or so. Government or Local Self Governments can take initiative to encourage entrepreneurs to take up its production by giving subsidies and ensuring the availability of waste plastic free of cost. As such a unit producing 1,00,000 numbers of block can earn at least US$13000 -00 per annum as net profit. Thus it serves as twin purposes viz. elimination of waste plastic and income and employment through this social service.

So you are requested to explore the possibilities to check the threat of Waste Plastic through this innovative project. The Project is under the consideration of a European organization engaged in environmental matters. A renowned plastic related concern in India expressed this as a “very interesting concept� and the same is under their studies. Experimental models manufactured seemed to be very competent when trialed.

Collection of Waste Plastic is seemed to be a challenging task. We have a plan to face this challenge too. The carry bags are one of the main plastic items that contribute largely for creating pollution worldwide. Almost all the carry bags are going to households from where it is thrown away in-discriminatively. So it is planned it to be arrested at the point of end use.
