Vikes and its partner organization MISA Tanzania have provided internet training for more than 700 journalists, editors and journalism tutors in Tanzania. Key skills that the journalists have learnt include searching for information online, fact-checking, and improved data security. No training focusing on the journalistic use of the internet was offered in Tanzania before the first Vikes project started at the University of Iringa in 2006.
The 28-page evaluation report was produced by Henri Purje, an independent media consultant based in Dar es Salaam. Main sources of information were key informant interviews conducted in Tanzania with dozens of project beneficiaries and other media stakeholders.
