PRACTICE 1: HERBAL TEA Make a tea by boiling 1 teaspoon each of fennel seeds, cumin seeds, and coriander seeds in a glass of water. Let it steep for 2-4 minutes. Strain, and drink twice a day.

PRACTICE 2: SALAD Make a salad or stir-fry of Minced garlic, Shredded cabbage, thinly sliced red bell pepper and chopped onion in olive oil. Season with black pepper and consume 34 times a week. This salad contains essential minerals that boost kidney function.

PRACTICE 3: FRUITS AND JUICES Some fruits are especially beneficial for the kidneys, like watermelon, cranberries, apples and blueberries. They should be added to milkshakes, smoothies, salads or eaten raw more often.

PRACTICE 4: YOGA ASANA Some yoga asanas specifically target the kidneys and enhance their function. They are: Veerasana, the hero’s pose; Bhujangasana, the cobra’s pose; and Dhanurasana, the bow’s pose. Apart from these poses, a yoga regime should be adapted so that disorders do not get a chance to develop, in the first place.

PRACTICE 5: GINGER THERAPY This technique is an ayurvedic procedure for relieving painful, inflammatory and toxic conditions of the kidneys. This eases pain related to kidney stones and all kidney conditions in general. However, you should not attempt to do this alone because of the possibility of scalding.
