Farewell to Donna & Mel Donna has been a recognizable face in Bellingham for quite a while. In the eighties she owned Tapestry–a knitting and weaving supply shop in downtown Bellingham. She nurtured her love for books by working at Wilson Library before coming to work for Village Books and Paper Dreams in 2008. Always an appreciated perfectionist, you would have seen her busily focused on buying used books or happily recommending her much-read and loved fiction. Enjoy your well-earned retirement, Donna!
We'll miss you!
When you talk to Mel, you really don't know what you will hear next. Mel Ericson is the bookseller customers would go to for the latest in history books. But the staff know to go to Mel for both crazy stories and profound expertise; from how to wire a house to how to buy a car, from how to fix a toilet to how to do, well, anything at all. Mel always has the answer. Mel did a ton of work for the store that was never seen by customers but was very much needed. His devotion to his job was never-ending. Enjoy your lovely garden, time with family, and a dram of well-aged scotch now and then, Mel.
