KEITH HART President - The Hart Agency Chairman & Honoree - 2022 Long Island Hospitality Ball Welcome to the 10th Long Island Hospitality Ball 2022! I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for being chosen as one of this year’s honorees. I can’ t believe it’s been 12 years since the first Hospitality Ball! These last two years during the pandemic hiatus really sent the hospitality industry jumping through hoops. I am glad to see us finally getting back to normal. Unfortunately, we lost some great people from our LIHB board, Dante Paganini, Rich Alino, and Bobby Hepworth.The industry and your loved ones truly miss you. I have been in the nightclub, bar, restaurant, and the wine & spirit industry since I was 18 years old (the legal drinking age at that time!).That’s over 40 years of my life and I can honestly say it has been a great ride.Throughout the years I have received many accolades but none of them is as important as being honored and being a part of the Hospitality Ball Committee. Looking back on my years in the industry I appreciate every experience; the good, the bad, the fun & sometimes downright ugly.While in high school, my Uncle Bobby put me to work at The Rusty Nail in Queens, cleaning toilets then bar-backing, then working my way up to being the bartender. Flash forward to Tony Greco, Carmine Martuscello & the Paccione brothers, believing in this boy from Queens to be their promotional manager in one of the top nightclubs in NY, Uncle Sam’s & SPIT. But you know what they say, behind every great success is- failure. I had a few but the biggest was in the 80’s, failing at the first restaurant I went partners in. It was called Champions, across the street from Nassau Coliseum. I quickly learned that in the industry, being broke you’re a joke, and being broke is no joke! I had to pick myself up from rock bottom and during that process realized who my true friends were, like Dante Paganini, Greg Bartolotta, Billy Wolfe & Richard Rubenstein. Of course, the failure of Champions Sports Bar also brought me to one of the biggest crossroads of my life, which lead me to the birth of the Hart Agency in the early 1990’s. My girlfriend at the time, Maureen Ruggles and I wanted to make extra money selling roses in nightclubs, and it took off far more than anyone ever imagined. Next came Polaroids, Jell-O liquor shots, shots, Newport cigarettes, Microsoft, Miller Lite, and Molson. Later was Peerless, Charmer, Opici and more recently Empire & Southern Glacier and much more. Firstly, I’d like to thank my partner, Larry Golus. He may always be the man behind the scenes, but everyone knows he’s the true boss of the Hart Agency. He has been responsible for keeping me organized and running a smooth operation for over 30 years. I would like to give a very special thanks to MariaElena who works endlessly to make this event possible. She not only keeps me on track but is detailed-oriented making sure everything runs smoothly. Also, I would like to extend my gratitude to the committee members and the executive committee for all their valuable time and hard work that makes an event of this caliber possible. Next, to our partners from the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, Anne Line, Jeanette Zirogiannis and Dr. Brian O’Hea, Director of Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center with whom it has been a pleasure working with over the last few years. Long Island Hospitality Ball HONOREE - GREG CLEMENT Greg Clement is the Vice President of Commercial Operations for Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of New York. In his current role, Greg leads the Commercial Operations Center of Excellence team in managing major strategic initiatives and supports national, regional and local projects along with the implementation of all commercial tools and processes throughout the Commercial Business Units. Greg has over 20-years of experience in the Wine & Spirits industry. In 1998, his career in the industry began in an administrative role at Seagram Americas where he states his biggest responsibility was “ordering lunch & filing”. From here, he worked his way up through the organization to positions with the Absolut Company and eventually to National Category Manager. From Seagram, Greg moved to Pernod Ricard USA spending his first 5 years there helping to build the organization’s National Accounts Team before moving on to market management of New York & Delaware. In 2011, Greg joined Southern Glazer’s New York to manage the Pernod Ricard Portfolio before moving into Commercial Operations as the NYS Senior Director, which led to his current leading Commercial Operations for the state. Greg’s strategic mindset, ability to drive change and desire to excel, coupled with his extensive experience at both the supplier and wholesale tier are just a few of the reasons he’s been an asset to some of the leading companies in the wine and spirits industry. Greg is a life-long resident of Long Island and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Management from Hofstra University and lives in Massapequa with his wife, Jessica, and their three girls, Juliana, Brielle and Brooke.

Long Island Hospitality Ball 2022 ED LOWE MEDIA AWARD CAROL SILVA Carol Silva is the veteran, Emmy Award-winning news anchor from News 12 Long Island. For decades she had the honor of sharing people’s lives from the News 12 anchor desk. She also reported from Ground Zero, followed Popes and Presidents, and covered state and Congressional politics from Albany, Washington, New Orleans, and Texas. Just as important, she heard her viewers’ stories in their kitchens, workplaces, and schoolyards. Carol’s three Emmys are among her more than 40 journalism awards. She has been inducted into the prestigious Silver Circle of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences (the Emmy people) and into the Long Island Journalism Hall of Fame. After receiving her 2018 Honorary Doctorate from New York Institute of Technology she delivered their commencement speech, focusing on what happens after that first job rejection letter. (For 33 years Carol proudly hung her first Cablevision rejection letter on the wall of her News12-Cablevision office!) In 2019 Carol got a standing ovation from the packed New York Marriott Marquis Ballroom, where she’d lead the International Women in Cable Telecommunications leadership panel on empowering women on the job. Carol has done hundreds of appearances motivating women, girls, students, and anyone who’ll listen about coming back from defeat and the power of helping each other. A Mexican American, Carol is a Suffolk County Police Department Hispanic of the Year and a Role Model for the Nassau County Hispanic Cultural Association. Today Carol is focused on those life moments that may feel like devastating setbacks, but turn out to be stepping-stones to something greater. Her “The Silva Lining” podcast is available on Apple, Spotify or anywhere podcasts are carried because Carol believes everybody has a story worth sharing.

In 2010 you called each of us individually and told us your experience in your fight against cancer had given you the epiphany that giving back can be better than taking. The magic trick that you pulled off was taking the kings of an industry and asking them to “leave their ego at the door” to become one force to be reckoned with. It does take a village to raise close to $4 million over 10 events, but without the quarterback/head coach this feat never happens. You not only inspired us to work six months out of the year for one night every June, but you rolled up your sleeves yourself and did the work alongside each of us. What started as a little party at Carlyle on the Green…became the biggest event of the year, featuring 3000 of the Who’s Who of Long Island, and hundreds of entertainers, vendors, culinary, libations and hospitality businesses from Elmont to Montauk. We always said that we would never honor anyone on the board to selflessly recognize our other colleagues, but we all agreed this day had to come. Monday, June 27, 2022 we honor the mayor of our industry and a mentor to us all. The efforts from Hart Agency who really drive this bus is a reflection of your leadership.
