Kalpataru Day On a solemn note, the Kalpataru Festival began at 6:15 am on t he fir s t of January 2018. The Temple of Sri Ramakrishna wore a decorated look. The Mangalarati at the Temple was the first activity performed in the New Year. S w a m i Satyalokananda led the assembled devotees in hymnal chanting and bhajans. Welcoming every one present, Swami Vimokshananda underlined the importance of Kalpataru Day in the lives of all devotees. He said that this day coincided with the birth tithi of Swami Turiyananda, one of the Direct monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. He also conveyed the blessings of Most Revered Swami Shivamayananda ji Maharaj, Vice-President of the Ramakrishna Order to everyone. He further said that the health condition
of Revered Maharaj was improving. Swami Durgananda, the Secretary to the Vice-president Maharaj briefly explained about the Kalpataru and read out the relevant passages from the celebrated book “Sri Ramakrishna and His Divine Play�. All devotees were served with breakfast prasad. Most Revered Vice-President Maharaj gave Darshan to scores of devotees at the Cultural Building lounge. Throughout the day people were seen coming and participating in the Japa Yajna session that began after the breakfast and continued till 12 Noon. In the evening session, after arati to Sri Ramakrishna, a large number of devotees participated in the bhajan singing. About 300 people visited the ashram on the auspicious Kalpataru Day.
