"Halloween at Brite Star is here! Costumes, candy, and cheer. But remember," said Teacher Lisa, "staying safe is our main idea!"

"Emma

picked a costume that shone bright. 'Why should costumes be bright or reflective?' she asked. 'So cars can see you in the dim light!' answered Teacher Lisa."

"Lucas tried on masks, finding one that fit just right. 'Can I wear a mask that covers my eyes?' he asked. 'Choose one that doesn't disguise your eyes!' Teacher Lisa advised."

"Miguel and his parents tested makeup before the night. 'Why should we test makeup before?' he wondered. 'To avoid itches, rashes, and more!' his mom explained."

"Sara and her brother mapped their trick-or-treat way. 'Should we trick-or-treat on unknown streets?' she asked. 'No, let’s stick to the streets we know!' her brother advised."

"Billy, Cindy, and Johnny carried flashlights bright. 'Are flashlights just for seeing the way?' Billy inquired. 'They also let others see us, hooray!' Cindy chimed in."

"Sam inspected her candy bag with care. 'Can I eat unwrapped candy?' she questioned. 'No, wrapped ones are fine and dandy!' Teacher Lisa replied."

"Ralph and Tony agreed, 'Walk, don’t run, even if for fun. Trips and falls are not welcome!' 'Is it okay to run between houses?' Ralph asked. 'Walking's safer for us and our costumes!' Tony confirmed."

"Always cross the street at corners," Teacher Lisa advised. "Holding hands and looking both ways, safety is no surprise. 'Can we jaywalk for a quick trick-or-treat?' Lucas wondered. 'Crosswalks are the best, safe and neat!' Teacher Lisa said."

"After trick-or-treating, a party at school awaited. Games, treats, and stories, all safety-related. 'Can parties be as fun as trick-or-treating?' Emma asked. 'Absolutely, with games and greeting!' Teacher Lisa answered."

"The Brite Star Kids shared stories of their night. 'What was your favorite part of tonight?' Miguel asked. Halloween in Brite Star!' Sara replied."

"Safe in their beds, the kids dreamt of their Halloween play. 'Till next year,' they whispered, 'what a wonderful day!'"

2. How does planning your route improve safety?

3. Why is it important to walk, not run, while trick treating?
