"A new horse has arrived at Brite Star Ranch, but something isn’t right. He looks scared… and sad.”
Missy asked, "Who is he, Tom?"
Tom replied, "His name is Mr. Rodgers. He’s been through a lot." Mr. Rodgers shifted nervously, his ears flicking back as he watched everyone.

"Mr. Rodgers wasn’t treated kindly at his last home. He needs love, patience, and time to heal.”
Nana said, "Poor thing. He doesn’t trust people yet."
Sam asked, "How can we help him feel safe?"

"Missy tries to get close, but Mr. Rodgers doesn’t trust her yet.”
Missy said, "It’s okay, boy. You’re
safe here."
Mr. Rodgers snorted and stepped back, unsure.

"Missy and the 4 Sisters know that trust takes time. So, they sit quietly and let Mr. Rodgers get used to them.”
Ken said, "We’ll just stay here, so he knows we’re not scary."
Brooke added, "Yeah, no sudden moves." Mr. Rodgers watched them from a distance, his ears twitching as he listened.

"Slowly, Mr. Rodgers begins to see that these humans are different.”
Missy said, "Here, boy. No tricks, just a snack."
Mr. Rodgers hesitated, then took a cautious step forward.

"Missy spends time near him every day, letting him know she won’t hurt him.”
Mr. G smiled, "She’s got patience, just like her mama did."
Tom nodded, "That’s the only way to earn trust."
Mr. Rodgers stood closer than before, listening to Missy’s voice.

"And then, one day, a small miracle happens…”
Missy
said, "That’s right, boy. It’s just a blanket. You’re safe now."
Mr.
Rodgers exhaled deeply, relaxing just a little.

"It takes time, but soon, Mr. Rodgers starts to trust Missy.”
Missy laughed, "Well, look at that! You’re saying thank you, aren’t you?" Mr. Rodgers nuzzled her again, this time with more confidence.

"For the first time, Mr. Rodgers feels like he belongs.”
Clover said, ”Bow
Wow"
(Dog translation: "Welcome!")
Mr. Rodgers lifted his head, looking out at his new home.

"To make Mr. Rodgers feel truly at home, the girls prepare a special place just for him.”
Sam
said, "He needs a cozy stall of his own."
Whit added,
"And lots of fresh hay to keep him comfortable!"
Missy smiled,
"We want him to know he’s safe here."

"That night, Mr. Rodgers slept soundly for the first time in a long while. He was finally home.”
Nana said, "Trust can’t be rushed. But with kindness, patience, and love, even the most broken hearts can heal."
Missy whispered, "Welcome home, Mr. Rodgers."

"With every rescued animal, Brite Star Ranch becomes more than just a home—it becomes a family.”
Mr. G said, "You
girls have done something special today."
Missy nodded, "And
we’ll keep making sure every animal that comes here knows they’re safe."

Think About:
1. Why was Mr. Rodgers afraid when he first arrived at Brite Star Ranch?
2. How did Missy and the 4 Sisters help him learn to trust again?
3. What can we do to help animals who have been mistreated?
