Camp Brite Star, Safety First

Lindsey stood by the campfire area, the kids gathered around her with curious expressions. “Today,

we’re

learning about safety,” she announced.

“Knowing how to stay safe at camp helps us all have fun!”

Lindsey pointed to the campfire pit.

“Fire can be dangerous if we’re not careful,”

she said.

“Always stay a safe distance away and never play near the fire.”
Lindsey showed the

kids a small first-aid

kit. “We keep a first-aid kit nearby in case someone gets hurt. Knowing where it is and how to use it helps us be prepared.”

At the edge of the lake, Lindsey held up a life jacket. “When we’re by water, it’s important to wear a life jacket,” she explained. “It

keeps us safe while we’re swimming or boating.”

Lindsey paired the kids into buddy teams. “Whenever we go on an adventure, we use the buddy system,” she said. “This way, we always have someone looking out for us.”

“If you ever get lost, stay where you are and shout for help,” Lindsey said, showing them a map of the camp. “Knowing your surroundings can help us find you quickly.”

Lindsey pointed to a sturdy shelter nearby. “If

we ever have a storm, head to a safe spot like this,”

she explained. “It’s

important to stay dry and out of harm’s way.”

As they walked through the campgrounds, Lindsey reminded them, “If

you see an animal, stay calm and keep your distance. Animals are friends, but they need space too.”

Lindsey held up a whistle. “This is an emergency whistle. If you need help, blow it loudly three times. That’s our signal for help.”

Lindsey had the kids practice calling for help, just in case. “Let’s use our voices if we’re ever in trouble,” she said.
“Knowing how to ask for help is an important part of staying safe.”
As they wrapped up the lesson, Lindsey said, “By following these safety rules, we’re all taking care of each other. When we know how to stay safe, camp is more fun for everyone!”

Think About:

1. Why is it important to follow safety rules at camp?

2. How can the buddy system help keep us safe?

3. What would you do if you ever felt lost?

Let's Work Together: By learning and practicing safety, we make camp a safe and happy place for everyone. Safety is something we all share and help each other with.

I Will: I will remember to follow safety rules and look out for my friends, so we can enjoy our adventures safely.

The Importance of Knowing: Knowing safety rules helps us stay safe, confident, and prepared for anything, making our camp experiences even more enjoyable.
