n the centre of Tambo, EE Parr Park features an enclosed playground with climbing frames, swings and see-saws. There’s also a skate park and half basketball court. The Tambo Dam Park has plenty of space for the kids to burn off excess energy. Schedule a stop for lunch and fire up the free barbie. Between September and April, you can cool off in the Tambo pool. Entry is free from 3.30pm daily. Blackall’s pool is open all year round, the beach edge is perfect for toddlers to play in and there is plenty of recreational space for older children. If a swim is not in the plan, Bank’s Park along the main drag has children’s slides and jungle gyms. The large undercover eating area also has free BBQs. Ram Park will give the kids a glimpse of what life was like in days gone by. There are certainly no computers or iPads in the Yalleroi Schoolhouse! If you’re stopping for a while make sure the kids bring their scooters and skate boards, Blackall has a large undercover skate bowl in the park beside the memorial hall on Short St. Don’t forget to capture the memories, take a few family
insta moments at the Roly Poly, Wild’n’Woolly, the People’s Sign and at the only Teddy Bear Crossing sign in Australia. And of course, you can always splash out and buy them their very own Tambo Teddy – that should keep them settled for a few miles!
