Jewellery, homewares, artworks and Indigenous artifacts are all to be found by the curious shopper, as well as fashions, food and fun things for the kids. Not surprisingly, the main street of Airlie Beach is dotted with souvenir shops with colourful
swimwear, sarongs, sandals and sunhats swinging from rails on the footpath. For a unique experience, check out Proserpine’s lanes and alleyways with their striking ‘Art Deco’ shopfronts. Don’t forget to check out the great boutique offerings in Bowen too.
MARKETS Markets are a highlight of holidaying in The Whitsundays with brightly coloured clothing, jewellery, bags and sarongs glinting in the sunshine. The smell of fresh produce mingles with the aroma of coffee, as locals and holidaymakers ponder over bric-a-brac, books, paintings and homemade crafts.
