Editorial There’s no denying that we live in a fast-moving world, and so it comes as no surprise that the brands are seeking to innovate with increasing speed, trying to keep up with the ever-changing demands and preferences of their customers. They want to remain competitive and to do that, their products need to stand out. However, standing out becomes more challenging than ever before as current innovative technologies allow design to be much more creative than ever before. However, every designer ought to keep in mind that the packaging should always look to add simplicity, authenticity and meaning. Trends may come and go, but they’re most impactful when communicating the values of a brand and helping to create a human connection. Personalisation is one of the most notable trends these days as every brand is unique, has its particularities, and wishes to reflect them in their packaging. It is therefore our goal to help perfect the whole design in such a way that it reflects the singularity of the brand. The Design Options of our closure are as wide and rich as the imagination of anyone who uses it. Speaking of imagination – we’re thrilled to introduce Vinolok Premium, a new collection which represents heritage, provenance and authenticity, just as the brands and spirits the closure will appeal to. This unique closure allows combining various materials with the singular properties of the Vinolok closure.
Inspiration is the word we feel closely linked to. It is part of our mission to inspire people around us, and in this magazine we reveal several new packaging concepts to show how flexible the design of the glass closure is and how it can react to specific demands of every individual project. We hope you’ll find your inspiration on the following pages. I wish you an enjoyable reading.

Introducing Vinolok Premium
NEW PRODUCT

AUTU M N 2017
We’re thrilled to introduce a new addition to the collection of Design Options: Vinolok Premium. Following the market trend of consumers who aren’t necessarily looking for excess, but rather for simple luxury, we want to help the premium brands to achieve a harmonized, high-quality image. The premium quality of the product is associated with the appearance of the package and Vinolok Premium completes the luxurious look of any bottle. The new collection and its creation is the result of the latest glass industry innovations, our glass-making tradition and know-how, and the market demand. Vinolok Premium is closely linked with the heritage, provenance and authenticity reflecting our history. We gave the world Bohemian Crystal and today our R&D laboratories are constantly developing innovative new products. Every year we push beyond the limits of what is possible with glass and crystal. Glass can be moulded into virtually any shape for a unique profile, to reinforce a brand image or build shelf distinction. We all know that every individual is unique, so why should mass brands ignore that and treat us all the same? Thanks to customisation of packaging and labels customers feel that the producer is doing something special for them; that they are holding something exclusive and tailormade. This unique closure allows combining various materials with the singular properties of the Vinolok closure. Glass closure is the natural choice for premium packaging.
To give everyone some inspiration, we came up with six basic concepts which show how the closure can be modified and what the options are. vi nolok .com/pr e m i u m

Drawn by a common passion for craft distilling, a group of friends came together to create a new kind of distillery, producing handcrafted, artisan spirits with uncompromising quality. In an extraordinary location on the Duke of Northumberland’s Albury Estate, a group of dilapidated farm buildings on the banks of the legendary Silent Pool has been transformed to become the home of the Silent Pool Distillers.
As the principle ingredient in gin is juniper berries, which once grew abundantly in the Surrey Hills, it made perfect sense to be based there. With a vision of creating handcrafted, premium spirits, the distillery was located on the bank of the spring-fed Silent Pool. The crystal-clear water, which springs from a deep, natural aquifer, is the inspiration for their flagship Silent Pool Gin. Each of the 24 unique botanicals is carefully selected and, where possible, locally sourced. The pulse of this outstanding landscape beats right through the heart of the distillery and the spirits that are produced there. The multi-award winning Silent Pool Gin is produced in small batches using a custom made still which is heated by steam from a reclaimed English boiler that’s fired on local hardwood. It is all very labour intensive, but well worth the effort to create a delicate, complex and internationally acclaimed gin that is rolling out across the globe.
The design of the bottle combines a physical representation of the complex flavour combinations needed to create a one-of-a-kind gin with the mythology of Silent Pool. The striking aqua-green waters of the pool are embodied in the glass and stopper colour and the copper decoration is inspired by the copper of the beloved Holstein still used to distill the handcrafted gin. The intricate copper illustrations entwine elements of the legend of a doomed maiden pursued into the pool by Prince John, and all 24 of the botanicals used to create Silent Pool Gin’s refined profile. si le ntpooldisti lle rs.com

I often had bad experience with natural cork – not always cork taint, but quality of wines with natural cork was not good and consistent. With glass closure I have managed to avoid this. Istvan Szepsy Jr., owner of Szent Tamás, Hungary
We have bottled five different wines of 2003 vintage with different types of closures and have organized a comparative tasting. And customers preferred Vinolok closure! Nowadays, we use Vinolok for all our wines.
I love the tradition and it is very important to us as a five-generation family winery. However, when tradition lets you down as it has with cork, then it is time to look for better closures.

Vinolok and its parent company Preciosa created a special product to celebrate the pristine region where the world-famous Bohemian Crystal was born over 300-years ago.
About 15,000 years ago the glaciers covering the
The Crystal Valley is located in the heart of Europe,
mountains of northern Bohemia started to thaw. The thawing water seeped through geologically favourable places into the ground and started to collect in the depths of the Earth, where its purity has been preserved to this day. In the same place lies a region called the Crystal Valley, the land of stories. It is the only place on Earth where over 460 years of glassmaking tradition, unique natural resources, and love for glass, come together. And it is also home of Preciosa, the parent company of Vinolok. The special limited edition of Crystal Valley Water celebrates both the region’s natural wealth and also the local craftsmanship and glassmaking talent. The secrets of Master Glassmakers are passed from one generation to the next and despite the implementation of new technologies in glass production, some traditional processes cannot be replaced with anything else. A perfect glass product will always require a glassmaker’s trained eye and touch of the hand. More than 300 years ago, the Crystal Valley gave birth to Bohemian Crystal. Soon after came the first cut and polished stone in the world, the first majestic chandelier, and the tiniest of treasures, the glass seed bead. It was also here that man first created magical, sparkling, ever-enduring crystal jewellery.
in the northern regions of the Czech Republic. The first glass kiln was fired up in 1548 in the midst of the natural splendour of the Jizera and Lusatian Mountains. Since then, the uninterrupted tradition of fine glass craftsmanship led to the creation of many companies, including Preciosa, which became one of the most important glass companies in the world. It wouldn’t be possible without the unique natural environment and inheritance of the Crystal Valley and local craftsman. Day in and day out, each little piece of brilliant glass comes to life thanks to the talents of Preciosa glassmakers, and the imagination of its designers. All this has led to the development of the Crystal Valley Water which comes from a local source and embodies the history of the region and also modern approach to glassmaking. preciosa.com
