: 00 00 INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task which needs to be accomplished. It is the practice of doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones or carrying out less urgent tasks instead of more urgent ones, thus putting off impending tasks to a later time. Sometimes, procrastination takes place until the “last minute” before a deadline. People may procrastinate on personal issues, health issues, home care issues, or academic obligations. Procrastination can lead to feelings of guilt, inadequacy, depression, and self-doubt. Procrastination is related to numerous people, and most procrastinators do not exactly know what to do to get through even though they have downloaded many apps and written to-do lists or read books about how to beat procrastination. Accordingly, helping them get started is the key to helping them stop procrastinating. Most of the procrastinators do not have clear goals and do not know how to split a huge project into small steps. Also, the misperception of time makes them think they still have more time left to finish up their works. Poor self-control can’t keep them working effectively.

5 TOPICS Procrastination Talking to myself Racial discrimination OCD Peeping into other’s lives
TOPIC: PROCRASTINATION Some people like to put off things that they should be focusing on right now. Sometimes, they are afraid they will fail, and they lack the motivation to do it. I will investigate how to help procrastinators tune out distractions and focus on the tasks. TOPIC: TALKING TO MYSELF A certain group of people likes to talk to themselves in most of the time. They are too shy to talk with other people because they do not have confidence and care too much about the judgment of others. I will investigate how to help them to build self-confident and be willing to share their ideas and life experiences with other people.
TOPIC: OCD Some people feel unable to stop doing some particular things over and over again. OCD involves problems in communication between the front part of the brain and deeper structures of the brain. I will investigate how to help them stop thinking their thoughts and be willing to accept the risk. TOPIC: PEEP INTO OTHER’S LIVES Some people like to peep into other people’s daily lives behind the windows. The curiosity drives people to explore other people’s secrets. Being hidden also brings excitement to their tedious lives. I will investigate how to distract their attention from peeping.
TOPIC: RACIAL DISCRIMINATION People of color have still failed to gain any respect in this world. The history gives people an bad impression of African-Americans and the ignorance of other cultures, religions, and values also fosters prejudices against blacks. I will investigate how to raise awareness of eliminating prejudices and treat everyone as an equal and competent fellow-being.

IDEA 03
FACING THE FEAR
UNDERSTANDING PROBLEMS
GETTING STARTED
Question: How can I promote the idea of facing the fear to help people overcome the procrastination? Summary: Perfectionists often set unreachable goals for themselves, which can be a major cause of procrastination. Since the goal is nearly unattainable by a mortal man or woman, they have set themselves up to fail. Their fear of failure and of making mistakes actually makes sense in a warped sort of way. I want those procrastinators to realize fear of failure is the main problem for them, and help them to overcome it.
Question: How can I create a system that helps different procrastinators identify their problems and overcome them? Summary: A lot of procrastinators don’t know why they are still procrastinating even they know there are many tools to help them. Their problem is that they never think about their own reasons for procrastinating. Since the causes of procrastination are different, those people simply use the wrong way to help themselves. I want to create a system that helps them overcome their problem by using specific techniques.
Question: How can I help procrastinators get started to working? Summary: Some people put things off simply because they think the tasks are too tough and complicated. They usually tend to do something easier which will delay the finish of the tasks. The main reason for this problem is that they lack motivation and don’t know how to getting started. What I want to do is to educate those people that procrastination is just a habit that can be changed, and help them get started to working.

SWOTs
STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES OPPORTUNITIES THREATS
STRENGTHS The services we offer are to help and inspire procrastinators to start to work effectively. They will no longer postpone their toughest task until the deadline. WEAKNESSES Time guide is the first brand that offers one-to-one tutoring and makes personal plans for customers. All the coaches are volunteers. It’s not easy for people to trust this brand. OPPORTUNITIES Currently, most of the institutes for procrastination are focusing on psychological therapy, but Time guide would be the first brand that offers personal coach, and actually helps them when they work. THREATS Some people trust authoritative therapy clinics when they really need to solve their problems. Time guide is more focused on actual experiences, but not able to offer the professional psychological treatments.

DELIVERABLES POSTERS Since the purpose of Time Guide is to help people get started working, the poster should give audiences a sense of movement. The visual element should motivate and inspire people. This is the reason that why I used arrows as the main element for the posters. Also, the various degrees of transparency on the arrows and tagline convey an energetic feeling. I chose a bus shelter in front of a cafĂŠ and a public library considering that a lot of people like to work and study in libraries or cafĂŠs. Also, some procrastinators like to hang out with friends when they are putting tasks off, so the bus shelter near shopping mall is a good placement choice.

DELIVERABLES EVENT The goal of this event is to encourage audiences to get to start to work earlier by telling them procrastination is wasting time. The coaches give audiences speeches about causes of procrastination and how to walk through it with their help. Then, playing procrastinating games together in order to educate audiences procrastination is just a habit that can be changed. The signs I designed for this event tells that the time passes fast, and the colors are vibrant in terms of inspiring audiences to take action. The event was located in San Francisco Public Library since there are a lot of people like to work and study there.

CONCLUSION There are many mental causes and physical causes of procrastination. Most of the procrastinators don’t want to start doing the tasks because they do not have clear goals and do not know how to split a huge project into small steps. I combined those findings into my initial concept. Then, I developed it into 3 different deliverables. The three deliverables I try to design will have different functions and goals, but the primary purpose of the three deliverables is to help procrastinators get started working. The three deliverables are app, event, and a YouTube Channel. The event is to let clients get to know about the services of time guide and try the coaches. The app helps customers to discover the best coaches around them and all the functions in app help them when they are doing their work. The YouTube Channel is to give customers weekly tips about beat procrastination when they are not meeting their coaches. The three deliverables are linked with each other, but each of them works separately. I hope this project will be able to help procrastinators to get started working easier.
