Chocolate Affair
Story & Photography by Tony Centonze Clarksville Parks & Recration recently hosted its annual Chocolate Affair at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center, a celebration of cocoa that features sweet and savory treats from area businesses. “We had to reschedule our Chocolate Affair this year due to Covid-19,” Kara Zahn said. “But, we’re excited to be here and already looking forward to bringing it back at its usual first Saturday in February, in 2022.” Anna Sanders & Christy Hutchison
This year’s event had to be modified a bit, for safety concerns. “It’s more of a ‘stroll’ type of event this year,” Zahn said. “Guests will walk in, grab a bag with a go container, silverware, a bottle of water and a vendor program. They’ll still be able to visit our vendors, and receive samples from everyone. Then, they can take all their goodies home to enjoy later.”

A QR Code was included on the program which allowed this year’s guests, limited to 150 each session, down from 300 in previous years, to vote for their favorite. This year’s winners were announced at the end of the day. That information is on Clarksville Parks & Rec’s Facebook page.

Categories included Best Taste, Most Creative Use of Chocolate, and Best Presentation. “We have Two Birds Coffee Co. back this year,” Zahn said. “We also have Culture Wine Bar, Life+Lemons=Cake, and some other exciting vendors. We’re excited to see what great treats they have brought for us.”
