arriage is big business in this country and it is something that nearly everyone will experience in his/her lifetime, whether you are married or not. We will all, most likely, be dragged to a wedding and asked to watch, speak at, dance after, or be witness to a wedding at sometime in our lives. As children, many of us can remember being made to dress up for family member’s wedding or being forced to attend the nuptials of a family friend of whom we were wholly unaware of until the day of the ceremony. As adults we are asked about marriage from elders and it is either a subject that we avoid or discuss at length in the hopes of one day having that magical event touch our own lives. No matter how one looks at the topic of marriage, weddings are the signature event to mark the joining of two people in matrimony.

We here at VIPSEEN Magazine like to celebrate right along with our happy couples and feel that we do so each year with the publication of our bridal issue. NIKKI JUSTIN

et’s set the scene: Nikki was a student at the University of Tennessee, getting an afternoon workout in and oblivious to anything, aside from her iPod and the treadmill. She failed to notice when a friend walked into the same gym, but the guy with her friend sure noticed Nikki. “That’s that girl, Nikki,” said Justin and, despite an offer from their mutual friend to introduce Justin to Nikki, the two didn’t meet that day: Justin was too nervous.

Fast forward a few years and both Nikki and Justin are living in Washington, D.C. The two would finally meet through a different mutual friend, and since then, they’ve always been “Nikki and Justin.” It wasn’t until after they had been together for a few years that that same friend from the gym in college would come across an old cell phone. He turned it on and looked through the text messages. At the top, was a text from Justin that said: “I just saw Nikki. I’m going to marry her someday.”

And he did.

The Proposal Nikki and Justin dated for nearly eight years before Justin proposed. It wasn’t that Justin was afraid of commitment, it was actually Nikki’s job that was holding them up. Nikki is a television journalist, and for anyone who knows anything about TV news, you know the ladder to success is filled with several stops in different cities. Justin and Nikki were in a long-distance relationship for almost the entire eight years of their relationship. While Nikki moved around from places like Maryland to Lexington, Kentucky, Justin stayed in Washington, D.C. The two flew back and forth every few weeks, until the fall of 2013.

Nikki’s contract at WLEX in Lexington was up, and although she loved the Bluegrass state, it was time to move on. Justin and Nikki decided, that it was finally time to live in the same city. So, you would think, Nikki might have an inkling that a proposal would be on the horizon? Well, you thought wrong.

On one particular weekend, it was, in Nikki’s mind, another one of her routine trips to Washington to visit Justin. He told her they would be going to a networking party for Justin’s employer (he sells software to the government). So Nikki got dressed up, ready for the “event,” and Justin sprang surprise number one on her: “I won a contest at work and they gave me a free night stay at the Hotel Monaco, want to go?” This was not unusual for Justin’s job, since salesmen are always getting perks and things of that nature. A free night in a fabulous hotel? Nikki thought ‘why not!’

Nikki and Justin checked into the hotel, and as she was getting ready, Justin popped a question; no, not *that* question, he asked her what she was going to wear to the party.

Nikki turned around and held up a little black dress. When she did, Justin was on his knees. *That’s* when he asked THE question: “Will you marry me?” Nikki was so shocked she made Justin sweat a little bit, before she finally had the wear with all to say “yes.”

Nikki’s first phone call was to her mother, Denise, then to her Dad, Miles and then to her little sisters Laura and Alyce. Each time, they feigned shock, congratulated the happy couple, and asked for pictures. Nikki said she wished her family was there to celebrate with them.

Justin finally spilled the beans that there was no work event, instead they had a reservation at a beautiful restaurant called the Tabard Inn. Justin said they had a private room reserved so they could have dinner and celebrate.

At the Tabard Inn, Justin held the door open for Nikki, and, another surprise: Her entire family, and his, was there sitting around a table together. It was the perfect proposal.

Meet The Parents Miles and Denise Burdine live in Kingsport, TN. Miles is a Colonel in the Marine Corps and the CEO of the Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce. Denise is a special education teacher in Hawkins County. They have three beautiful daughters, Nikki, Laura and Alyce.

Fun fact: All the girls in the Burdine family are named Laura. Let me explain…Laura Denise (mother, goes by Denise), Laura Nicole (Nikki), Laura Marie (this one actually goes by Laura) and Laura Alyce (goes by Alyce). Yes, it’s confusing. No, Miles’ first name isn’t Laura.

BJ and Peggy Williams live in Memphis, TN. BJ is a retired CEO and Peggy, the former head of flight attendants for Delta Airlines. The two were high school sweethearts and have two boys, Justin and his older brother Todd, who is married to Lisa and has a son, Gaston.

Choosing Castleton Farms Although they both love life in the District, Nikki knew her wedding had to be in the south.

She wanted their wedding day to be southern, but chic. Elegant, but laid back. After visiting several venues, Nikki’s last stop was a large venue in Loudon, TN called Castleton Farms. It was perfect. The name itself embodied Nikki’s vision: A castle on a farm? That’s southern chic.

Castleton Farms is roughly six venues in one, and Nikki couldn’t decide on just one spot. So, she chose them all, and even held the rehearsal dinner on the property at the pavilion in the Southern Gardens. The rehearsal dinner was thrown by the groom’s parents and featured an JANUARY 2015 | VIPSEEN | 11

adorable (and slightly embarrassing) slideshow of the couple through their young - and awkward - phases. Nikki wore her grandmother’s wedding dress for the rehearsal dinner. Her grandmother handmade the dress 65 years ago and wore it the day she married Nikki’s grandfather.

Nikki and her bridesmaids stayed the night before the wedding at The Manor, a beautiful Greek revival antebellum home with a double-wrap around porch. The Manor has several bedrooms, each with a different, but elegant theme, which is perfect because Nikki had 11 (yes 11) bridesmaids, including 1 brides-man. Nikki and her maids spent her last night as a single lady in the mansion dressed in matching oversized, monogrammed men’s dress shirts.

The venue is divided up into sections: The Carriage House Gardens, which is more than just a carriage house, includes a beautiful barn with sweeping curtains, rustic wood and a big deck overlooking the Smoky Mountains. This section also features a Pergola and Croquet Lawn.

Nikki chose the Pergola for their ceremony. It has the feel of a church with wooden pews, chandeliers, and vintage-looking window frames, but sits outside, with a background truly painted by the hand of God. Nikki will tell you, she is not a do-it-yourself type of gal, but she took on several projects that added perfect, personal details to the day. Nikki and Justin had an heirloom table set off to the side, featuring vintage, gold framed photos of their parents’ wedding day portraits and their grandparents wedding day portraits.

Nikki and her dad gave each other (unbeknownst to either of them) embroidered handkerchiefs.

Nikki’s to her dad read: “To the first man I ever loved. I’ll always be your little girl.” Her father’s gift had the words to the song “My Girl,” which was also the song they danced to.

The Dress Let’s be honest, it’s all about THE DRESS. Nikki wore a mermaid-style Vera Wang dress that was “the dress of her dreams.” She wore champagne-glittered Jimmy Choo wedges and chandelier drop earrings. Her garter was handmade by her matron of honor. Justin wore a sharp Canali tuxedo.

Post ceremony, Nikki and Justin’s guests walked to the Woodland Gardens for a cocktail hour where guests enjoyed signature drinks created by the bride and groom. Nikki’s signature drink was “Half Bear the Other Half Cat.” Rocky Top fans will recognize the lyrics, which Nikki made into a drink with sweet tea moonshine, honey liqueur and lemonade. Justin’s drink, called “Old Man Justin,” (sidebar: Justin is often referred to as the ‘old man’), containing bourbon, sherry, liqueur and orange bitters.

For the reception, Nikki switched out her veil for a Jennifer Behr crystal headpiece. Guests were ushered to the reception area in the Southern Gardens, which features a pavilion with a dance floor and chandeliers, surrounded by ponds and more lush greenery. Nikki and Justin’s guests danced the night away, enjoyed a cigar bar and UT-themed corn-hole. The nearby Vineyard Gardens was also utilized, with beautiful grape vines and string lights.

The Details • FLOWERS: white anemones with navy centers and various white blooms • DECOR: Navy with gold embellishments, burlap runners and mason jars, on shepherd’s hooks.

• CAKES: Buttercream with navy ribbon trim, and a red velvet cake that was a replica of the United States Capitol.

• FOOD: Guests enjoyed heavy hors d’oeuvre at cocktail hour followed by stations with a full dinner and an open bar at the reception • FAVORS: Koozies with “Durham, North Carolina” printed on one side and “Kingsport, Tennessee” printed on the other. The ladies were also given Cinderollies rollable, comfortable flats to dance in.

• BRIDAL PARTY: Nikki’s maids wore floor-length navy Amsale gowns in various styles with gold jewelry. Justin’s groomsmen wore tuxedos with anemone boutineers.

• FIRST DANCE: “Hey Pretty Girl,” Kip Moore 12 | VIPSEEN | JANUARY 2015

• BRIDE/GROOM GIFTS: Justin gave Nikki a diamond bangle she wore down the aisle. Nikki gave Justin a UT football helmet signed by the team and Coach Butch Jones. (Bonus: Several of UT’s starting football players showed up to the reception to present the helmet to Justin)

Bon Voyage Nikki and Justin wanted their honeymoon to be a trip-of-a-lifetime. Their honeymoon had to be in a warm destination and they wanted to stay in a luxurious over-the-waterbungalow. They decided on the Maldives, a small country in the Indian Ocean made up of a double-chain of 26 atolls. They stayed at the 5-star “Constance Moofushi” resort in a bungalow. The water is there is bluest of blues, too pretty for pictures, and it was the perfect setting for the newlyweds to soak up some sun and relax.

Nikki and Justin live in Washington, D.C. Nikki is a reporter for the CBS station and Justin is in government software sales.

Congratulations, you’re engaged! So now what do you do? The best thing you can have through this journey is a good wedding checklist. This way, if you have the basics or if you have no idea this checklist will ensure you are doing everything you need to make the big day as perfect as possible.

12 MONTHS BEFORE

• Announce your engagement to family and friends

• Sign up for a wedding website to keep your guests informed about event details, area information, etc.

• Work on the budget • Choose a wedding date – select a few days in case your first choice is booked • Choose a location and reserve your ceremony and reception site(s) • Begin a rough guest list and compile current addresses • Decide on who you’d like to have as your attendants, including your maid of honor and best man • Begin shopping for your wedding gown

6-9 MONTHS BEFORE

• Research and choose one or more bridal gift registry • Order your wedding gown and buy undergarments that you will wear with it • Order other bridal accessories – shoes, gloves and veil • Begin shopping for bridesmaids dresses • Find an officiate who will perform your ceremony • Research local vendors and book ceremony musicians, a wedding

band or DJ, photographer, videographer, caterer and florist

4-6 MONTHS BEFORE

• Select and order your wedding invitations, envelopes and thank-you cards • Select and purchase wedding favors and wedding favor accessories – boxes, personalized wedding ribbon, labels, etc.

• Purchase any desired ceremony and reception decorations – unity candles, vases, aisle runner, etc.

• Start researching wedding cake pictures and local bakeries for ideas • Book your honeymoon and verify that you have any necessary travel documents including passports and visas • Book a room for your wedding night, if you will be leaving for your honeymoon the next morning • Book hotel rooms or arrange other accommodations for out-of-town guests • Finalize your guest list and send out save-the-date cards, if using • Print out directions to the ceremony, reception, rehearsal dinner and hotel(s) for guests • Reserve transportation for you and your wedding party as well as a bus or trolley for your guests (if necessary)

2-4 MONTHS BEFORE

• Find out what your state’s requirements are for obtaining a marriage license • Order tuxedos for the groom and groomsmen • Meet with your caterer to discuss the menu and your bar/liquor needs • Meet with your officiant to discuss ceremony details, wording and wedding vows • Select wedding readings • Order your wedding cake • Buy thank-you gifts for your attendants, flower girl and ring bearer • Select and purchase wedding rings, and have them engraved if desired • Coordinate and choose a location for the rehearsal dinner • Contact party rental companies for tents, tables, arches, etc. if necessary

• Mail invitations out to everyone eight weeks prior to the wedding date and send accommodation info to your out-of-town guests

• Have ceremony programs printed

• Purchase a guest book, pen and other wedding accessories including toasting glasses, cake knife, ring pillow, etc.

• Keep your wedding web site updated with directions and event details

• Choose your hair and makeup stylists and schedule a trial for both; also book appointments to have your hair, make-up and nails done on the day of the wedding

• Review insurance information with your fiancé and check with employers to see what documents need to be updated once you are legally wed (car, home, medical, etc.)

2 WEEKS TO 1 MONTH BEFORE

• Create a seating chart for the reception and make table numbers and place cards (or have your calligrapher work on these)

ngagement: We were engaged on Friday, December 13, 2013 in New York City in a building in Rockefeller Center overlooking the big Christmas tree. James surprised Crystal by saying he had a business meeting and wanted to take her with him to see the tree. This was Crystal’s first time in New York and she was dying to see the tree. When they got to the building the employees were in on the surprise so Crystal was totally oblivious to what was going on. They went into a room with a sign outside the door that said “Skin Cancer Foundation”. They walked in and the room was lit up blue, which is Crystal’s favorite color, and the song “Mine Would Be You” by Blake Shelton was playing. The room was completely empty except for this little Christmas tree with one blue ornament on it that sat in the corner window overlooking the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. There were also blue daisies, Crystal’s favorite flower, lying beside the tree. They walked over and James told her to read the ornament, it said “Crystal, will you marry me?” She turned around and James was down on one knee holding out a ring. Of course she said yes! After they had a few minutes to take everything in, his parents and some very special friends, who had been hiding in a back room, came out to celebrate with them, they had been in on the surprise as well and helped James to get everything ready. They spent the rest of their trip enjoying New York as an engaged couple!

Wedding: Crystal and James were married on Saturday, May 24, 2014 in Kingsport at the Meadow View Marriott Cattails Golf Course. They were joined by many of their friends and family and couldn’t have had a better day for it. Pal Barger was kind enough to drive Crystal down to the golf course in his antique car, which was definitely a memorable moment that made the day even more beautiful for the couple. They had a beautiful ceremony conducted

by Morris Baker followed by an amazing reception in the Grand Ballroom of the hotel. Their wedding day was a day that both will cherish forever and they can’t say thank you enough to everyone who had a hand in making their special day everything that they wanted and more.

Honeymoon: They left a few days later for the honeymoon, which was an amazing European Cruise.

Sarah Zack

S

arah McFalls and Zack Fleming aren’t much for big cities and traffic. Maybe they’re a nice place to visit, but never to live. Since they both preferred a slightly slower pace with a strong emphasis on family & faith – and football – Carson-Newman University was a perfect fit.

Both families knew CNU well. Sarah’s Irwin family includes several alumni, including her mother and uncle. Zack’s family connection goes back to the Myers clan who produced the college’s longtime treasurer (Roy) and professor emeritus of chemistry (Albert).

In his first few weeks of college life, Zack began attending First Baptist Church on campus. He was “adopted” by the Hawkins family, who pledged to nurture and support him. What Zack didn’t fully realize is that Dr. Kim Hawkins is chair of the Education Department and Dr. Merrill Hawkins is a professor of religion. The Hawkins’ took Zack under their wing and made the transition a smooth one.

A year later, Sarah came to CNU and spotted Zack during chapel from the balcony of FBC. She asked her friend who he was. As fate would have it, the friend was from Kingsport and went to high school with Zack. Sarah was an education major.

Enter Dr. Hawkins. She made an introduction that caused a spark that resulted in a marriage.

Zack asked Sarah on a “date” (with several others) on a canoe trip on the Holston River from Cherokee Dam to Indian Cave in Blaine, TN. Neither knew that fateful destination would ultimately be the place he proposed marriage a year later.

Zack and Sarah were married on June 13, 2014 at First Baptist Church on the campus of Carson-Newman – the place where she first spotted him from the balcony. Sarah received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and teaches for Morristown-Hamblen County Schools. Zack received his bachelor’s in religion and master’s in education while serving as assistant linebackers coach and video coordinator for the Carson-Newman Eagles.

ometimes chocolate-ish is good enough, but sometimes nothing but the real smooth, rich, creamy confection will fit the bill. When it comes to your health and your body you don’t want to accept an imitation, you want the real deal. But, how do you know?

The American Board of Medical Specialties oversees 24 approved Medical Specialty Boards. They make sure people are really good and really trained at what they say they do. Among them are such familiar specialties as Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery. Someone who has done the rigorous training and has a thorough knowledge of his/her field and who has passed the requirements of their specialty Board can very rightly be proud to call themselves “Board Certified.” Sometimes in advertising you may find the phrase, “Board Certified” followed by “cosmetic surgeon” or other words like that describing what they intend to do, but how do you know if they are really board certified in cosmetic surgery or if that is just marketing? You could go to the website of The American Board of Medical Specialties and type in your doctor’s name and they will tell you what the doctor is Board Certified in, if anything.

There is an easier way to find out when flipping through a magazine who is chocolate-ish and who is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. It is as easy as looking for a little circle in their advertisement. The circle of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons can only be used by doctors who are certified in actual Plastic Surgery and most of them will proudly display that in their ads because it is a very difficult certification to achieve. It sets them apart from the imitation cosmetic surgeons. Sometimes chocolate-ish is good enough, but there are sometimes when you really need real chocolate.

Savanna Scott

A

fter being together for five years some would say most people have learned the nature of the other person. They know each other’s habits, pet peeves, flaws, and each person certainly knows how they feel about the other. That’s why Scott and Savanna’s wedding was so blissful. Each one knew exactly what they were getting into on October 18th, and the overwhelming joy in their hearts was completely evident from the time they woke up.

Scott’s face when Savanna walked down the aisle was so breathless and wide eyed that you would’ve thought he had seen an angel – and that’s no exaggeration. The sheer amount of love radiating between the couple was a completely selfless love. Yes. Her dress was gorgeous, and of course the groom was handsome, but the love that filled the room was something so comforting that everyone knew this union was right. If anyone questioned it they only had to listen to the sweet vows the couple wrote for one another and their reactions as they said them. You see, everyone expects the bride to cry, but when the groom starts crying and valiantly makes jokes to cover it up, you know what’s going on is a dream come true for the both of them.

With friends and family surrounding them, Scott and Savanna were joyfully, and beautifully wed under God. The celebration lasted, like any good fairytale, up until midnight and only ended when Cinderella had to leave. But the best part of this fairytale was that Savanna didn’t run off into the night – even after the wild best man’s speech. She went off with the man of her dreams in a limo and, after a perfect night, shared the best week of her life with her new husband. The honeymoon didn’t stop when they returned from St. Petersburg though, Scott and Savanna are only beginning the rest of their happily ever after.

mory Cooper grew up in Kingsport and Bobby Mott is from Ashburn, VA. They both attended Virginia Tech and had mutual friends, but didn’t meet until after they earned their Mechanical Engineering degrees and were hired into the same department at ALTEC in Roanoke, VA. Over the next 4 years they became close friends, in fact, Amory often referred to Bobby as her “‘work husband”. They dated for 2 years until ‘Breakfast with the Balloons’ during Fun Fest 2013 when, at the last moment, Bobby surprised Amory by climbing into the hot air balloon with her and they took the ride of their lives. Once in the air Bobby dropped to one knee and asked Amory to be his wife. Family and friends greeted them on the ground with a breakfast tailgate celebration. The next year was a whirlwind of planning and parties as they prepared to marry in Amory’s family church. Rev. George Anderson, Amory and Bobby’s minister in Roanoke, began his ministry at First Presbyterian in Kingsport and agreed to come home to perform the ceremony.

Many of Amory & Bobby’s relatives and closest friends joined the happy couple on June 28, 2014, for a fairytale wedding.

Bobby’s parents Bob and Cathy Mott from Ohio hosted a Speak Easy jazz themed rehearsal celebration at Banq in downtown Kingsport. Divine Catering provided an amazing Cajun dinner while Night Moves DJ’s provided music to dance the night away. The morning of the wedding a bridesmaids’ brunch fit for a princess was held in Meadowview’s Fieldstone Cellar. Rainbow’s End went over the top in designing the spectacular floral arrangements for the wedding and at the brunch Amory received a scrapbook which contained photos of her bridal bouquet that contained special broaches and pins from 4 generations of women who love her. The girls spent the rest of the day preparing and celebrating at Posh Salon in downtown Kingsport.

In spite of the pouring rain, Maxwell Coach Co. was waiting to take the 300 or so guests from downtown Kingsport to the reception at The Foundation Event Facility on State St in downtown Bristol. The marque welcomed the new Mr. and Mrs. Mott to the celebration where in-house catering provided a fantastic dinner buffet and everyone celebrated into the early morning hours. Confection Perfection provided a stunning wedding cake and Hokie Bird groom’s cake. The story came full circle when the guests took home custom white chocolate hot air balloon favors provided by Chocolate Elegance from Gray, TN. The bride’s Maid of Honor and sister, Ashley, hired her friends from Disney to capture photos of every important event.

Bill Watkins (Orlando) captured proposal photos. Cricket and Sean Whitman of Cricket’s Photography (Orlando) captured beautiful engagement photos at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville as well as Amory’s bridal portrait at Allandale and the wedding day. Following the reception, the happy couple spent their honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. And they lived happily ever after!

On Friday, Dec. 5, Wellmont Foundation held the inaugural Night of Holiday Miracles at MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center. Proceeds from this event will benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The scenery at Night of Holiday Miracles resembled a classic Christmas Town Square. As guests mixed and mingled, they enjoyed entertainment from the Symphony of the Mountains jazz trio, as well as other local musicians and a cappella groups.

A full buffet, including a pasta station, varied meats, bruschetta, fruit skewers and domestic and international cheeses, were available. Each type of food was arranged in sections and paired with samples of special-edition micro brewed beer from Sleepy Owl Brewery, wine selections from Reedy Creek Vineyard and moonshine from East Tennessee Distillery. Another feature was the Viennese dessert display. Guests also participated in a silent auction to bid on the perfect Christmas gift. Prizes varied from gift baskets to vacation getaways.

Christmas Parades Christmas around the Tri-Cities is always a great time of year. From Historic Jonesborough and Abingdon to Johnson City and Kingsport, there is a Christmas parade and event for everyone. This year’s parade season kicked off in Kingsport on November 22nd with the 72nd annual Christmas parade down Center Street. Bristol kept the Tri-Cities in the Christmas spirit with their parade on December 4th with a beautiful presentation of carefully crafted floats. Spectators lined the famous State Street to watch and collect candy.

The parade fun had only begun.

Abingdon

Saturday, December 6th people from all over the region came out to see the Johnson City parade. As floats and parade participants made their way down Walnut Street they waved to a festive, enthusiastic crowd. Later that evening citizens of Elizabethton lined old Main Street to enjoy an old town parade. Spectators were treated to cookies and hot chocolate to warm up on a cold evening. Up the road a piece, the Abingdon Community all gathered the beautiful streets of their historic town to take part in the Christmas magic.

Last but certainly not least, Jonesborough held their parade December 13th and invited the entire Tri-Cities to take part in the festivities! Christmas is a magical time that is filled with love and good cheer, especially in this region!

Jonesborough held their annual on October 3rd, 4th and 5th in historic Jonesborough Tennessee. This was another wonderful year of great stories from all over the world. The National Storytelling Festival where tents and tellers could be found throughout the historic District is the nation’s oldest and most dynamic event dedicated to the oral tradition of storytelling.

This year’s three day event brought people out for a fun weekend of Storytelling and visiting local business. Morning until night the streets were filled with people. Many special events were held all weekend, withsome brave souls staying late for the ghost stories. There was a wine and beer garden held at the International Storytelling Center sponsored by Holston Distributing. Save the date for next year, the first weekend in October you will be glad you did.

Legislators from Tennessee and Virginia took part in a Legislative Reception held Dec. 3 at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum (BCMM).

Hosted by the Bristol Chamber of Commerce, the 2014 Governmental sponsors and the BCMM, more than 100 people were in attendance, including Chamber Gold Club Members, the Chamber Board of Directors and past Chamber Board Chairmen, as well as city officials from both Bristol, Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia. On December 1st, WCQR and the Salvation Army teamed up to have a “Bell Ringing Day” across the Tri-Cities area. WCQR staff and listeners signed up to be bell ringers throughout the day at the Mall in Johnson City, Walmart in Kingsport and Walmart in Bristol. The goal of the day was to encourage other WCQR listeners across our area to give back to the community either by being a bell ringer with the Salvation Army or any other way of volunteering throughout the community. Other WCQR listeners were spotted at the Hobby Lobby in Kingsport as well as the Walmart in Bristol, VA! Hannah Ayers, Director of Promotions for WCQR was encouraged by the turnout of listeners wanting to help. “Christmas is a season that’s all about love-we’re celebrating the birth of Jesus and the love He had for us to come to save us. So WCQR wanted to encourage our listeners to share God’s love by giving back to the poorest in our community in a big way,” Ayers said. “To be able to team up with our friends at the Salvation Army and to see our listeners come out and ring the bells to raise money for the poor and needy made this day a great way to start the Christmas season. We hope others will find a way to give back during the holidays!”

Captain Joe Irvin of the Bristol Salvation Army was thrilled by the overwhelming turnout of WCQR listeners who were excited to volunteer with the Salvation Army and says it was encouraging to see such support for the Army as the strive to “do the most good” for the poorest among us. So far, the Red Kettle Campaign has received $60,000 in donations; this year’s goal is $370,000 across the Tri-Cities. All money in the Red Kettle Campaign goes to various ministries of the Salvation Army, including helping fund their soup kitchens, shelters, and clothing programs.

Holston Home for Children

C

arter came to Holston United Methodist Home for Children after spending 3 days wide awake and unable to rest. Regularly using crystal meth his grandmother felt like she was losing him forever. He had little hope that life could ever change for him either. During his first Bible study at Holston Home, Carter found peace in a way he never thought he could. During a broken and heartfelt conversation with the Director of Christian Life, Abel Carrico, Carter found peace and forgiveness in Jesus. Since that day, he has been baptized and is learning to walk with the Lord on a daily basis. He has attained his GED and will be enrolling in college for the upcoming spring semester.

John was admitted to Holston Home after a long history of problems in school. Drug use was prevalent in his family and his mother was initially skeptical of the help being offered. After some time of building relationships with the counselors from Holston, John’s mother became more open to change. She was able to locate employment, housing, and has maintained her sobriety. With the worry about his mother lessening, John began doing much better in school. He made positive friends and stopped experimenting with drugs. As a result of their hard work John returned home and even joined the basketball team.

When Nathan took the stage to deliver the Valedictorian speech at Beacon School’s Graduation he told the story of his life and the hardships he encountered before coming to Holston Home. “I used to think that Holston Home would be a road block, something that was standing between me and where I wanted to go,” said Nathan. “But now I know that Holston Home is a ‘detour’ that all of us get to take in order to find the right path.”

These are just a few stories that reflect the work being done through Holston United Methodist Home for Children. The ministry of Holston Home began in 1895. It was during the years following the civil war that American families found themselves in great need. Many children were left orphaned and alone. As Eva Grey Hutchins describes in her book Haven in the Hills: A History of Holston United Methodist Home for Children, “Someone was needed to care for these children and the Christian community took on the responsibility of establishing orphanages.” According to Hutchins, this was also true for Holston Home. “It began through the efforts of one dedicated Methodist woman, Mrs. Elizabeth Reeves Wiley.” Little did she know that her efforts would touch the lives of so many.

From these early beginnings the Holston Home has grown to serve more than 325 children and their families on any given day with family service centers located throughout East TN and Southwest VA. For over one hundred years Holston Home has had one mission “to provide hope and healing to children and families struggling with life’s challenges.”

Last year Holston Home served over 700 children through its various programs. To fulfill the mission, staff and volunteers work to build meaningful, trusting relationships which result in wholeness and permanency for children and families. Building on the foundation of Christian principles and best-practice standards, Holston offers a broad array of services, including education, group care, adoption services, foster care, early childhood ministries, adventure programs, and Christian Life activities.

Headquartered in Greeneville, TN Holston Home has often been referred to as a “Haven in the Hills.” Rich in history and noted for its services to children and families,

this ministry continues to bless the lives of others. “We want our kids to know that Jesus wants to have a real relationship with them just like we do,” says Bradley Williams, President of Holston Home for Children. “It doesn’t matter what they have experienced or what they have done His grace is fully sufficient for all of us and a brighter future is God’s desire for them.”

The Gentlemen of the Bristol Ballet hosted a Champagne Soirée on December 6 in the Virginian Golf Club Estates. This elegant event featured fabulous local treats provided by Bristol restaurants and lots of champagne, of course! In addition to champagne, they served local wines by Reedy Creek, and even had a gourmet beer tasting by Studio Brew, a new local brewery.

The event coincided with the weekend of Nutcracker performances by Bristol Ballet at the Paramount Center for the Arts. In attendance at the event were all of the guest dancers.

These individuals are professional dancers, all based in New York City, and appeared in the 2014 Bristol Ballet Nutcracker production.

Bristol Ballet was started in 1948 by Constance Hardinge as a school for the training of young people in the art of dance. In 1966 Bristol Ballet produced the area’s first “Nutcracker” ballet, which became a long-standing favorite of children and adults alike. Michele Plescia serves as the organization’s Artistic Director, and she returned to the Tri-Cities area, and Bristol Ballet in 2004 after pursuing a ballet career, mainly in the Chicago area.

Bristol Ballet’s mission and priority has always been to train and educate people about the art of dance, through exceptional ballet training for youth, and through productions for the public. Through its long history, the organization has served tens of thousands of young dancers and audience members. Children are the main focus of our educational efforts; however, educating and entertaining all of the public are important.

Johnson City has seen plenty of expansion the last few years and we won’t see it stop anytime soon. To enhance this growth and cultivate community, two local men are creating unique experiences in our hometown. Randy Almanzor and Daniel Trigg are the brains behind SouthernSide and are bringing their newest ideas into fruition with the help of Jose Castillo.

One of their events, which has quickly gained popularity, is the Johnson City Culinary Tour with a hint of neighborhood history. Each walking tour, which consists of 12-15 people, will make stops at up to five local restaurants.

Thus far, the tours have included Wellington’s, The Label, Mid City Grill or The Willowtree Coffeehouse, Holy Taco or Buffalo Street Downtown Deli in no particular order. The Meadowview Marriott Convention Center and Resort had a full house as they hosted the Kingsport Holiday After Hours on Thursday December 4th.

Delicious food and drinks filled the room as guests from all over the Kingsport region came to attend. Old friends and new friends all were spotted and the evening gave everyone time to catch up and wish their friends and colleagues a happy holiday season.

During the middle of the evening, great prizes from around the Tri-Cities were given away to some lucky guests. Then an announcement was made about the New Year’s party that will be held at Meadowview on the 31st. People continued to mingle and make new contacts throughout the evening. The Holiday After Hours is the most exciting Kingsport After Hours and is always well attended by everyone in the community.

It is time to start preparing for Santa Train 2015! Preparation for the Santa Train happens year long as donations are prepared and accepted for distribution along the 110-mile route. This year, the 72nd annual trip, Santa and friends tossed more than 15 tons of toys, food, candy, clothing and other gifts to crowds gathered at each of the fourteen scheduled stops. The celebrity guest for the 2014 train, Amy Grant, greeted crowds at each stop and performed a couple of songs for the Kingsport crowd.

Thanksgiving Day 2014 turned out to be a cold snowy day in Johnson City, but that did not stop nearly 4,000 people from showing up for the Annual Up & At ‘Em Turkey Trot 5K. Runners and walkers gathered on Legion Street to begin the race winding through downtown. Wheelchair racers, kids, and those with dogs also participated this year. In all participants came from 38 different states including the state of Hawaii to join in the fun and festivities. Local celebrities such as the Mayor and Miss Johnson City, and Miss Historic Jonesborough also participated in the Turkey Trot. This event has become a yearly tradition and serves as a catalyst to promote community spirit.

The medical education project, formerly known as the Southwest Virginia School of Medicine, submitted its implementation plan to the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Revitalization Commission on November 15, 2014 and announced the creation of the Alliance for Rural Health.

In the last 20 years, local foods have become almost mainstream, healthcare is going through dramatic changes, and partners are coming together to connect and promote nutrition and health. In a clear demonstration of the non-partisan nature of the issues facing us today, the Governors of TN and VA have put forth initiatives that address the health of our communities.

In short, the last 20 years have not been about ASD or any other organization’s food system work in our region and the next 20 years won’t be either. What it is about is the farmer who needs training and access to markets, the student who plants a school garden and watches it grow, the food pantry participants who receive nutrition education and the need to keep our farm and forestland viable for future generations.

Exhale Fitness Studio hosted a free charity event Saturday, December 6th for a well-known coat drive. Three instructors taught a whole room full of people who were more than happy to help the great cause. The requirement to attend the free class was to bring a gently used or new coat to Exhale that morning. Exhale partnered with One Warm Coat and Youth Villages to spread the warmth of a good coat to people in communities across our region. The goal was 100 coats or more! With the help of some fabulous ladies, the goal was exceeded with a total of over 150 coats!

One Warm Coat started in 1992 with a Thanksgiving weekend coat drive at one location in San Francisco. The 2014 Santa Special AniMile and Human Race took place in Downtown Kingsport Saturday, November 22nd right before the Santa Train Arrived. The annual race has become a tradition and always kicks off the Kingsport Christmas celebrations! The flat and fast one mile course roughly follows the parade route in front of thousands of parade spectators. The event featured two races, the Human Race and the Bank of Tennessee AniMile race.

The race this year was run in honor of Rick McGill, a brain cancer survivor and long time animal lover. The race proceeds benefit the Sullivan County Humane Society.

Saturday, November 15th was a great day for thousands of families around the region. The 9th Annual Thanks for Giving, organized by Russell and Tammy Street, was a huge success with even more attendees than last year. A venue change proved to be a great choice as the Kingsport Civic Auditorium can accommodate more people. This event was founded to supply thousands of families with items they need such as clothing, house wares and winter coats, and even a few Christmas presents. “We have a whole auditorium full of house wares, coats, clothing, toys, gift items, everything that you could imagine and we have had volunteers all week here working. We have got over two thousand volunteer hours from Monday through Friday,� said Tammy Street. Two hours after opening the doors on Saturday they had more than 1,400 visitors and was one of the biggest events yet.

On Saturday, December 6th, the Annual tree lighting event took place in downtown Kingsport at Church Circle. The rain stopped just in time for friends and family to gather and enjoy the festivities.

First Broad Street UMC, Oak Hill Funeral Home, and Tri-Summit Bank offered complimentary hot beverages. Food trucks and local vendors had items for sale. The gingerbread display was once again at Regions Bank.

Entertainment was provided by First Broad Street UMC Handbell Choir, DobynsBennett’s Acappella group, Armonia, Lamplight Theater, Sullivan South Marching Band, and the “Voices of the Mountains”.

Mayor Dennis Phillips, with the assistance of a friend from “Big Brothers – Big Sisters”, counted down to the moment of lighting the tree. As the crowd joined together in singing around the tree, the spirit of Christmas was felt in Downtown Kingsport.

Lights, Camera, Holidays! On December 1st, Bristol celebrated its 34th Annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting at Cumberland Square Park in Historic Downtown Bristol. The event showcased the site’s nearly 50-foot Norwegian Spruce and its younger counterpart, a 25-foot Douglas Fir. BVU technicians decorated the pair with thousands of warm-white Christmas lights – about 30,000 of them – for a dramatic and joyous display.

The event featured live music performances, refreshments and a special visit from the Tennessee High School Viking Marching Band. As I meandered through Market and Main Street, festive lights, snowmen, reindeer and even Old St. Nick himself caught my eye. This year turned out to be cold and rainy but inside restaurants were entertaining customers with their delicious foods and small shops were enticing shoppers with their wares. It was a chance to show off their creativity before the start of the Johnson City parade. This event was sponsored by The Friends of Old Downtown and was part of the First Friday events. State Street in Historic Downtown Bristol was alive with the holiday spirit on Monday, November 24. During the free event, stores and restaurants were open and holding customer appreciation events. Special discounts were available for those doing holiday shopping, and many stores had cookies, drinks and other treats. Santa made an early appearance for pictures and to greet children.

Carriage rides were available all evening and many families and couples took advantage.

Every man, woman and child were in the holiday spirit and enjoyed the beautiful decorations and atmosphere that all the merchants created together. Thanks to the warm weather and the warmer welcome from downtown merchants, the event was very well attended. All in all, it was a great kickoff to the holiday season for Bristol!

Jonesborough Main Street Businesses held their Christmas Open House on Saturday November 29th. Many businesses offered special discounts, refreshments and give-a-ways for the eager shops, with extended shopping hours until 8 p.m. Historic walking tours were given by the Chester Inn Museum. International Storytelling Center offered free gift-wrapping.

What a great day to shop, the streets were full of shoppers and families ready to kick off the Christmas season with visits to Santa and Mrs. Claus and last but not least visits with the Grinch. This is truly a wonderful town to enjoy in the Holiday season, if you missed it, you can come visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the sleigh in front of the courthouse every Saturday in December.

The lighting of the Tree ceremony started at 6 p.m. with carolers singing on the Washington County Court House steps. Many locals and visitors came to enjoy the Holiday kick off of the oldest town in Tennessee.

The ETSU men’s basketball team made a successful and historic return to the Southern Conference on Wednesday, Dec. 3, inside Freedom Hall, as the Buccaneers defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts 96-89 in the conference opener for both teams. This was the first SoCon contest for the Buccaneers since leaving the league following the 2004-05 season.

The game, which was sponsored by First Bank & Trust Company, was promoted with the #FillFreedom slogan, and ETSU’s fans responded by providing a seasonhigh attendance number and a quality home court advantage for the Bucs.

The gathered crowd watched the Bucs match the program’s all-time record for 3-pointers in a game, as ETSU made 15 shots from beyond the arc. While the shooting performance was impressive and the Bucs built a 16-point halftime lead, the team still had to hold off a rally by Western Carolina, as the Catamounts managed to tie the game at 83-83 with less than four minutes left in the game.

However, at that point senior guard Jalen Riley scored eight of his career high 31 points in the final minutes to seal the victory. With the win, ETSU is off to its best start since the 2003-04 season with a 5-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in SoCon play.

November 1, 2014 ushered in the first snowfall of the year in the Bristol area and offered a chilly start to the annual Believe in Bristol Loft Tours in downtown Bristol. The self-guided tour started in the Believe in Bristol office and wound its way downtown stopping at various locations along Fifth Street, Sixth Street, and State Street. Homeowners and loft tenants enjoy the sights and sounds of a vibrant downtown lifestyle abundant with choices of eateries, boutiques, galleries, and a hopping nightlife and entertainment scene. According to homeowner Michael Wilson, cities are running out of real estate to develop and are beginning to focus on renovating existing structures within the city to help foster growth and attract new people and businesses to the area. The Downtown Kingsport Association’s Second Annual Holiday Loft Tour was held the first weekend in December. This tour gave area residents a chance to visit nine loft apartments around the downtown area. All lofts were decked out in their holiday finest and everyone had a warm drink and a treat for guests.

People walked from loft to loft admiring, many in disbelief, the hidden gems that Downtown Kingsport has to offer.

East Coast Wings & Grill in Johnson City was the host of The Johnson City Chamber of Commerce After Hours on Thursday, December 4th. East Coast Wings & Grill General Manager Jasen Edwards was very pleased with the immense turnout and a great time was had by all. A plethora of tremendous wings and sauces were available to everyone along with appetizers, wine and a selection of craft beers.

Last year, the Loft Tour was so successful that many residents expected to have the tour a second year. As predicted, this year’s tour was even more attended. The rainy, cold weather didn’t stop the many anxious people who were eager to support Downtown Kingsport Association in such a great fundraiser. The loft residents were also very happy and excited to welcome tourists in from the cold. It was evident that they were thrilled to show off their beautiful homes.

There were a lot of familiar faces and also plenty of new business owners who have or will shortly be joining the Johnson City Community.

Over 65 nation-wide communities hosted the St. Jude Give Thanks Walk Saturday November 22nd and the Tri-Cities was one of them. Over 500 participants showed up at the Kingsport Town Center to walk three miles around the inside of the building. The route was loaded with drinks and snacks including Seaver’s doughnuts, Starbucks coffee, a giant cookie cake from the Great American Cookie Company, fresh fruit, and pretzels from Aunite Ann’s. Two bands were playing music throughout the town center and everyone had high energy and was thrilled to be walking for such a great cause.

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Ranked one of the best pediatric cancer hospitals in the country, St. Jude is the first and only National Cancer Institutedesignated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. The organization holds this walk annually to help raise money. This year, the Tri-Cities raised $130,000 for the cause!

Serve it Up Sassy What a sweet sentiment for a letter or an invitation to a Valentine’s Day Soiree. Take a moment and send a letter or note to express your gratitude for a friendship, a heart- felt thank you for a small favor or a simple message, I am thinking about you today. This unexpected hand-written greeting will be met with great joy and comfort any day of the year but especially on Valentine’s Day. In this day of emails, texting and the absence of cursive writing, it seems like note or letter writing could become a distant memory.

Fortunately, as long as we have pens and paper and something to say all we need to do is practice the art. The art of letter or note writing is a treasured tradition worth continuing. It is easy to get started just pick up a pen, grab some paper and begin, it doesn’t have to be a poem about sugary delights, just something sincere coming from the heart.

In keeping with the note-writing theme and desserts, this intimate Valentine soiree begins with a cute one-of-a-kind envelope backdrop. Several 4 x 5 ½ inch white envelopes with the back flap facing forward are lined up side-by-side and row- by- row creating a subtle chevron pattern. A singular hot pink envelop draws attention to the overall scheme. The table is draped with a hot pink tablecloth with the classic white serving dishes and pedestals displaying the decadent desserts. Three outstanding desserts include Strawberry Linzer Cookies, Cupid Cupcakes and Cherry “envelope” Pastries.

Envelope folded pink cloth napkins are neatly pressed and dress-up the table. Mini petit fours, chocolates and cinnamon imperials were purchased to round out the buffet. The cupid cupcakes are vanilla with pink fondant. A heart- shaped cupid cookie mold made the cute impression. The cupcakes are served up sassy in a white lace paper wrapper. Fruited water, hot tea and coffee could be served as choice beverages.

Valentine’s Day would not be complete without flowers. Hot pink roses, bright green collard leaves and curly parsley are clustered together in a glass round vase as a statement but simple floral arrangement. Mixing vegetables with flowers makes arrangements come alive with texture and interest, besides being fun to create.

As the soiree comes to a close, send a lovely valentine home with your guests; perhaps a small gift box containing chocolate truffles or petit fours along with a hand-written personalized friendly word. Cherry Envelope Pastry www.lizbushong.com

1 package refrigerated piecrust 1 can cherry pie filling ½ cup sparkling sugar ¼ cup whipping cream One 4 x 5 inch paper envelope One small heart shaped cookie cutter INSTRUCTIONS: Unroll pastry on floured surface. Open a 4 x 5 ½ inch paper envelope and use as a pattern. Reduce the pattern to make a smaller envelope if desired. Trace pattern onto parchment paper. This is your pattern.

Cut pastry into 4 envelopes and 4 small heart shaped cut outs. Fill pastry with cherry pie filling, but not on the back flap. Following the folds of the paper envelop, fold the cutout pastry, leaving the upper flap open. Place heart cut-out on folded edges of pastry envelope. Place pastry on parchment lined baking sheet. Brush with whipping cream then sprinkle with sparkling sugar. Bake pastry at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Do not remove from baking sheet until completely cool.

Strawberry Linzer Cookies www.lizbushong.com

½ cup butter, softened 1/3cup sugar 1/3cup confectioner’s sugar 1 egg yolk 1 teaspoon lemon extract ¼ cup heavy whipping cream 1½ cups all-purpose flour ¼ teaspoon salt

GARNISH: ½ cup strawberry jam Sparkling coarse sugar

INSTRUCTIONS: Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper, set aside.

In large mixing bowl, beat butter, sugar and confectioners sugar until light and creamy.

Add egg yolk, lemon extract and heavy whipping cream.

Add flour and salt to creamed mixture. Beat until combined.

Shape dough into a disc and wrap with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for one hour.

Roll out chilled dough to ¼ inch thick. Using a 1 3/4 –inch scalloped-edge round cutter, cut 24 cookies, reroll dough and repeat. Place cookies on baking sheet.

Using a small heart shaped cutter, cut out center on 12 cookies. Bake tiny hearts on separate baking sheet if desired. Refrigerate cookies before baking for 15 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350. Bake cookies 15-20 minute’s, do not brown tops or bottoms.

When cookies are cool, spread ½ teaspoon jam between whole cookie and top with cutout cookie. Sprinkle coarse sugar or confectioners sugar on top of cookies. Serve immediately or freeze cookies with out jam. Let cookies thaw before filling.

Yield: 12 filled cookies

1-18.25 ounce package white cake mix 1-3 ounce package instant vanilla pudding mix 3- egg whites 1-1/3 cup water 1/3- cup vegetable oil 1- teaspoon vanilla or extract of choice 1 container Vanilla Buttercream frosting-purchased 1 pound white fondant- tested Fondarific* ¼ cup confectioner’s sugar for rolling fondant ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract Pink food coloring color paste or gel Cupid heart-shaped cookie mold* 2- inch round cookie cutter

INSTRUCTIONS: Preheat oven to 350. Line cupcake pan with liners. Set aside.

In large mixing bowl, add cake mix, pudding mix, egg whites, water, oil, and flavoring.

Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes, be sure to scrape down sides and bottom of mixing bowl. Pour batter into cupcake liners filling ½ full. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool.

TO FROST AND DECORATE: Lightly frost cakes butter cream frosting. Knead fondant until soft and pliable, add pink food coloring, knead until blended.

On confectioner sugar coated surface, roll out fondant ¼ inch thick.

Gently brush cookie mold with confectioner’s sugar, press cookie mold onto fondant using straight up and down motion. Cut a 2- inch circle around the cupid heart imprint. Repeat for all cupcakes. Place rounds on top of cupcakes.

In 2011, she was part of seven-person team selected to decorate the Tennessee Governor’s Mansion for the holiday.

Liz has been featured as the monthly guest chef on Daytime Tri-Cities, television show on WJHL, the CBS Affiliate for the Tri- Cities Area of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Daytime Blue Ridge in Roanoke, Virginia and Daytime Tampa, Tampa Florida. She is also the creator and host of her own one-hour seasonal television show called “Serve it up Sassy!” for the same market, which aired in 2011. She is also a contributing writer for the regional magazine VIP Seen and Lovely Bella magazine in Roanoke, Virginia.

She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Consumer and Family Sciences from Purdue University and an Associate in Applied Science degree in Fashion Design from The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She is also certified in Decorative Finishes and has been trained as a volunteer Master Gardener.

Liz is the author of the Just Desserts and Sweets & Savories cookbook. Liz makes her home in Johnson City, Tennessee. She continues to perfect her sassy approach to turning simple dining occasions into beautiful and memorable moments.

Business men and women gathered for an evening of great food and a lot of fun. The mission of KOSBE is to be the go-to organization in the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas for small business owners and entrepreneurs who want to start or grow their business, by acquiring or creating and developing the right tools and resources.

Johnson City Chamber after hours was held at the Old South Restaurant and Event Center on Thursday November the 20th in downtown Johnson City. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a wonderful evening of networking and socializing in the brand new Grand Ballroom with over 5,000 square feet of event space. There was an exquisite sampling of Old South Restaurant’s new menu. The Old South Restaurant and Events is located at 601 Spring Street behind the Johnson City Farmers Market. This new premier restaurant and event center provides the Tri-Cities area with classic, Southern elegance “A Taste of Charleston” This wonderful new restaurant is Family owned and operated. Mike Ferguson and Steve Sonneberger, Old South’s co-­ owners, are proud and excited about the new restaurant and event space. As two Northeast Tennessee natives who enjoy gourmet cuisine and travel, they feel that this restaurant is a wonderful addition to downtown Johnson City.

Hannah Ferguson the event coordinator lived in Charleston SC. for four years, and is a very experienced event coordinator. “My family grew up in Northeast Tennessee, and I wanted to bring my experiences and knowledge of Southern cuisine and hospitality to Johnson City,” Ferguson said.“People think event coordinators just plan parties, but to me, it’s more than that. Events become part of a person’s life a usually become an extremely fond memory with loved ones. I enjoy being an integral part of someone’s happiness, and I think Old South can provide that outlet for residents in the Tri Cities area.”
