Whether you wanted to look like an old-school gangster, like a flapper, or a moll: Prohibition for the Paws provided your chance to dress up in your best costume. EVENT COVERED BY CRYSTAL DAWN CARTER

The event was sponsored by Tennessee Hills Distillery and held at the Venue at King Centre in Johnson City. All the money raised for the event went to sponsor the Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter.

The funds will provide food, blankets, medicines, and other costs associated with getting each animal prepared for their new forever home.

The event featured live music by “Big Band Theory”, a jazz ensemble, heavy hors d’ oeuvres from local eateries, and a silent auction.

This is one of the largest fundraisers for the shelter each year. Event organizers say the fundraiser is a great way to support the shelter while celebrating the end of prohibition in an authentic celebration.
