Little Nilly falls out of his nest. Ia finds him, takes him home and treats him, but the bird cannot fly. Ia and his other friends try to teach him but nothing works. When the cat Otto hunts him to eat, Nilly’s friends warn him against hurting the martin. However, as the fall comes and Nilly loses hope to join his congeners to fly away it is Otto that helps him by frightening him and only when the bird dares open his eyes does he see that he is actually flying!
