DECEMBER 2013

Mark your calendars for the most engaging and dynamic annual state conference yet! The 60th Annual VRPS State Conference will be held at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA from December 6-9, 2014 and believe it or not, planning is already underway. Registration information will be available in February at www.vrps.com and we hope you will join us. In addition we are seeking creative, interactive, motivating and insightful speakers to produce a unique learning experience that our Parks and Recreation professionals and students from across the state won’t find anywhere else. If you are interested in speaking at the conference, please submit the Session Proposal Form no later than March 12, 2014 which is available at www.vrps.com. Speakers selected will be contacted with further details. Education sessions are typically one hour and fifteen minutes (1.25) or two hours and thirty minutes (2.5) in order to be eligible for continuing education units for the participants. NEW FOR 2014 To achieve a more valuable learning experience for our members, we are looking for additional participatory learning elements. To further this goal, we are seeking 5-6 presenters who will conduct a dialogue with the delegates after their session by participating in 20-30 minute interactive mini-classes. The idea is to create the opportunity for attendees to reflect and ask more in-depth questions in a small group setting in which you can share the benefit of your expertise and discuss the work you are doing with a wholly engaged audience. Please indicate on the application if you are willing to take your presentation to a new level and participate in our Engaged Learning Center and let your enthusiasm and passion shine through your proposal. For additional information please contact Blythe Russian or Ann Marie E. Heiser.
