Procrastination is another meaning of hesitation, delaying or postponing something. Everyone at one point of time procrastinates. Procrastination may also be ignoring unpleasant yet important task, in favour of other easier tasks. Sometimes, procrastination is fun like delaying the work and waiting until the deadline is very motivating. And sometimes, procrastination becomes necessary to put off the worried task until you feel more energized and prepared for it. But if it becomes a habit, it will begin to hamper job performance and also personal life. Also, it affects your mood and state of mind by generating fear, worry and added stress. You can become demotivated and disillusioned with your work. If you are procrastinate for a longer time. Then, how to overcome procrastination? You can simply follow the steps which I mentioned below with my experience as life coach which also help yourself to deal with procrastination.

Recognize Yes, the rst and foremost thing you need to consider is that you need to recognize that you are procrastinating. If you are genuinely putting off a task for a good reason, then you are not necessarily doing it. But if you have put it off just to re-prioritize your workload then you might want to think about it. Recognize it and write down all the things which you are procrastinating.

Workout on ‘why’ Before you begin to tackle it, you need to nd why you are procrastinating. If you are continuously delaying a particular task because it is boring, just get it out of the way quickly so that you can focus on other aspects of your job that you nd more enjoyable. Also, some people fear of success as much as they fear of failure, even if they are organized. Because they would avoid the task as they don’t have the skills to do, than do it imperfectly.

Adopt Anti-procrastination strategies Procrastination is like a habit that you can’t probably break it overnight. So if you want stop that habit, and then you have to stop practicing them. Try as many as strategies as possible to give yourself the best possible chance of succeeding. For example, stop avoiding and focus on doing the task which you are committed to. This helps you to actively tackle your work. Rather than building your task to another day, take tasks as soon as they arise.

Enjoy the win Complement yourself for achieving your goal and not delaying it. Reward yourself with a piece of cake or a cup of coffee from your favourite coffee shop. This helps you to self-motivate yourself when you think of delaying a complicated task. If you are dis-organized, Always make a to-do list so that you won’t forget those overwhelming and unpleasant tasks. Also, set speci c deadlines for your tasks to complete which will keep you on track to achieve goals. Also, try to do the tasks that you nd most dif cult at these times. Follow these steps, and it is for sure that you can get rid of procrastination.
