THE INDIAN INSTITUTE OF ART AND DESIGN We are in the midst of a paradigm shift. Our evaluation of design has expanded beyond the notions of aesthetic or commercial success. Design, as a process, has become more collaborative and trans-disciplinary than it had been in the past. Isolated models of design education have become inadequate in preparing students to meet the complex needs of a globalizing world.
IIAD is preparing and educating the next generation of designers to define the future of the creative economy by adopting a holistic teaching and learning approach. Our strength lies in the ability to produce new knowledge grounded in modern techniques and technologies to suit the dynamism of the global design industry.

B.A. (HONS.) FASHION DESIGN* B.A. (HONS.) COMMUNICATION DESIGN* B.A. (HONS.) INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN*
FOUNDATION DIPLOMA IN DESIGN The Foundation course will prepare students for a smooth transition into their chosen field of specialization at the undergraduate level. The main purpose of the course is to ‘bridge the gap’ between High School and a full-fledged degree course. The course is structured to maximise the progressive development of the students’ intellect and creativity and to hone their ability to express their ideas both independently and within a group. The students will develop a broad spectrum of skills and knowledge in a structured manner to understand design vocabulary and will be exposed to a variety of techniques, methods, materials and technologies (including e-tools) for use in design practice. *Programmes are subject to validation by Kingston University.
B.A. (HONS.) FASHION DESIGN* Fashion Design has always formed the mainstream of design education in India and abroad. IIAD has a ‘bespoke educational model’ that has a tailor-made approach to the rapidly changing global fashion design business and society at large. This model promotes the cause of design-thinking, balancing the aesthetic, cultural and functional aspects of design. IIAD's Fashion Design programme focuses equally on creative innovation, technical skills and commercial opportunities. Students are groomed to design for an international audience and establish a cross-cultural reach while ensuring that they also have a thorough grounding in local and indigenous crafts, materials and designs. Graduating student portfolios will reflect eclectic sensibilities with strong visual literacy, meticulous training in craft and design technique, silhouettes, print philosophies, and an ability to adapt to a multi-perspective global fashion market. The program is underpinned with awareness of serious concerns like sustainability, ethics, diversity, better production practices and cultural identities.

B.A. (HONS.) COMMUNICATION DESIGN* As various forms of media expand, evolve and proliferate, Communication Design has gained popularity and importance as a branch of design education. Whether it is a mobile app, a TV advertisement, a chocolate wrapper, a movie poster, a website, or social-media, all are manifestations of Communication Design. Communication Design is a broad-based discipline that brings together these various media to deliver a product, service or experience. It also identifies and creates, where required, the most efficient information transmission channels to communicate the message to the right audience. At IIAD, the course emphasis is on training in visual, digital and technical literacy in graphics, animation, film, video, photography, and multimedia applications. Students are taught about illustrations, typography, visual communication, digital media, print and publication design etc. They also learn about story telling and audio visual media. This is combined with a strong applied exposure to the communication technology industry through internships and training programmes.
