GERMASOGEIA WALK Germasogeia – A Village Blessed by Water This tour aims to take visitors to the peaceful, picturesque village of Germasogeia, 15 minutes away from the beach, to stroll through its narrow streets, see its special architecture, visit its churches, and feel the village life. Water has always been the most important element in the development of Germasogeia. It is bounded by the sea in the south and on its north it has as a physical boundary, the water dam of Germasogeia fed by the river Amathos coming from the mountains of Troodos. The idea is to walk away from the village to the serene surroundings of the area and enjoy a relaxing stroll wandering in the hills of Germasogeia. The participants of the tour will enjoy a ride in the old Bedford bus which drives partly through an earthen road. They will walk (there is some uphill walking) for more than half an hour along the nature trail of the area of Phinicaria laid out by the Forestry Department and enjoy the magnificent view of the water dam and river. In the winter, colourful flowers and shrubs cover the valley. The herbs and wild flowers and tree blossoms give a variety of colours and scents. Larnaka Free Winter Experiences The week starts with a birdwatching and basket weaving session at Voroklini Lake on Monday morning. Cyprus International 4 day Challenge A staged running event, successfully combining a 6k time trial, an 11k mountain trail run, a multi terrain half marathon, and a 10k City Run over four consecutive days, covering a distance slightly longer than a marathon. Join the Walk! Agia Napa and the Sea: A Different Dimension! This «walk» gives an insight to the historic connection of the area of Agia Napa with the sea and the recent growth of the small fishing village to a splendid modern resort. All along, the tour gives one the opportunity to learn more about the area and admire its natural beauties. The participants enjoy a ride on a fully restored vintage bus to the sculpture Park, a sea-view open-air gallery exposing the work of over 100 artists, who have exhibited their works around the world. Next on the programme is a short ride to the breathtaking Agia Napa Sea Caves and to the National Park of Cape Gkreco. A short walk follows to “Korakas Bridge” a ‘must-see’ geological formation that resembles a bridge or arch over a sea cave and the picturesque chapel dedicated to Agii Anargiri situated on the north of Cape Gkreco. After a coffee break the tour continues along the coast and ends at the 15th century Byzantine church of Agia Varvara. The guide’s commentary focuses on familiarizing the participants on the area and offers further information on various other sites that the visitor may wish to explore on his own or with an organised tour. Zivania Festival Zivania is a traditional alcoholic beverage made in Cyprus. Is a distillate produce from pomace (or marcs), the residue of grapes. Zivania has been produced in Cyprus since the time The Republic of Venice ruled the island, around the end of the 14th century. Since 2004, Zivania has been protected under the EU regulations as a product unique to Cyprus and as such cannot be produced in any other country and marketed under that name. The festival takes place in Alona and Pelendri villages in two consecutive weekends. It includes distillation of zivania at the venues, promotional kiosks with traditional products, and music and dance programmes. The local sights are open for visitors during the festival.
