The servant of two masters (Il Servitore di Due Padroni) Written in 1746 “The Servant of Two Masters” by Carlo Osvaldo Goldoni (1707 – 1793) is one of his best-known works. OCT – NOV EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS 2018 Cyprus since 1995, participates in the organization of events for the European Heritage Days. It is an institution established by the Council of Europe in 1991 and supported by the European Union. The purpose of this institution is to allow the general public to know and appreciate the architectural and cultural heritage. During these days, doors are opened to numerous monuments and sites, historical and traditional areas, particularly those where access is not always feasible. At the same days various events such as exhibitions, lectures, music and cultural events, etc. are organized in order to touch the world with the tradition of each place. Eftychia Papagiannopoulou The most important female lyricist of the rebetiko and folk song. Through her turbulent life, the history of Greece unfolds. She lived the destruction of Smyrna, the great persecution, collaborated with Vamvakaris, Kazatzidis, Chiotis, Tsitsanis, Kaldaras, Hatzidakis. Painting Exhibition of Sousan Itayim

An improvisation project for theremin and electronics with percussionist Claudio Bettinelli. Time: 20:30

Sousan Itayim is originally from Iran. Sousan’s art has developed mainly through personal effort and years of experimentation in search of the medium and technique which would best express her inner feelings and thoughts. In this collection, Sousan uses collage, acrylic paint, mixed media, stamps and stencils. She combines Kilim designs, Persian calligraphy, Islamic and oriental motifs, vivid colors and texture to produce vibrant paintings that are full of movement, rhythm and harmony. The bits of calligraphy and text used in the paintings come from Persian poetry and are used purely as design elements and not as text. Venue: Tehnis Dromena Gallery (53 Arch. Across The Island 2018 - The Cyprus Epic The Cyprus Epic Challenge returns for a second year and grows even more. Rebetiko at Times of Crisis This is the thematic focus of the music performance staged by Gaia Zaccagni (percussion, vocals), Pantelis Ionas (guitar, oud, banjo) and Nikos Nikolaides (bouzouki, baglama) who having researched the rebetiko repertoire, present a selection of “crisis” songs inspired by the difficulties of life at times of crisis, by poverty and repression, by the consequences of economic, political and social crisis on man as an individual and as a social being, by the crisis in love and human relationships. 6
