If you are looking for a bite to eat in Southampton then you must visit one of Oxford Street’s restaurants, perhaps dine in the White Star Tavern named after White Star Shipping Ltd who owned the Titanic. Stockbridge is a market town situated on the River Test and is best known for quality gastro pubs and the Trout n’ About food festival, named after its most famous produce. The picturesque fishing village of Emsworth has a fantastic selection of restaurants, pubs and cafés to choose from. Southsea is the new kid on the block with a thriving foodie scene. A must stop is The Tenth Hole Tearooms renowned for its fantastic cakes, located aptly next to Southsea Golf Links pitch and putt on the Eastern Parade. There is a wine revolution happening in Hampshire and gone are the days of poor tasting English wines. Hampshire has arguably the best vineyards in the country, due to the similarity of geology to the Champagne region in France. In November 2015 Hambledon Vineyard’s sparkling wine won a blind taste test beating well established champagnes, but don’t take our word for it, head down to the vineyard and try it for yourself. There are vineyards tours available throughout Hampshire that you can visit and learn about wine, but please note that some are by appointment, so do get in contact with the Vineyard ahead of visiting.
