Local Local
One of the most common questions we hear is, “Where’s the best place to eat in Hutchinson?”
To answer that, we turned to the real experts—a team of local foodies who shared their favorite spots and hidden gems.
Jason
My two go-to restaurants are Daybreak Café & Firehouse Café. Daybreak Cafe has the best huevos rancheros in the state of Kansas and Firehouse Cafe has the largest portions I've ever seen at a breakfast joint.
Start Your Day On Top BREAKFAST CAFES AND COFFEESHOPS
We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day. In Hutch, we take that seriously. Start off strong with a classic breakfast at Daybreak Café or enjoy the ambiance and generous portions at Firehouse Café.
The all-day diner Skaets is another breakfast staple, though it’s famous for the “Moon Burger” loaded with bacon and cheese – named for the moon landing in 1969.
Prefer the lighter side with a cup of great coffee and a delicious pastry? Metropolitan Coffee is the local happening coffee shop featuring impeccable coffee and a cozy environment. Sip your coffee while playing board games or admiring local artists and musicians featured regularly in the space. Scuttlebutt’s is a favorite for coffee and fresh-baked pastries made in-house with gluten-free, vegetarian, and sugar-free syrup options.

Something Special FOR CULINARY EXPLORERS AND ENTHUSIASTS
A recent favorite is BHappy Pho and Boba. We tested this restaurant out for the first time at one of our YP Final Friday Foodies lunch meet ups and I’ve been hooked! The menu has a large variety of choices and was a perfect location for our members that are vegetarian or have varying food allergies. BHappy provides a pleasant atmosphere, delicious Vietnamese dishes, and wonderful service. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a new local spot downtown!
Maddy and I love the variety of options in Hutchinson, from a hearty breakfast at Firehouse Café to flavorful bowls of ramen at Koi Ramen.
Do you travel for the food? We see you. Our restaurants offer cuisines from around the world. Bhappy Pho & Boba’s Vietnamese dishes and boba tea are great options for vegetarians and foodies alike. The Thai Hutch Bistro is a great spot for fresh and delicious meals with an option to order ahead online for busy schedules. Koi Ramen has everything from sushi to ramen and poke bowls.
The Traveling Bowl is a local favorite food truck turned restaurant. They stay close to their roots with a Special Menu with new options every week to keep diners surprised and delighted.

SHOWSTOPPER MEALS YOU CAN ONLY FIND IN HUTCH
Looking for a special treat or celebrating an occasion?
Make memories with a steak dinner and a view at Airport Steakhouse located inside the local airport since 1951. Watch a variety of aircraft come and go from the dining room with front row seats to the runway. Roma’s Italian Restaurant offers authentic Italian cuisine, inspired by the owner and chef’s roots in Albania and Sicily. Find your next favorite beer and have lunch or dinner at Salt City Brewery. Their large rotating menu of seasonal and smallbatch beer will offer a new experience with each visit.
Family Favorites
CASUAL JOINTS WITH OPTIONS EVERYONE WILL ENJOY
Hutchinson has family-friendly restaurants for every picky eater. Everyone can have their favorites at Ken’s Pizza, a pizza parlor and buffet featuring delicious pizza, salad bar, pasta, sandwiches, and more. The Hickory Stik BBQ & Catering Co. serves the highest quality slow-smoked meats and sides prepared from local ingredients delivered daily. This family-owned restaurant is eager to serve your family. Bogey’s is a local fast food favorite featuring ”Over 101 Shakes” in addition to an expansive food menu.
Sweet Indulgences
SATISFY YOUR SWEET TOOTH WITH THESE TASTY DELIGHTS
Hutchinson’s local bakeries will satisfy your sweet tooth. Holly’s Sweet Treats is a locally owned and operated bakery and gift shop specializing in custom cake artistry and design. They also offer a savory lunch menu with comfort foods from bierocks or shepherd’s pie to soups and sandwiches. The Bakery House & Catering Co. offers sweet treats, custom desserts, and savory catering and freezer meals. They are a one-stop shop for feeding a large group or stopping in for a casual lunch and delicious dessert.
El Patio is one of the best hidden gems of Hutchinson.
Owner Victor Pena and his family provide the best customer service you can find. It is a 5-6 table authentic Mexican restaurant that is the next best thing to being in Mexico.
To satisfy your sweet tooth it has to be Daylight Donuts. Their selection is amazing, and the Old-Fashioned Donuts are seconded to none!
Anchor Inn/ Anchor Away - it’s a Hutchinson staple with delicious Mexican “comfort” food.
Traveling Bowl is my favorite restaurant because they have great homemade meals that are refreshing and/or warm the soul. I love that they change their special menu that has a lot of variety, but if you're not feeling that, you still have great options on their smaller regular menu.
My go-to place for sweets would be Bogey's Puppy-Chow shake or Metropolitan Coffee House's cookies and brownies.”

YODER
THE QUIET LITTLE TOWN OF YODER
MORE GREAT REASONS TO VISIT YODER
When the town of Yoder was founded by Eli Yoder in 1889 it was considered to be the hub of the surrounding Amish community. Today, Yoder is still considered to be that. Though many businesses and homes have moved in around Yoder, the picturesque town has stayed that same size, and is only 15 minutes away from Hutchinson.
With the emergence of new business, Yoder has prospered, inviting visitors to take a step back in time and enjoy the Amish settlement. The town is a quaint mixture of the past and present, as horse and buggies are intermingled with cars and trucks. Several businesses cater to the tourist trade, making it convenient to enjoy this wonderful Amish community. You can sample the baked goods made by local residents in the shops and at the farmers market every Friday from 2 to 6 pm, and even take a buggy ride most Saturdays when you visit this community where yesterday meets today.
