TRAVEL WITH

PURPOSE

Learn how to travel in a sustainable way and have less of an impact on the environment.

Sustainable travel is a mindful approach to exploring the world that prioritizes minimizing environmental impact while supporting the long-term well-being of the destinations we visit. It’s about finding balance — increasing the positive effects of travel while reducing the negatives, such as pollution and strain on local resources. Being a sustainable traveler is an ongoing commitment to travel responsibly. From the way we pack and get to our destination to choosing eco-friendly accommodations and experiences, every aspect of our journey reflects a dedication to preserving and respecting the places we explore.

COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY

Los Cabos is home to a wealth of natural treasures and biodiversity, making sustainability a priority for the region. It proudly has two RAMSAR sites — with 11 total in Baja California Sur and two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Additionally, five of the world’s most ecologically productive marine areas are in Los Cabos. With one-third of the world’s marine mammals and over 900 fish species, Los Cabos is a hub for marine diversity. The region boasts 25 Blue Flag–certified beaches, symbolizing its commitment to environmental standards. While traveling, you can help protect marine life by choosing sunscreens without harmful chemicals that can damage coral reefs. Beyond natural preservation, Los

Cabos actively supports sustainability through initiatives like protecting turtle nests, banning single-use plastics, and limiting heights on buildings to maintain a serene landscape. Further, local farms supply produce to hotels and restaurants, promoting farm-to-table dining while hotels embrace renewable energy and waste reduction programs. These efforts reflect Los Cabos’ commitment to safeguarding both its environment and community, ensuring that tourism and sustainability go hand in hand for generations to come.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Travelers to Los Cabos can make a meaningful impact by supporting local initiatives that enrich and uplift the community. Inspired by Luis Bulnes’ deep commitment to the development of Los Cabos, The Solmar Foundation continues his legacy of supporting the local community. Each year, the Foundation partners with local nonprofit organizations and government agencies to provide direct assistance where it is most needed, including heart disease treatment, scholarship projects, day care centers for children, and centers for the elderly and disabled. This year, the Foundation is supporting 12 local organizations to ensure that the most vulnerable members of society receive the help they need, making a lasting impact on countless lives with a mission that aligns with our own, focusing on health, education, nutrition, and wellness.

What else can you do?

» Travel slow and stay longer. Instead of rushing between spots, take the time to immerse yourself in one area, reducing your travel footprint and building a deeper connection to the destination.

» Conserve water and energy. Turn off lights, unplug electronics, and avoid daily laundry by reusing towels and bedding, helping to ease the burden on local resources.

» Reduce single-use plastics. Bring a reusable water bottle, straw, utensils, and toiletry containers to minimize waste on your travels.

» Support local businesses. Shop at local markets, dine at neighborhood eateries, and choose locally made souvenirs to help sustain the community’s economy. Pack a foldable cloth bag for shopping and other needs, making it easy to avoid disposable bags.

» Respect wildlife and nature. Observe animals from a distance, avoid touching coral or plants, and stick to marked trails to help protect the environment and its inhabitants.

» Eat local foods. Choose locally sourced foods to reduce the environmental costs of importing and to support sustainable agriculture in the area.

COASTAL GREENS

With breathtaking ocean views, world-class courses, and designs by legends like Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, Los Cabos is a golfer’s dream.

Golfing in Los Cabos is a bucket-list experience for enthusiasts visiting Land’s End. With 18 exceptional courses already available to challenge players of all skill levels — and more in development — this destination continues to cement its reputation as a golfer’s paradise.

Renowned course designers like Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Tiger Woods, Davis Love III, and Robert Trent Jones Jr. have left their mark on the region. Adding to this illustrious lineup, Scottish-born architect David McLay Kidd is currently crafting the newest gem: Baja Bay Club, set to debut in Baja’s East Cape.

David McLay Kidd is a master of golf course design, with acclaimed projects such as the Castle Course at St. Andrews Links and the iconic Bandon Dunes course along the Oregon Coast earning global recognition.

His latest endeavor, Baja Bay Club, is part of a sprawling 2,400-acre real estate development set to include up to 500 luxury beach and ocean-view homes. Located just a few miles from Cabo Pulmo National Park, this residential community will be nestled between the rugged Sierra de la Laguna mountains and the tranquil Sea of Cortés, boasting over three miles of pristine beachfront.

Courtesy of Puerto Los Cabos

Accompanying the picturesque scenery, the Baja Bay Club course will be artfully carved into the stunning desertscape, with holes 9, 10, and 11 touching the beach sands. Players will also be able to hone their game at either a delightful short course or a practice facility. Baja Bay Club is set to open in 2026.

Golfing in Los Cabos is a bucket-list experience for enthusiasts visiting Land’s End.

Also scheduled to open in early 2026 is the Ernie Els–designed Oleada Golf Links Los Cabos. Els — who has won 75 professional tournaments worldwide, including four major championships — said of the project, “Our goal at Oleada is to build a core golf course that harmonizes with nature.”

Another highly anticipated addition to the Los Cabos golf scene is the Legacy Club at Diamante, an 18-hole, par-71 course spanning 6,966 yards from the tips. Designed by golf legend Tiger Woods, the course is expected to open by press time, marking his third masterpiece at Diamante. Woods’ previous designs include El Cardonal, host of the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technology Championship, and the Oasis Short Course, both celebrated for their exceptional playability and stunning landscapes.

Quivira’s second Jack Nicklaus golf course was set to open in late 2024 as well, but to date, it is still a work in progress.

(2)

Querencia is gearing up to unveil a second golf course, with legendary designer Tom Fazio — who crafted the original course 25 years ago — leading the design once again. The new course is slated to open in 2026. An update on the Querencia website states: “As work proceeds on the second 18-hole course, Querencia is also building a new Canyon Club, which will serve as a family hub. The first phase of its construction will include an outdoor skate park, a pump track, a basketball court, and a soccer field, while the second phase will bring a trampoline park, a climbing wall, a family pool, dining, and an open-air cinema.”

COURSE AWARDS

Throughout the 206 countries and territories worldwide, you can find nearly 39,000 golf courses. Each year, Golf Digest painstakingly selects the top 100 golf courses on the planet — and this year, Los Cabos has 2 golf courses in that coveted list.

The Jack Nicklaus–designed Cabo del Sol (Cove Club, formerly the Ocean Course) came in at No. 100. Nicklaus once described the course as having the “three finest finishing holes in golf.” Ironically, in 2020, the 17th and 18th holes were demolished and replaced by two inland holes to make oceanfront space for expanded resort development. Even with that dramatic change, however, the course still held its own in the eyes of the judges.

Coming in at No. 47 was Diamante Golf Club (The Dunes). Designed by Davis Love III, this course is considered Mexico’s first true links course. Davis’s design team included his brother, Mark Love, and designer Paul

Cowley. The judges especially praised the holes hugging the Pacific Ocean. The second nine are adjacent to the sea, with the tallest dunes doing their part to disrupt golfers. As another point of interest, no other links course in the world sports cactus!

GOLF TOURNAMENTS

El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas proudly hosted the World Wide Technology Championship once again in November 2024, welcoming over 130 professional golfers to its renowned fairways. The 2023 tournament concluded with a thrilling moment as Erik van Rooyen sank a 16-foot eagle putt on the par-5 finishing hole to claim the championship title.

Hosted at the Pueblo Bonito Pacífica Golf & Spa Resort, the annual Los Cabos Golf Pro-Am tournament is slated for January 12–15, 2025. The best ball event will be contested at Cabo del Sol Golf Club on Monday, January 13. On Tuesday, January 14, golfers will tee off at Solmar Golf Links at Rancho San Lucas, and the final round is set for Wednesday, January 15, at Quivira Golf Club.

Founded in 2010, the annual Cabo Collegiate Golf Tournament will be held March 2–4, 2025, at the Twin Dolphin Club, featuring golfers from 14 U.S. colleges. Past individual participants have included current world number one Scotty Scheffler, Victor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Ludwig Aberg, and Will Zalatoris, to name a few.

ON-COURSE CUISINE

Golfers visiting Los Cabos are guaranteed to leave with unforgettable memories — not just from the stunning courses but also from the

unique culinary experiences that accompany a round of golf. Unlike many destinations worldwide, the golf experience in Los Cabos usually includes a memorable meal at the turn as well. Many courses in this picturesque region have transformed routine breaks into gourmet experiences with their exceptional comfort stations, often serving delectable Mexican cuisine.

Typically, you can expect one comfort station on the front nine and another on the back nine. However, Questro Golf’s Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club sets a new standard with its Culinary Palapas. These all-inclusive dining stations, offering food and beverages, welcome golfers up to four times per round. Each station features a dedicated bartender and chef, ensuring every dish is fresh and flavorful, with menus rotating biweekly to keep the experience exciting and unique for returning guests.

Another standout is Cabo San Lucas Country Club, a beloved destination known for both its exceptional course and its outdoor Viva Restaurant. Whether indulging in a perfectly grilled rib-eye steak or savoring succulent jumbo shrimp, dining here is an event to remember. With live music, the glow of the nighttime driving range, and a lively atmosphere, guests can enjoy their meals and drinks while watching friends and family perfect their swings under the stars. Los Cabos truly offers a golf and dining experience like no other.

Unlike many destinations worldwide, the golf experience in Los Cabos usually includes a memorable meal at the turn as well.

DIAMANTE CABO SAN LUCAS — DUNES COURSE

When Dunes Course designer Davis Love III first arrived on the Diamante site, he said, “It was like pulling up to St. Andrews.” Golf on the Dunes does share some similarities with the classic links courses in Scotland and Ireland — but here, the weather is warmer, the sand is whiter, and the sea is bluer. The par-72, 7,022-yard Dunes Course at Diamante Cabo San Lucas is marked by fairways, tees, and greens carved right into sand dunes high above the Pacific Ocean. diamantecabosanlucas.com

DIAMANTE CABO SAN LUCAS — EL CARDONAL

The centerpiece of an 834-acre community set on the Pacific Ocean, the Greg Norman Signature Solmar Golf Links opened in 2020. Known for his “least-disturbance” design approach, the 18-hole course features a low-profile layout that maintains the land’s existing contours and offers sweeping ocean views

from every hole. The result is a 7,240-yard, par-72 course that spans three separate ecosystems: across windswept dunes, up through a cactus forest, and back toward the sea on the back nine. Norman also integrated indigenous grass varietals that require the least amount of water, building an eco-friendly experience that flows naturally with the landscape. The rancho-style clubhouse is perched high above the ocean, commanding dramatic views, and features a putting green overlooking the fairways and sea. solmargolf.com

TWIN DOLPHIN GOLF CLUB

Twin Dolphin Golf Club rises more than 590 feet above sea level and boasts a naturalistic layout that features sweeping views of the Sea of Cortés from every hole. Course architect and PGA Hall of Fame inductee Fred Couples worked on the course’s routing and strategic design with Todd Eckenrode of Origins Golf Design, striving to make it “a course that all players can enjoy.” The par-72, 18-hole course measures 7,156 yards, and there is also a kids’ course: an 18-hole, par-71 course measuring 2,300 yards. There are no tee times at Twin Dolphin, just Cabo time! twindolphinloscabos.com/golf

VIDANTA GOLF

One of the most enjoyable golf outings in Los Cabos is the nine-hole, par-35 Vidanta Golf in San José del Cabo that measures 3,153 yards and is semi-flat. But don’t be fooled by the modest measurements — this course presents quite a few challenging holes, including one lake and 32 bunkers. The Course at Vidanta Los Cabos, as it’s officially known, is the oldest course in Los Cabos and widely considered one of its best values. vidantagolf.com

Anglers are a tight-knit, dedicated, and spirited group, often willing to travel far and wide and search the world’s finest fishing destinations in pursuit of a dream fish. As they spin the globe to find a destination in which to fulfill their fishing fantasies, the buck inevitably stops at Los Cabos. Why? Simply put, world-class fishing opportunity exists here like nowhere else on the planet. Brimming with vibrant aquamarine waters among stunning cliffside backdrops, both offshore and inshore species abound on every angler’s hit list, ranging from striped marlin, blue marlin, mahimahi, roosterfish, jack crevalles, and dozens of other aspirational catches of a lifetime.

Angling adventures can last from a mere 4 hours up to a 12-hour full-day fishing marathon — it all depends on what fits into your schedule. Here’s what to expect.

THE DEEP SEA

When non-fishermen refer to the “deep sea,” that means heading to the offshore grounds that can range anywhere from 10 to 50 miles into the Pacific Ocean. These far-off waters are the playgrounds

for some of the wildest big game species in the world. Topped off by the highlight, the striped marlin is in abundance offshore of Los Cabos more than anywhere else in the world’s oceans, earning the destination as the number one spot to achieve your “striper” catch. But don’t be fooled — other massive marlin species are caught every day as well, including black marlin that can reach 800 to 1,000 pounds and blue marlin of the same caliber.

spreader bars and daisy chains, and even live baiting with sardines to tempt a strike. The prime season for marlin runs from September to mid-March, with anglers typically landing four to six marlin during a full day offshore during peak season.

If gladiator billfish are too much for you to handle, dial it down offshore and target the vibrantly hued mahimahi, aka dolphinfish, which range from 20 to 60 pounds on any given day and are notably absolutely delicious in the frying pan. Dolphinfish are primarily targeted from February through April. Speed demons in the form of wahoo, going up to 80 pounds, are also on tap, earning their name from an angler’s exclamation of “Wahoo!” when they take the bait and rip the line off the reel. Another prized catch, yellowfin tuna, weighing up to 250 pounds, are a daily occurrence from September through March. If you’re a big sushi fan, you certainly won’t eat anything fresher!

STAYING INSHORE

While the deep sea is tempting, you don’t have to make long runs offshore to enjoy exciting fishing opportunities. Inshore waters along the Sea of Cortés and along the Los Cabos waterfront offer up plenty

of species both big and small to test your tackle. Anglers descend on Cabo San Lucas and along the East Cape to search out the incredibly beautiful roosterfish, with its coxcombed dorsal fin and brilliant black striped pattern along its silver flanks. Roosters, or “el gallo” in the native language, put up big game battles right within sight of the land, offering up the chance to truly feel the thrill of a big game battle while trolling diving plugs or tossing live baits back to them. This is a top destination for flyrodders looking to check the rooster off their bucket list.

The myriad seamounts and submarine rock piles hugging the coastline also attract a vast array of bottom species, including red

snapper, groupers, jacks, and various types of cabrilla species, that fill the cooler for most charters to bring back home to the grill. Smaller speedsters such as cero mackerel, sierra mackerel, and rainbow runners also inundate the inshore waters and are usually trolled up with shiny plugs and feathers to put them on the boat.

Tournament Time

Every year, the waters off Los Cabos transform into a competitive playground for anglers from around the world as the region hosts some of the most prestigious fishing tournaments on the planet.

With some of the world’s largest fishing tournaments taking place in Los Cabos, you not only have the chance to earn some serious cash winnings if you enter one, but the after-parties are the stuff of legends!

And if you don’t have your sea legs and want to stay on shore, don’t worry! There’s always the opportunity to hire a surf fishing charter and cast lures from the crashing surf to tangle with roosterfish, mackerel, and cabrilla species. Inshore species are also available year-round, so you’ll always be there at the right time, no matter what month you choose to visit.

HOPPING A CHARTER BOAT

Of course; when you’re out on the open sea, you want to fish in comfort and style, and the top dog in the area is the Pisces Fleet. Equipped with dozens of fishing charter boats for hire, the Pisces Fleet can get you on board your personal 80-foot sportfishing yacht for offshore adventures or rent out smaller midsize watercraft to chase inshore species. All boats come fully locked and loaded with a professional captain who knows the waters, a stocked fridge filled with beer and food, mates on deck to set the lines and assist you in your battles, and top-tier tackle to ensure your equipment never fails

Every fall, the region hosts competitions that see top captains and anglers from across the globe vying for significant cash prizes. In 2024, for instance, the Bisbee’s Black and Blue tournament awarded over $6.85 million in prize money.

EXCITING Beaches

SUN, SAND, AND SEA

Whether you’re looking to dive into crystal-clear waters, lounge on golden sands, or simply take in the awe-inspiring views, Los Cabos offers a stunning beach for every type of traveler.

When visiting Los Cabos, one thing you’ll soon discover — if you don’t already know — is that the inviting beaches are measured simply by sunrises and sunsets. Whether your interest lies in swimming, surfing, snorkeling, or romantic solitude, there is a beautiful beach to accommodate your every desire.

To ensure that Los Cabos beaches and those all around the world remain pristine and welcoming for generations to come, in 1987 the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) established the Blue Flag designation. In addition to beaches, FEE also certifies marinas and sustainable tourism boats around the world. As a nonprofit, FEE measures its impact and contribution to the tourism, safety, security, and sustainability of beaches and oceans worldwide while also promoting sustainable development through environmental education.

In 2024, 5,121 beaches, marinas, and sustainable tourism boats in 51 countries around the world received the prestigious Blue Flag designation.

In Mexico, nearly a third of the 78 beaches that carry the Blue Flag designation are in Los Cabos. The 25 Los Cabos beaches receiving the

FEE Blue Flag for 2024 were also awarded that same designation in 2025. While most of those beaches are in Cabo San Lucas, other Blue Flag beaches can be found in the Tourist Corridor that connects Cabo San Lucas to San José del Cabo and the picturesque East Cape.

Greater Los Cabos beaches certified with the Blue Flag distinction include Acapulquito, Chileno, Corsario, El Surgidero, Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos, Grand Velas Los Cabos, Hacienda, Las Viudas, Palmilla, Santa María, La Ribera, La Gaviota, Médano Breathless, Médano Casa Dorada, Médano Club Cascadas de Baja, Médano ME Cabo, Médano Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos, Médano Pueblo Bonito Rose, Médano Riu Palace Los Cabos, Médano Riu Palace Baja California, Médano Riu Santa Fe, Médano Villa Del Palmar, Médano Villa El Arco, Médano Villa La Estancia, and Paradisus Los Cabos.

It’s clear to see that Los Cabos boasts a breathtaking collection of beaches, each with its own unique charm, from tranquil bays perfect for swimming to rugged coastlines ideal for adventurous surf seekers. Let’s explore some of the best beaches this incredible destination has to offer.

CABO SAN LUCAS

Without question, Médano Beach in the heart of Cabo San Lucas is the most popular swimming beach in the area. Featuring numerous quality

hotels, Médano’s two-mile stretch of beach features soft sand, calm lapping waters, plenty of water sports, and lots of incredible scenery.

The Mango Deck Beach Club is front and center for nonstop action. Along with its daily menu that attracts hungry beachgoers from breakfast till dinner, the Mango Deck features an all-day happy hour.

An early-morning stroll characteristically offers the best experiences at Médano Beach. Watching the sun rise on a deserted beach is an image you will cherish for years. But as the sun rises in the sky, so, too, do the number of visitors.

In addition to swimming, a variety of water sports are plentiful along Médano, including jet-skiing, kayaking, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

While most of Médano Beach affords an incredible view of El Arco, local water taxis can get you up close in a matter of minutes. Near El Arco, visitors can enjoy Lover’s Beach as well as Divorce Beach nearby. Lover’s Beach promises a calm, swimmable beach, while Divorce Beach offers fierce waves and is not recommended for swimming.

THE CORRIDOR

Connecting the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo is the 20-mile stretch called The Corridor. Within this stretch of land, the Blue Flag–designated Santa María Beach features a sheltered cove that has

quickly become a visitor favorite. Though it has limited facilities, Santa María offers idyllic swimming options. Chileno Beach, another Blue Flag bearer, features stunning turquoise waters that make it ideal for earlymorning snorkeling and swimming.

SAN JOSÉ DEL CABO

Palmilla Beach, while not as calm as Santa Maria or Chileno beaches, is one of the area’s nicest swimmable beaches. It also has another draw:

Palmilla is the best beach for whale watching between January and March. Meanwhile, Acapulquito Beach is best known as a surfer’s haven.

Welcoming both novices and seasoned longboarders, it is a sight to witness surfers riding the waves. For those wishing to simply observe the action from the shore, a great viewing location is the nearby Cabo Surf Hotel & Spa. There is also the Mike Doyle Surf School housed within the hotel.

EAST CAPE

The Delphine Beach Club is the newest addition in the East Cape. In June 2024, Costa Palmas residents and guests were treated to the new open-air club nestled along the swimmable shores of the Sea of Cortés. Visitors can enjoy live entertainment, a bar serving signature cocktails, and dining options right on the beach. In addition, that beach that fronts Costa Palmas stretches two miles in length. The sprawling 1,500-acre Costa Palmas resort is a 45-minute drive along the paved Hwy. 1/Carretera

Transpeninsular from the San José del Cabo International Airport.

One experience not to be missed is a visit to Cabo Pulmo Marine Park. A protected national park, Cabo Pulmo features gently lapping waves safe enough for children to play. Cabo Pulmo’s beautiful coral reef attracts snorkelers, too, making evident the dedication to preserving this magnificent natural treasure.

Top Swimmable Beaches in Los Cabos

Several beautiful spots offer calm, swimmable waters perfect for a refreshing dip.

Often dubbed the crown jewel of Mexico, this distinguished coastal getaway has beckoned visitors the world over for more than half a century. But what continually draws visitors to Land’s End, as Los Cabos is affectionately known? The answer is simple: pristine beaches and more than 350 days of annual sunshine. Below, you’ll discover the best swimmable beaches in Los Cabos where you can relax, swim, and soak up the Baja sun.

Médano Beach is the primary swimming beach in Cabo San Lucas. With its abundance of beachside restaurants, vendors, and lounge chair rentals, it can get crowded; but it’s a great place to enjoy some quality time in the water.

The Cannery Beaches is another great spot for swimming. Known for its serene waters and gentle waves, it offers a relaxing environment for those who want to hang out or make a splash.

Along The Corridor, Santa María is arguably one of the best snorkeling beaches in Los Cabos thanks to its abundant coral reefs. Swimming and snorkeling are popular activities at this family-friendly beach, as well as at the nearby Chileno Beach with its calm bay. Palmilla Beach is also on the short list of best beaches in the area. Set on a crescent-shaped coastline, this Blue Flag beach draws visitors for its calm waters and plentiful marine life.

One of the lesser-known beaches that offers quality swimming and snorkeling opportunities is Playa Bledito, also known

as Tequila Cove by the locals. Set directly in front of the Hilton Los Cabos and Meliã Cabo Real on The Corridor, the calm waters of Playa Bledito offer ideal conditions for swimming, paddle sports, or simply soaking up the sun. Beachcombing and horseback riding are other fun options.

El Ganzo Beach is another hidden gem located just east of San José del Cabo. It lies within the resort community of Puerto Los Cabos, a magnificent master-planned community of 2,000 acres. El Ganzo Beach features pristine waters and offers a protected swimming area for beachgoers to enjoy.

It can be a real battle of willpower to pull yourself away from the freeflowing margaritas, mouthwatering cuisine, and sizzling nightlife of Los Cabos; but you absolutely must set aside some time to experience the real “wild” side of Los Cabos — adventuring through the Baja backcountry, mountains, and seashores.

Baja’s lesser-known wild side offers a wide array of sporting opportunities for all skill levels and walks of life. Turn the difficulty level up a tiny notch and sprinkle in some more adventure by mountain biking specially designed trails that careen down the mountains. WATER WORLD

The world’s most famous underwater explorer, Jacques Cousteau, was so fascinated by the underwater realm of Los Cabos that he spent much of his time researching here. How could he not?

Surfers from all reaches of the globe descend upon the East Cape and west coast to sample the tasty waves.

Breathtaking aquamarine seascapes lap at the desert landscape, painting the region in a spectacular palette of contrasting colors.

Underneath the waves, waters beckon snorkelers and scuba divers to drop down and explore the diverse array of tropical fishes, including butterfly fish, sergeant majors, and Moorish idols. Cabo Pulmo Marine Park, the crown jewel of snorkeling sites, spans over 45 square miles and boasts the largest coral reef system on the Pacific side of North America. This remarkable reef, over 20,000 years old, offers a unique and breathtaking glimpse into an ancient underwater world. Diving enthusiasts can dive even deeper into adventure by exploring the waters at El Tule, Neptune’s Finger, or venturing 20 miles offshore to the wreck of the El Vencedor. Here, the shipwreck has become a thriving habitat for pelagic species like yellowfin tuna, hammerhead sharks, striped marlin, and red snapper, creating a mesmerizing underwater ecosystem.

Surfers from all reaches of the globe descend upon the East Cape and west coast to sample the tasty waves. Breaks range from beginner difficulty to expert level, starting off on the East Cape on Highway 1 with easy riding waves at Acapulquito break at Km. 28, a moderately challenging break at El Tule at Km. 16.2, and a more advanced option for experienced surfers if they follow the signs to Shipwrecks beach break. Another option is to rent a car and head to the west coast to tour the artisan town of Todos Santos and surf Los Cerritos, where an inviting longboard break wraps around a protected bayside cove.

Looking for a big-game battle? The Pisces Fleet offers a wide selection of all-inclusive sportfishing boats, ready to take you on the high seas to reel in striped marlin, yellowfin tuna, roosterfish, and more. Just steps from the lively bayside bars, you can fuel your adrenaline along Médano Beach, where WaveRunner rentals, parasailing, windsurfing, and kiteboarding options create the ultimate thrill. For a calmer adventure, try kayaking or renting a stand-up paddle board to glide across the serene waters of Chileno Bay and Santa María Bay, where you can observe native waterfowl and encounter curious fish following along on your journey.

Of course, there’s always a time to adventure in luxury! Nothing says comfort and indulgence like a sunset cruise on the Sea of Cortés or Pacific Ocean, and Cabo Sails delivers in style. With over 24 years of experience in Los Cabos, Cabo Sails offers a selection of private catamarans, sailboats, and yachts, each providing a fully catered experience. Enjoy top-shelf margaritas, cold beers, fine wines, and authentic Mexican hors d’oeuvres as you soak in the breathtaking Los Cabos sunset with the iconic El Arco as your backdrop. Make any celebration — whether a wedding, anniversary, or bachelor/bachelorette party — unforgettable and enhance the experience with customizable cruising, snorkeling, and whale watching tours in absolute comfort.

Parallel Universes

There are rare moments in life when connections form effortlessly, driven by an almost-otherworldly synergy. Few places inspire this sense of discovery like Los Cabos, where rugged landscapes, sunlit shores, and underwater worlds beckon exploration.

Among these wonders, the Sea of Cortés — a living masterpiece famously called “The Aquarium of the World” by Jacques Cousteau — stands out. Its depths unveil a mesmerizing universe teeming with life, offering a journey into the wild unknown.

For the adventurous, the Sea of Cortés is a gateway to discovery, from renowned dive sites to hidden gems. One such treasure, just hours from Los Cabos, is Espíritu Santo Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and untouched sanctuary of striking landscapes and crystal-clear waters.

This pristine haven teems with life yearround, from vibrant coral reefs below to soaring birds above. A highlight is La Lobera, a nursery for one of Baja Sur’s most significant colonies of California sea lions, where visitors can witness their playful grace in a setting that embodies the delicate balance of nature.

Espíritu Santo and the underwater realms of the Sea of Cortés invite explorers to embrace the thrill of the unknown. As the boat nears this remote haven, the sounds of nature — exhalations, roars, and splashes — heighten the anticipation, making each moment of discovery deeply felt.

Guided by professional instructors, these controlled explorations inspire awe and foster a profound respect for ocean conservation. Immersing into

this underwater world creates rare connections with marine life, reminding us of the fragile beauty of our planet and the bonds that unite parallel worlds. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the waves, we reflect on the deep connections Los Cabos inspires — with nature, with ourselves, and with the endless possibilities beneath the surface. These extraordinary moments leave an indelible mark, forever etched in our souls.

REFINED Spa & Wellness

RELAX AND RECHARGE

From luxurious beachfront spas and holistic wellness centers to world-class treatments inspired by Baja’s natural beauty, Los Cabos offers an array of wellness experiences that cater to every need.

There’s an ancestral healing tradition on the Baja peninsula that dates back to the Mayan civilization. Today in Los Cabos, travelers can tap into this ancient wisdom at modern-day luxury resorts and spas. Known as curanderismo, Mexico’s folkloric healing traditions are carried out in temazcal sweat lodge ceremonies where herbs are steamed and songs are chanted in a purifying ritual presided over by a shaman. From traditional ceremonies to newfangled interpretations, restorative hydrotherapy journeys, and results-oriented treatments, you’ll find a wealth of options when it comes to relaxing and recharging in luxurious Los Cabos spas. With rooftop yoga at sunset and beach boot camp at dawn, inspiring panoramas of the crashing sea add another element of relaxation to the transformative wellness experience.

FOLKLORIC WELLNESS TRADITIONS

Inside the Waldorf Astoria Spa, nestled inside the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal resort, the ancient Mayan tradition of curanderismo is alive and well. Drawing inspiration from lunar cycles and the sea, the spa is home to a team of healers providing a menu of Mexican folk rituals and wellness therapies such as the indigenous herbal detox, which involves an herbal energy cleanse, mud wrap, and detoxifying massage with rosemary oil. There’s also a menu of sumptuous soak rituals designed to harness the ocean’s energy where spa-goers bathe

with products like a hydrating seaweed treatment, hibiscus bath salts, and body polish and oil, all while sipping organic tea by candlelight in a black algae face mask. The Waldorf Astoria Spa is home to incredible amenities, including grottos with steam rooms, saunas, ice rooms, and whirlpools with a wealth of local herbal remedies on hand. There’s also a saltwater meditation pool accessible directly from private treatment rooms.

The luxurious One&Only Spa at the One&Only Palmilla resort also offers a full menu of healing rituals and treatments drawing upon ancient Mayan traditions, including a temazcal experience that features a therapeutic steam bath fortified with detoxifying local herbs, indigenous music, copal incense, herbal teas, and ancient medicinal tonics. Its traditional healing ritual is a massage that begins with copal incense and herb- and flower-infused waters for a cleansing ritual and incorporates healing tools ranging from fresh bamboo to hot stones, indigenous medicines, and a traditional rebozo stretching shawl. Before or after your treatment, indulge in the spa’s steam room, sauna, and hot and cold plunge pools. For deeper immersion, you can even embark on a healer-led journey, from cacao ceremonies to full moon meditations and breathwork.

Did you know?

» The ancient Mayan temazcal steam lodge ceremony draws on the elements of water, fire, earth, and air to deliver purification and balance. Participants gather in an intimate dome-shaped chamber made of mud or stone and are guided through the ceremony by a curandero spiritual healer. As your body sweats and releases toxins, your soul is renewed, awakening wisdom passed down through generations.

With its focus on providing a restorative sensory experience, this spa offers revitalizing massages, facials, and body treatments using ingredients derived from the earth. Many Los Cabos area spas also offer fitness and active experiences to complement your spa and healing treatments.

Here, an oasis of hot and cold plunge pools, cabanas, a steam room, and a sauna await, complete with dazzling ocean views. ACTIVE WELLNESS EXPERIENCES

Many Los Cabos area spas also offer fitness and active experiences to complement your spa and healing treatments, creating a holistic approach to wellness. Here, you’ll find state-of-the-art fitness centers with personal trainers offering both indoor and outdoor classes, ranging from

Pilates to moonlit or sunrise yoga, spinning TRX, and beach boot camps. Paddle board yoga and aquatic spinning classes are also popular activities, and some resort spas feature tennis courts, golf courses, and guided area hikes. No matter which you choose, these active fitness experiences are a wonderful way to indulge in total mind-and-body restoration during a Los Cabos vacation.

MERGING HEALTH CARE WITH HOSPITALITY

As the cost of U.S. health care services soars, the range of procedures and treatments covered by health insurance policies plummets. Mexico continues to fuel its hot spot status as a primary destination for U.S. and Canadian travelers focused on procuring reasonably priced medical treatments without compromising quality.

From the top to the tip of the Baja peninsula, Mexico’s medical tourism shares the bucket-list indulgences of escaping to an exotic vacation destination with enhancing self-esteem through wellness regimens and elective procedures. Especially in Los Cabos, medical and dental practitioners team with visitor industry professionals to support wellness-first escapes to help travelers embrace every aspect of their stay.

Los Cabos delivers this attractive blend of hospitality and health care, often with significant savings that offset travel expenses. The vast menu of services ranges from cosmetic

enhancements, bariatric surgery, and fertility treatments to joint replacements and oncology procedures.

Dedicated to providing “Exceptional Care for Exceptional People,” AMC Hospital is a highly responsive Los Cabos facility handling urgent care with hemodynamics, hemodialysis, 3D tomography (128-slice tomography), radiology, and operating and intensive care rooms.

AMC also features state-of-the-art equipment and the most advanced tools for critical-care treatment, such as Prisma, ventilatory support machines, and the Lucas device that renders automatic CPR. In fact, AMC Hospital is well respected for having performed more coronary bypass surgeries than other Los Cabos area hospitals.

While not physically large in size, this boutique treatment center is considered a giant in resolution, attention, and service. Count on a staff of warm and caring professionals who treat each patient with empathy, solidarity, and integrity.

Many medical travelers schedule multiple procedures and extend stays to recuperate in all-inclusive beachfront resort settings near their facilities and professional teams.

Imagine the mental and physical perks of incorporating pre- and postsurgical massage and water therapies, followed by organic spa cuisine, shared to the tune of gentle waves lapping the shoreline.

Select medical spas are also bolstering nonsurgical paths by augmenting science with art through aesthetic, antiaging approaches. A hybrid between traditional day spas and medical clinics, these facilities embrace

From indigenous healing practices to advanced stem cell therapies, facilities like PRMEDICA are leading the way in regenerative medicine, offering groundbreaking treatments that enhance health, longevity, and quality of life.

Over the past decade, Los Cabos has emerged as a wellness haven in Mexico. Gone are the days when wellness was solely associated with feel-good indulgences at resorts. Today, progressive luxury facilities continue to elevate their offerings, incorporating everything from indigenous healing traditions to cutting-edge biocellular medical treatments.

At the forefront of this transformation are stem cell centers, where minimally invasive or noninvasive treatments leverage nature’s building blocks. Preventive and regenerative therapies now take center stage, using advanced processes to stimulate healing and enhance the quality of life.

Leading the way in San José del Cabo is PRMEDICA, part of an international network

Dining & Nightlife

CULINARY GEMS

From fresh-caught seafood to farm-to-table feasts, Los Cabos offers a dining scene as vibrant as its sunsets.

Over the past few decades, Los Cabos has solidified its status as a must-visit destination, celebrated for its world-class hotels, breathtaking scenery, and endless sunshine. Adding further to its allure, the region’s innovative culinary scene has become a significant draw in its own right for travelers from around the globe. Though rooted in Mexico, the dining options in Los Cabos are decidedly international, with restaurants as diverse and abundant as the marine life in the Sea of Cortés.

GLOBAL FLAVORS

Over the years, Los Cabos’ culinary experiences have flourished to include a plethora of global cuisines, spanning from European to Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Middle Eastern, and, of course, Mexican. Set on the marina waterfront in Cabo San Lucas, Alexander Restaurant features gourmet European cuisine with an inspiring view. Chef and Owner Alex Brulhart’s menu includes fresh locally caught fish, succulent lobster, shrimp, duck, chicken, lamb, choice aged beef, and pasta as well as specialties like hang beef and

fondue. His culinary creations include Swiss, French, and tropical influences. Here, guests can also enjoy a variety of appetizers or entrees flambéed tableside.

Captain Tony’s aims to please every palate with an extensive menu that has you covered any time of day — breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Captain Tony’s offers a little bit of everything, including casual dining with sensational views of the marina and mega yacht row. The traditional palapa roof is an institution at its prime spot on the Los Cabos marina. Its “you hook it, we cook it” policy is still in place, encouraging anglers to bring in their fish and have it prepared to their liking.

For three decades, Nicksan has set the standard for culinary excellence in Los Cabos, blending the bold flavors of Mexico with the artistry of Japanese cuisine.

Fusion at Its Finest

For the last three decades, the award-winning cuisine of Chef Angel Carbajal has been on display at Nicksan. With two restaurants in greater Los Cabos, Nicksan showcases the culinary traditions of Japan paired with the unique flavors of Mexico. As it turns out, this cultural blend of Japanese and Mexican cuisine came about by happenstance when veteran Japanese Chef Masayuki Niikura met Chef Carbajal while vacationing in Los Cabos. The two hit it off, and as they brought their talents together, Nicksan was created. Thirty years later, guests are still the benefactors of this collaboration at the Nicksan restaurants in Los Cabos.

Their commitment to excellence and sustainability has kept Nicksan at the forefront of the Los Cabos dining scene. Initially featuring traditional Japanese fare, the menu has since evolved to blend Japanese and Mexican flavors, showcasing the abundance of fresh seafood in Los Cabos. Most of Nicksan’s dishes are the mouthwatering creations of Chef Carbajal, who pairs fresh seafood with his signature sauces. He offers traditional and innovative recipes to delight customers. Signature dishes such as the lobster roll, tuna tostada, serrano sashimi, cilantro sashimi, and tuna sushi cake have become favorites; yet still the menu remains dynamic, introducing new dishes regularly based on customer feedback.

Carmen Carbajal described Nicksan’s remarkable longevity as such: “It all comes down to the fantastic people who have become family to the restaurant. Nicksan has been a pioneer in the Los Cabos restaurant scene since its inception. Its evolution reflects sustained success and an ability to adapt while upholding a commitment to excellence and sustainable practices.”

The restaurant’s ongoing success can be attributed to its devoted and passionate team, including Carbajal family members George, Eddy, Sam, Rosy, Carmen, and Angel.

Come experience the next chapter in Nicksan’s legendary journey as it continues to redefine dining excellence in Los Cabos.

Authentic Mexican Cuisine

Los Cabos has become synonymous with great food, and those accolades are due in part to the traditional Mexican dishes that appear on many menus across the region. When visiting Los Cabos, there are some dishes you simply must try. Fish tacos, for example, should be on everyone’s list. Many restaurants offer their take on this classic dish, and prepared with fresh fish available daily throughout Los Cabos, it makes perfect sense that this would be such a popular offering. Likewise, tacos al pastor is usually equated with local street food; but this corn tortilla and pork combination has grown in popularity and has been added to many restaurant menus. While enchiladas have been a Mexican classic for years, for instance, they, too, can now be found at some of the best restaurants throughout Los Cabos.

Celebrating Excellence

Acknowledging what traveling foodies have known about Los Cabos for years, the coveted Michelin Guide has introduced its first-ever guide to Mexico, which unsurprisingly includes several Los Cabos listings. The Michelin selection process is rigorous, considering factors like cuisine quality, service consistency, chef reputation, ambience, and local influence. Various categories aim to celebrate excellence, value, and sustainability.

EXQUISITE Art & Culture

STATE OF THE ARTS

From bustling art districts and galleries filled with local talent to traditional music, dance, and cultural festivals, Los Cabos offers a rich array of experiences that captivate visitors year-round.

Baja California Sur is home to a rich tapestry of art with a deeply rooted cultural heritage, ranging from the historic gallery district in San José del Cabo to the mystical bohemian town of Todos Santos that, with its historic architecture and thriving arts community, has been officially designated as one of Mexico’s pueblos mágicos, or “magical towns.” But Baja isn’t all ancient folkloric art. Here, visitors will also find compelling contemporary works by both Mexican and international artists in galleries and museums for an opportunity to contemplate the past, present, and future; and music and movie lovers can plan a Los Cabos vacation around one of the area’s exciting annual music, film, and arts festivals.

SAN JOSÉ DEL CABO GALLERY SCENE

San José del Cabo is home to a thriving historic gallery district. One of the best ways to experience the area is during the San José del Cabo Art Walk held Thursday evenings during season (November through June) from 5 to 9 p.m. Situated in the charming streets surrounding Plaza Mijares and the Misión San José del Cabo church, the main thoroughfare is closed to traffic during Art Walk to make the evening pedestrian friendly.

Over a dozen galleries stay open late, often launching special exhibitions and hosting artists, while the surrounding restaurants and bars fill with art enthusiasts for a festive evening out on the town. On display, you’ll find a wide range of works created by folk artists and artisans of Los Cabos and other Mexican regions, ranging from Mata Ortiz pottery from Chihuahua to Neo-Zapotec hand-painted wood carvings from Oaxaca and intricate beaded Huichol art from Nayarit and Jalisco. The galleries are also home to a variety of contemporary art by international artists, from paintings to sculpture, photography, jewelry, and beyond.

During your visit, don’t miss Galería de Ida Victoria, home to works by both emerging and established contemporary artists from Mexico and around the world. From New York–based Colombian artist Andrés García-Peña’s captivating neoexpressionist paintings to American artist S. Brooke Anderson’s sublime abstract landscapes and Baja’s own Hresula Bentsen’s playful mosaic sculptures, the range of talent on display is truly captivating. Nearby, artist Frank Arnold’s eponymous gallery displays his abstract figurative paintings and sculptures in a sleek modern space that also acts as his studio.

TODOS SANTOS DAY TRIP

For a culturally rich day trip from Cabo San Lucas, set your sights on Todos Santos, a charming town nestled between the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range and the Pacific Ocean. About an hour’s drive north up the coast from Cabo San Lucas, it’s home to a melting pot of multigenerational farmers, expats, artists, musicians, and surfers.

Courtesy of Los Cabos CVB

Considered one of Mexico’s pueblos mágicos, you’ll find a variety of art galleries, unique museum spaces, design-forward boutique hotels, and hip restaurants situated inside historic haciendas and restored colonial buildings. The town’s central plaza is a great place to start your exploration, anchored by the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Pilar built in the 1700s, where you’ll also find art galleries and a local theater. The Centro Cultural resides within a former schoolhouse and functions as a local history museum with nationalist and revolutionary murals on display.

LOS CABOS PERFORMING ARTS

Los Cabos also plays host to a variety of exciting arts festivals throughout the year. In Todos Santos, January’s Tropic of Cancer Music & Arts Festival boasts an eclectic lineup of international and Mexican musicians, while the Todos Santos Film Festival in late November shines a spotlight on short and feature-length films and documentaries by Southern Californian, Mexican, and Latin American filmmakers. Cinephiles visiting in December should make a point to attend the Los Cabos International Film Festival, which has positioned itself as

the nexus for filmmakers from Mexico, the United States, and Canada for over a decade. Festivalgoers can attend film premieres, industry panel discussions, workshops, and exclusive parties, with venues ranging from local movie houses to the 700-seat theater at the impressive Cultural Pavilion of the Republic.

The San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, held in August, is another highlight of the year in Baja. Boasting nine stages and a long weekend dedicated to an incredible lineup of salsa, jazz, blues, Latin, and R&B musicians, this is the kind of concert that will make you feel grateful to be alive and under the stars on a warm summer evening in Los Cabos.

To ensure a smooth seminar, the JW Marriott offers a dedicated in-house event staff and an award-winning banquet team. Planners can also go the extra mile for their team by booking 10 or more rooms for a special rate.

Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort, in San José del Cabo offers an exceptional array of venues for executive meetings, retreats, incentives, and exclusive events. For meetings or banquets, there are several venue choices, such as The Conference Room that features multiple room figurations that open onto an outdoor terrace with ocean views. La Plaza is another stunning option for outdoor events at the highest point in the resort. Smaller gatherings, cocktails, or private dinners can be held in any of the resort’s acclaimed restaurants, on the beach under a thatched palapa, or in La Cava, an impressive 3,000-bottle wine room.

With a bountiful menu ranging from casual boutique gems and allinclusive havens designed for ultimate ease to posh resorts with world-class amenities, Land’s End delivers vacation utopia that shines as brightly as the Baja sun.

CABO SAN LUCAS

Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa proves a dreamy complement in its prime location on the water’s edge in the vibrant Marina Golden Zone. Here, guests can unwind in beach-inspired suites with private balconies overlooking the colorful marina.

Sip handcrafted cocktails poolside or at the swim-up bar, with a whirlpool hot tub for sun-soaked relaxation. Savor Mexican flavors with the “Inclusive” plan or elevate your options with the “Dine Out Inclusive” concept that beckons foodies to discover local Marina District restaurants.

With access via a private tunnel carved through Pedregal Mountain, the AAA Five Diamond Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is poised cliffside above the point where the Pacific Ocean merges with the Sea

of Cortés. Embracing the rich traditions and heritage of Mexico’s culture and cuisine, this exclusive haven welcomes visitors with guest rooms, suites, villas, casitas, and private residences — all of which feature a private plunge pool on a terrace boasting ocean views.

Tucked into the heart of Médano Beach, Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa urges thrill seekers to explore exhilarating Los Cabos adventures and then retreat to the comforts of this exquisite property, equipped with an oceanfront infinity pool, a buzzing beach club with private cabanas, the city’s highest rooftop bar, and Los Cabos’ only microbrewery and concept dining destination.

Its all-inclusive plan unlocks unlimited beachfront culinary delights, gourmet adventures, and boundless beverages. Topping off the decadence is Rooftop 360, a lively bar where sparkling infinity pools and a fairy-tale ambience embrace guests, creating the perfect space to decompress and then rev up with craft cocktails and live DJ beats.

At the tip of the Baja peninsula where the Pacific meets granite cliffs, Solmar Hotels & Resorts features a collection of oceanside properties trimmed with sparkling pools, swim-up bars, spa access, and options for allinclusive or a la carte stays.

For those craving the best of both worlds, Grand Solmar Land’s End is located on private Pacific beachfront within walking distance of downtown Cabo San Lucas. Land’s End Spa takes treatment bliss to the shore in a stunning setting, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and tucked between dramatic rock formations. For epic elegance, the resort’s fourbedroom penthouse woos with expansive ocean views, a fully equipped kitchen, and a beachfront private pool with adjoining Jacuzzi. Golfers will

THE CORRIDOR

Imagine a fresh, vibrant approach to Los Cabos chic where “the soul surrenders to el sol.” The Cape, A Thompson Hotel, accomplishes that and more in its splendid cliff perch, where all accommodations and vantage points unfold to privileged views of Monuments Beach, El Arco, and the tip of the Baja horizon.

Relish in the infinity pool with a swim-up bar, a saltwater pool, the trendy open-air lounge The Rooftop, and Manta, where nosh nods to cultures of Mexico, Peru, Japan, and beyond.

Chef de Cuisine Abisai Sanchez sources local and sustainable ingredients from Baja while maintaining a casual spirit.

Restore your spirit and awaken your senses with holistic services at THE SPA and graze through the roster of six dining and lounge experiences that hits a high note at the Cielomar Rooftop bar.

Those on the path to maintaining healthy regimens will gravitate to THE GYM, an amenity that sets workout goals into motion via high-tech equipment and programs curated by fitness guru Harley Pasternak. Dial into a variety of group or private yoga classes, boot camps, and spin bike sessions. All accommodations are decked out with balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows for indoor-outdoor living, while select junior suites wow with private plunge pools.

In its enviable location along one of the area’s only swimmable beaches, hacienda-style Hilton Los Cabos encourages reconnecting with loved ones, rekindling romance, or simply embarking on exciting Baja adventures with friends. While beautiful panoramas roll out from all accommodations, discerning travelers can enjoy the privacy, peace, and pampering of AltaMar premium plunge pool rooms and suites on the highest floors.

Rejuvenate at the eforea Spa, soak up the sun at infinity-edge pools and the Enclave Beach Club, and satiate your palate with awardwinning specialties and handcrafted cocktails. Garnering multiple culinary accolades, Executive Chef Mauricio Lopez infuses local

traditions with twists on fresh-from-the-water seafood grilled over a live fire and tangy ceviches paired with top-flight tequilas and rare mezcals.

With jaw-dropping vantage points of the Sea of Cortés, Hacienda Encantada Resort & Residences’ elegantly appointed accommodations range from intimate studios to expansive three-bedroom villas.

Indulge with a trio of oceanfront swimming pools and Mimah Fitness Center access, or book a treatment at Jasha Spa with its modern interpretation of the traditional temazcal sweat lodge used by ancient Mayans to promote healing, health, and well-being. Guest rooms and suites elevate allure with modern décor, plush bedding, 24-hour room service, and private balconies for ogling the remarkable scenery.

The Solmar Legacy

As Solmar celebrates its 50th anniversary, it remains a key player in Los Cabos’ vibrant tourism scene, continuously evolving to meet the needs of modern travelers while preserving its celebrated heritage.

In 1974, visionary tourism pioneer Luis Bulnes transformed the landscape of Cabo San Lucas by founding the iconic Solmar Hotel on its Pacific shores. At a time when the area was largely untouched and the city was little more than a small fishing village, Bulnes’ forward-thinking approach laid the groundwork for Cabo San Lucas’s future as a premier global destination.

His efforts extended beyond hospitality — he spearheaded crucial infrastructure projects that brought water, electricity, and connectivity to the region. These developments were instrumental in establishing Cabo San Lucas as a thriving tourism hub, with Solmar at its core.

As Cabo San Lucas grew, so did Solmar Hotels & Resorts, evolving into a prestigious collection of properties catering to a wide array of travelers. Today, the group includes the luxurious Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort & Spa, Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes Resort Golf & Spa, Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa, The Ridge at Playa Grande, and Solmar Resort, among others. Each property reflects a commitment to excellence, offering world-class accommodations, stunning beachfront locations, and exceptional guest experiences.

Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort & Spa is tucked behind Cabo San Lucas’s iconic El Arco. With ocean-view suites, stunning infinity pools, and a full-service spa, it’s ideal for families and couples seeking modern amenities and natural beauty.

Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes Resort Golf & Spa provides panoramic coastal landscapes, oceanfront spa services, aquatic activities, and access to the renowned Solmar Golf Links. Located in an enclave

just north of Cabo San Lucas, it delivers a haven away from city life.

Grand Solmar The Residences is comprised of private villas in a serene, 750acre resort. These spacious accommodations are ideal for extended stays or private retreats, combining luxury facilities with the comforts of home.

Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa captures traditional Mexican charm in a lively environment. Visitors can enjoy sparkling swimming pools, soothing spa services, and a daily agenda of activities.

The Ridge at Playa Grande sits atop Cabo San Lucas’s granite cliffs, offering sweeping ocean views, spacious suites, holistic treatments, and dramatic infinity pools. The resort is a favorite for those looking for a scenic getaway.

Finally, Solmar Resort, the original property, delivers a cozy, intimate escape with easy access to a private beachfront as well as downtown Cabo San Lucas — making it ideal for all kinds of travelers.

Luxurious Hilton Vacation Club Cabo Azul Los Cabos sweeps guests into a 12-acre oceanfront paradise with 18th-century-inspired architecture and epic vistas. Melt into this impeccable blend of comfort and style in a spacious villa decked out with a private patio terrace, a separate living area, a master bedroom equipped with a spa tub, and a fully equipped kitchen. Savor celebrated Mexican fare at AAA Five Diamond Javier’s or tap into deluxe chef service with private in-villa and penthouse dining affairs.

Escape into peaceful adults-only solace at Paradisus Los Cabos, where destination-inclusive experiences encompass missionthemed architecture, Mexican cuisine prepared with locally sourced ingredients, and life-enriching activities that reveal the authentic Los Cabos spirit.

For guests booking The Reserve, the immersion continues, flowing off-site with chef-helmed cooking classes, workshops with local artisans, and private excursions to art-centric downtown San José del Cabo. This elite option also merges preferential services via personalized details with access to the most private areas of the resort. The Kanna Beach Club, Yhi Spa, and all-inclusive dining further elevate the pampering.

For families seeking an affordable getaway, Hyatt Place Los Cabos in San José del Cabo provides a welcoming retreat just steps from the tranquil shores of Playa Las Palmas. Boasting an inviting on-site pool, a relaxed bar, a stylish restaurant, a 24-hour fitness center, and spacious rooms — some offering breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortés — this property seamlessly blends value with modern amenities for a memorable stay.

Tropicana Los Cabos, a boutique hotel in San José del Cabo’s arts district, opened its doors in 2024. Originally established in 1956 as The Tropicana Inn, the property has been thoughtfully renovated and expanded to feature 68 guest rooms and two suites, blending Mexican hacienda-inspired design with modern amenities. The hotel boasts a wellness center with services like Tibetan bowl singing, guided meditation, and massage therapies, as well as an outdoor yoga terrace, game room, heated pool, and complimentary bicycles for exploring the charming surroundings.

EAST CAPE

A high-luxe escape revered by those lusting for undiscovered and extraordinary, the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas is considered by many to be the epicenter for Baja adventure. Swim off the most expansive beach in Los Cabos or set sail from the private marina aboard a snorkeling excursion on the Sea of Cortés, coined as “The Aquarium of the World” by famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteau.

Or perhaps you would prefer to simply luxuriate amid the exclusive resort’s stellar amenities, including access to the 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones II at Costa Palmas Golf Club and serene couples’ massages or invigorating yoga and Pilates classes at the Four Seasons Spa. Diverse dining options open the door to an array of dishes coupled with a prestigious collection of tequilas and mezcals. With boundless views of the vast sky, the shimmering Sea of Cortés, and an endless stretch of golden sand, these exceptional beachfront villas escalate indoor-outdoor living to new heights with direct beach access.

TIPS & INFO

LOCATION: Los Cabos refers to two towns — Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo — found at the end of Baja California Sur, about 1,000 miles south of Diego, California.

CLIMATE: Located just south of the Tropic of Cancer, Los Cabos is a subtropical desert. In the summer, highs can reach 90° F; and there are sporadic showers. Winter evenings see the thermometer drop to 60° F, with daytime highs near 80° F.

TIME ZONE: Los Cabos is on Mountain Time (MT) — one hour ahead of Pacific Time.

LANGUAGE: In Mexico, Spanish is the official language; but English is widely spoken throughout Los Cabos, especially by those within the hospitality industry.

ELECTRICITY: 120 volts/60 hertz. Electrical outlets are the same as those used in the U.S.

BANKS

AND CURRENCY:

The official unit of currency is the Mexican peso (MXN), but the U.S. dollar (USD) is widely accepted. All major Mexican national banks are represented in the destination and are usually open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Many branches have ATMs that accept U.S. bank cards just as they do in the U.S. Keep in mind, transaction fees may be higher; and some ATMs can dispense both Mexican pesos and U.S. dollars. While you can exchange dollars for pesos at the airport, any bank, and many hotels, the banks will usually have the best rates. Credit cards are welcome at most major restaurants and hotels. When using your credit card, the statement total will appear in pesos at the exchange rate posted on that day.

EXCHANGE RATE: At press time, one Mexican peso is equal to $0.05 USD. This rate fluctuates, so check it closer to your travel date and when you arrive.

COMMUNICATION: Most major wireless carriers offer packages that provide messaging, calling, and data services at reasonable rates. Check with your provider and ask about roaming rates in Mexico, international package options, and other travel-related services prior to your trip. The internet works quite well throughout Los Cabos, and Wi-Fi is a standard amenity at many businesses and most hotels and resorts; so Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, and other Wi-Fi–enabled apps are a cost-effective means of communication.

To call the U.S. from your U.S. cell phone, dial 00 + 1 + area code + phone number.

GETTING AROUND

Taxis are the fastest way to get around. Note that there are official taxis with established rates, so we recommend using only those authorized by the government. Buses are a low-cost and convenient choice that operate for most of the day. There are several private transportation companies. It is the most expensive route, but they will pick you up at your hotel and take you anywhere. You can also opt for a car rental if you want more freedom. Uber is also available.

AIRPORT & TRAVEL DETAILS

To enter Mexico, you need a valid passport. All foreign travelers must pass through immigration and customs. Once you have been cleared by immigration officials, collect your luggage and proceed to customs, where you push a button on something that looks a lot like a traffic light; if the light turns red, your luggage has been selected for inspection. After getting through customs and immigration, you may walk past time-share salespeople eager for your attention.

Unless you’ve arranged pickup with your hotel, yellow and white mini shuttles are a

good option. They are less expensive than taxis, but they won’t depart unless full — so you may find yourself waiting a few minutes.

Cab drivers and other prearranged transportation providers have a designated waiting area just outside.

Just 20 minutes north of San José del Cabo, the Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) services more than 400 domestic, international, and private flights weekly. At press time, the following airlines offered flights to Los Cabos: Aeroméxico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Calafia Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Magnicharters, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Sunwing, United Airlines, VivaAerobús, Volaris, and WestJet.

Nonstop flights and connections to Los Cabos are available from numerous cities across the U.S., including Atlanta; Charlotte; Chicago; Dallas/Fort Worth; Denver; Detroit; Houston; Kansas City, Mo.; Minneapolis; Newark; Phoenix; Salt Lake City; and

Seattle. From California, there are flights and connections available from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose. From Canada, there are flights available from Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg.

The smaller, less frequented Cabo San Lucas International Airport (CSL) is located just 10 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas and primarily services private aircraft.
