9. Micro-plastics, clean-up and waste separation

Primary students participated in this activity where awareness was raised regarding waste management practices. The participants were already familiar with such practices; however, they were still somewhat surprised with the amount of microplastics in the sand and at times, even on the surface. There was no need for digging and the resources used were very good and adequate for the number of participants. Amongst other things, the participants used sand sifting equipment to pick up cigarette butts and microplastics from the beach.
