3. Photography Walk

Photographs capture sentimental moments and memories for us to cherish for a lifetime. Therefore, a photography walk was organised along Golden Bay. Participants were encouraged to capture photos which highlight the unique habitat of this blue flag beach. During the walk, participants came across plastic pollution which led to the speaker explaining the dangers which plastic pollution imposes on the natural habitats of marine species around the world. After the photography walk, participants were encouraged to create patterns using pebbles found at the beach. A few participants argued that pebbles on sandy beaches seem out of place, however, our speaker explained that the removal of pebbles, stones and other rocky material from beaches would be a short-sighted move which would cause harm in the long run. The speaker asserted that the removal of such natural material starves the beach of its much-needed raw material from which sand is eventually produced.
