GREAT INCA ROUTE (8D / 7N) Destinations: Lima / Cusco / Inca Trail / Machu Picchu Trip Experience: Cultural and Adventure USD 668 Day 1.- Lima: Upon arrival in Lima, you will be given assistance in the airport and be transferred to your chosen hotel. Day 2.- Lima – City Tour: Breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel. We will begin the tour in the modern, residential districts of Miraflores and San Isidro. Following our tour, we will head to the Lima’s Historical Center, declared to be a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO in 1991, where the Spanish colony was established in the 16th century, and where the first constructions were built. We will get to see the San Martin Plaza, its balconies and old colonial houses, the Major Plaza and its most important buildings, such as the Government Palace, Lima’s Cathedral, the Archiepiscopal and Municipal Palace, the Desamparados Station, and other buildings San Francisco Convent and Catacombs: We will enter one of the most important convents of the 17th century and visit the Ancient Library, the Coro, the Principal Cloister and the subterranean crypts known as the Catacombs. As the tour ends, you will have the option to stay at the Inca Market, in Larcomar, or to return to your hotel. Day 3.- Lima / Cusco: Breakfast at the hotel. You will be transferred from the hotel to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival at Cusco, you will be assisted in the airport and be transferred to your chosen hotel. Day 4.- Cusco – Camino Inca – Huayllabamba: Trip: 7 hours (13 km) After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to the Urubamba Valley in our bus and make a short stop in the town of Ollantaytambo so that our porters can get organized. After your small break, we will head to Km. 82 (2650 m. / 8,694 ft.), where we will begin walking, after passing the Piskacucho control where it is important to show our original documents. We will continue walking and observe the dry forests. At around noon, we will have a time where the first archeological complex, Patallaqta, will be explained by the guide. Then, we will make a short visit to Willkaracay. After the visit, we will descend for about 25 minutes to the place where we will have lunch. We will then continue walking until Huayllabamba, reaching our first camp at around 3 or 4 pm, and we will spend the night there (3100 ./ 10,170 ft.). Day 5.- Inca Trail - Cusco / Huayllabamba / Pacaymayu: Trip: 8 hours (16 km) After having breakfast, we will begin to ascend the Inca Trail. This will be one of the most difficult days. We will slowly walk uphill towards the Abra de Warmiwañuska, located at 4,250 m. / 13,828 ft., and we will have an amazing view of the mountains, including the cloud forests. This is the beginning of the original trail. This trip will take approximately 5 hours to climb to the top of the trail and another 2 hours to descend to our camp in the Pacaymayu Alto Valley (3600 m./11,811 ft.). There we will have lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and stay overnight (D, A, C). Day 6.- Camino Inca - Pacaymayu / Wiñaywayna: Trip: 6 hours (11 km) This day is the longest of the Inca Trail, but it is also the most beautiful. We will observe the different ecological levels in the high places, the cloud forests, and the rain forests, as well as the different archeological sites like Runkurakay. Along the way, we will visit the complex at 3,760 m. or 12,335 ft. above sea level. After the visit, we will continue ascending along the trail to an altitude of 3,900 m. or 12,795 ft. We will take a short break so that we can later descend to the archeological remains of Sayacmarca, which is at an altitude of 3,625 m. or 11,893 ft. After enjoying this place, we will walk for approximately 25 minutes and then eat a delicious lunch for approximately one hour. After another hour of walking, we will reach the last step, which is Phuyupatamarka (3,600 m. /11,811 ft.), a resting spot where pictures can be taken of the surrounding mountains which include the panoramic view of snowy mountains like the Salkantay, the mountain range of Pumasillo, Vilcabamaba, and the view of the Urubamba Valley (land of the hot springs). After the visit of the archeological complex of Phuyupatamarka, we will take a downhill trip, which will take us to our last camp, approximately 3 hours from Wiñaywayna, where we can take a shower, both hot and cold, in the hostel and later rest in the restaurant where we will spend the night. Day 7.- Inca Trail – Wiñaywayna / Machu Picchu / Cusco: Trip: 2 hours (5 km) Very early in the morning, we will have breakfast and then we will go through the Wiñaywayna security where they will verify our entrance tickets. Following this, we will walk towards the Gate of the Sun, also known as Inti Punku (2720 m. / 8923 ft.), in order to have a first view of Machu Picchu. Then we will descend to the archaeological complex in
