Beachside culture
With a tantalising beach menu, the Sunshine Coast offers an aquatic playground like no other. Find your own patch of sand and immerse yourself in, on and under the waterline, for real!
Life’s a beach
Swim, sail, surf, kayak, jet ski, water ski, jet boat, paddle board, kite board – the options to enjoy the clear, clean water are endless!
Hire a tinnie or join a charter to catch your next meal, or enjoy the serenity on a cruise or in a kayak and get to know the local birdlife as you explore the region’s quiet lakes and passages, including the Pumicestone Passage, Noosa Everglades and the Mary River. Other bucket list experiences include swimming with humpback whales (seasonal), learning to surf, or diving the wreck of the ex-HMAS Brisbane.
For even more adventure, leave the roads behind and take to the beach highway by horseback or in a 4WD along the Great Beach Drive (conditions and permits apply).

Salty skin
Sunshine Coast beaches are, quite simply, some of the best in the world, rimmed with wide stretches of clean, white sand, and a choice of gnarly surf or calm bays sparkling with warm water. Coolum Beach was voted as the state’s best beach in 2019 by Surf Life Saving Queensland, while Noosa Main Beach and Mooloolaba Beach were both featured in TripAdvisor’s top 10 beaches in Australia in 2019. Mooloolaba and Noosa are also two of very few northern facing beaches on the east coast of Australia, meaning the water is calm and enticing year-round. Experience true iconic beach culture by mixing with the locals and soaking in views of the sand, surf and waves from the best vantage points over a meal or cold drink, at one of the many affordable and familyfriendly surf clubs. Get out and about and take your pick of coastal walks, from Kings Beach to Bulcock Beach, along the boardwalk at Coolum Beach or along the Noosa National Park coastal track. Remember to enjoy Sunshine Coast beaches by always swimming between the red and yellow flags at one of the many patrolled beaches, and follow the instructions and advice of the surf life savers on duty.
