IMPORTANT MEETINGS SINCE 1229 Turku is the oldest city in Finland and one of the most popular conference cities in the country. The Turku City Theatre will adopt use of a completely renovated theatre building in autumn 2017. The home of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra is a traditional hall which hosts, among other events, the Degree Ceremonies of the Universities of Turku. Banker and nobleman Johan Oswald Wasastjerna built Villa Wolax in 1899, in Kuusisto. The villa’s walls are decorated with Axel Hartman’s paintings, which are lit by the villa’s crystal chandeliers. The large grass-covered grounds reach the shoreline and make it possible to organise activities outdoors. The main building’s facilities, two seaside villas of different sizes (the Captain’s sea-

side villa and the Commodore’s seaside villa) and Johanna’s veranda offer premises for a multitude of events, from meetings to family celebrations and sauna evenings. The saunas each have jacuzzis, which fit in total 30 people, and the sauna in the larger seaside villa seats up to 25 people. Visitors can swim in the sea, also in winter when a hole is drilled in
