oNly a Few hoUrs lEft toGetHer Cows produce milk to feed their babies just like humans. This newborn calf will be taken away from her mother within a few hours of birth, so humans can take her milk. Her brother will be shot, or sold for veal. This is the reality of dairy farming.

Š Jo-Anne McArthur/We Animals

When people go dairy-free, fewer cows and their calves suer. Viva! has launched the biggest investigation of dairy farming this year - exposing its reality to the British public to change consumers' minds.

Why has dairy been linked to cancers? How do growth hormones and oestrogen in milk affect us? What are the dangers of milk protein and saturated fats? Do we – and especially our children – need calcium from dairy? Is goats’ milk the answer? If not, where should we obtain calcium and how do we ensure we have strong bones?

But there are choices to make and our habits may have to change. How easy is it to be plastic free, plant-based, and to live a more sustainable life without compromising your vegan principles?
