Theme
A Floating Oasis
Oasis, by definition, is a place with fertile soils and stream flows in the midst of a wasteland, and therefore is often regarded as the ideal living environment by people residing in dessert. It is usually self-sustaining, small in scale and rich in bio-diversity, all of which make it a pleasing sight. Providence Bay, which sits in front of the sea, is such an oasis amongst the highly intense concrete forest that is gradually becoming the dominant view of Hong Kong’s residential space. Accenting the natural landscape and complementing it with fashion elements, Four Lau & Sam Sum attached an ethereal quality to this interior, which differs itself from common luxury apartments that are only after visual opulence. The theme of this project is deluxe cruise suite, an inspiration Four Lau & Sam Sum drew from their client’s love for travelling, which through the magical hands of the designer, was crystallized and turned into a floating oasis and a perpetual fantasy.
Furnishing I
Modern Cruise
The interior is deliberately constructed as a modern streamlined cruise to distract you from the crossbeam, and your eyes will shift to the window with spectacular sea views. The imported wood dining table, wooden floors and Japanese bonsai, serve the purpose of connecting the indoor and outdoor ecological landscape. Using a mirror with vertical plants easily distracts you from the large shoe cabinet at the entrance, and it also provides some green freshness to delight the eye. The imported chandelier above the dining table looks like bubbles, illuminated by the spotlight, its reflection and shadow become a part of the ceiling light and visual decoration. Ceiling echoes with carpet in the living room and dining room which are successfully separated by natural contours. The streaks of the ceiling soften its stiffness into vibrant clouds and plants, along with the specially designed coffee table with "Island / mountain landscape" to strengthen the interesting and natural variability. Lounge chairs were made with simple raw materials, which, alongside with simple dark green sofa, turn the space into somewhere you want to stay most, feeling relaxed and fashionable.
