In the beginning, the Jomos people lived in caves called grotta. Later the Jamon people came out of caves and made villages of circular-plan houses, still keeping and following the image of caves. FACADE ANALYSIS The striking facade of the garage consists of perforated panels specially developed in collaboration with a producer from the automobile industry and a facade construction firm. Figures of birds, windmills, garden gnomes and

birdhouses, all distinctive images of the Province of Flevoland and the city of Almere, were pressed out of the perforated facade panels using vacuum forming technology. The surface relief created by the pressed figures on the panels lends the garage the appearance of a cheerful-looking giant tin can. Since the facade panels act as veils, the garage interior is flooded with daylight. This also creates a sense of community safety and pleasant natural ventilation in the garage. In the evening hours the facade acts as a luminous object that further enhances community safety in the immediate surroundings. The striking garage facade features natural elements such as integrated flower boxes. Copijn garden and landscape architects created a different planting scheme for each facade based on its orientation. 064

In this period, people lived a hunter gatherer life in the northeast of Japan, and late Jomon ruins have been excavated in Miyahata, Fukushima Prefecture. There have been many significant finds and studies related to the Jomon people over the past 20 years. To accommodate the research, investigation, exhibition and educational needs of these studies, a museum became necessary.

The new store draws its inspiration from the ambiance of an authentic château wine cellar. The cellar is built within the foundation walls; buttresses and pillars along the bearing walls add a sense of rhythm to the space. Recessed alcoves carved within these walls provide shelter for the chateau’s own collection of wines. Noble materials, coats of arms and quotations from famous poets team up to transport the consumer.

A majestic wood table, strategically positioned at the back of the store, allows for leisurely or organized tastings; a white quartz inset provides a neutral background to appreciate the color of the wine. Visitors to the world class luxury shops and restaurants at Brookfield Place can pause, reflect, and connect with each other through the interactive and collaborative light installation in the iconic Brookfield Place Winter Garden. In 2015, nearly 1 million visitors experienced Luminaries and cast over 80,000 wishes. For the 2016 holiday season, Brookfield has invited the LAB at Rockwell Group to create three new holiday-inspired animated shows. Each show has two new aspects. First, the shows are three dimensional, utilizing the height of each cube, as well as its relative location in the grid. Second, each show will be choreographed to a classical or contemporary piece of holiday music. The hallmark of Luminaries is its interactivity. Visitors are invited to send wishes into the world through the act of touching one of the three “wishing stations.” When touched, each station cycles through a palette of festive colors, and upon release, each wish materializes as a burst of color traveling through the canopy of lanterns. For a second year, Brookfield has partnered with the GRAMMY Museum to support their music education program. For every wish sent by the public, Brookfield will donate $1 up to $25,000. LUMINARIES’ UNIQUE FEATURES: • Guests will be immersed in a canopy of light emanating from 647 suspended lanterns. • These custom, cubic lanterns are embedded with LEDs, each capable of changing color and intensity. • Luminaries follows the glass-enclosed topography of the Winter Garden, visually drawing visitors through the space, from the stairs to the Hudson River waterfront. • During the holiday season, Luminaries includes three wishing stations located within the Winter Garden’s palm trees. These glowing, touch-sensitive stations invite visitors to make a wish, pulsing in response to their touch. Each wish is sent to a canopy of twinkling lanterns above, translating the wish into a mesmerizing display of lights and colors that travel throughout the lanterns. Hotel Mono is a striking new landmark in the historic Chinatown area in Singapore — the result of an extensive refurbishment of six conservation shophouses from the early 20th century. The hotel design has been conceptualised to appeal to young social-media-savvy travelers who place a high value on design in their choice of accommodations given affordable room prices. Under poor site conditions, as well as budget and time constraints, the design takes advantage of low-cost materials while maximising design value. For example, the old-school mosaic used in the bathrooms is also a nod to the history of the buildings. Meanwhile, the 38mm-thick hollow black metal bar not only provides a different and dramatic visual in each room, but also serves as clothing racks and light casings. Once a rundown budget hotel, the independent hotel now radiates with a minimalist, yet assertive design language.

Created for the new "Grand Museé du Parfume" in Paris, Scent Drops is an experience dedicated to the 25 most used ingredients in Perfume. We took inspiration from the liquid form of perfume and imagined a room full of drips, waves and ripples. Each of the white drops is made of Corian, allowing for seamless joins to the smooth curves. The base of the drop, houses a removable copper finished Orb. A black, flower-like recess in each orb, works to guide the nose and amplify the sound. You simply rotate the orb to select your language, lift off the base and smell the fragrance inside. The orb will then talk to you in your native tongue about the ingredient inside and how it has come to be used in the world of perfume. The interaction is reminiscent of putting a shell to your ear and listening to the sea.

The literal and mythological meaning of the lantern is highly significant throughout Asian history — it leads you through the dark, showing you the way and indicating the beginning and end of a journey. Neri&Hu’s radical transformation of an existing five storey building in Seoul, South Korea, into a grand flagship store for leading Asian skincare brand Sulwhasoo is inspired by these notions of the lantern. The building was designed by Korean architect IROJE and built in 2003. Celebrating the roots of the brand, Neri&Hu wanted to develop a concept with strong connections to Asian culture and traditions, ultimately allowing customers to discover the wealth of Asian wisdom that underpins the Sulwhasoo ethos.

PLANNING OF PUBLISHING

Artpower International Publishing Co., Ltd. Sail Vision, this project located in the southern regions of Wuhan with the construction area of 690 square meters, is a building with an outward sloping roof. The main body of the building is divided into two parts with huge height difference between the first half of 14.7 meters and the second half of 2.8 meters. The indoor five layers overlapping together, with the outer triangle wooden decoration locks the second layer of white blocks, which internally interlocks the third floor of wood-color blocks. The 71 cords of thin metal lines and 20 thick wood tubes with light are hoisting in the medium altitude, to form the lighting equipment of the linear structure. Superposition, incision, with braiding and interlacing of light and line, balance and unbalanced structure of the redefinition, the floating nest is created.

The table is constructed of white oak and finished with Danish oil. The table top features a CNC milled surface to create a dished edge profile. Legs are supported by a dowel cross-brace. The overall concept evolved from an exploration of wood plank configurations. In the first step of the design process, an evaluation of proportion and stance of the legs was determined to make sure that the legs were visually appealing at all angles. The design was then refined to add a sense of character. The edges of legs were soften and the table top surface was given curvature and depth.

This wedding suite was for one of our own! The entire suite was inspired by the Digby & Iona signet Jen & Levi chose as Levi's wedding ring. Each piece has alchemy-inspired designs, including the clasped hands featured on the ring which were also used in the save the date. Because the couple also included elements of handfasting in their ceremony, they felt the symbolism was especially perfect. Jen & Levi's wedding was in their backyard and very small, so they also sent out announcements to friends and family that didn't come. The beautiful flowers are by our friend Jaime of The Monkey Flower Group. All photos styled and shot by Emma K. Morris.

Mario Alessiani presents its last product Antilope, designed for the Italian company Offiseria.

Italian designer Mario Alessiani has created Carati, a collection of side tables inspired by the rings diamond joint system, the setting.

Antilope is a flat pack high stool made of a metal structure that support its wooden parts. Every functional part is showen and it is the main sign of its design, highlighted with colors, and becomes at the same time structure and aestethics of the object. No glue and no joints, it is mounted just with screws. The result is a solid high stool, easy to mount and easy to deliver.

Made of wood and iron, the plane is supported by the metal structure that contains the wood surface like a precious stone. The tables are entirely hand made in Italy. The main idea was to create an atypical relationship between the legs and the plane of the table, where the structure is supported by an horizontal pressure in stead of a vertical one of common tables. The result is the junction system that becames the main protagonist of the sign that is both functional and iconic.

Along the development of the technology makes many people want something different, as well as in the type design. Trend typography with a handmade feel to be one of the most in demand today, especially at special moments like the wedding celebration. Many people who use the services of hand letterer to write down the names for invitations, post cards, table numbers, sign panel, a back drop photo booth up small souvenirs decorated with handmade typography. To answer the needs that i told above then I make Shellahera Fonts, Shellahera is one of many projects that I have made the font, font features 3 different font files in a single package; Script, Sans and Ornament. This font is made by using a brush pen and scanned with high resolution to keep the detail. The combining between the art of handmade writing and sophistication of software today is to make the font is completely different, with a feature known as Open Type Feature. This product is not only the characters to one glyph (character) but has even more than 3 different style to each glyph, thus adding handmade feel in it, because the same character in one sentence is able to have several different styles. Therefore, I wasn't only to beautify this font but made it with a different baseline, I called it a dancing baseline. I also added Shellahera Handmade Sans's font in this package which can be used in conjunction with Shellahera Script as body text. Lastly, because the font is designed to fill the needs in the manufacture of typography with a handmade feel, I added Shellahera Ornament to beautify this package. This font has been widely used for making invitations, framed typography, and sign panels in several events, especially weddings.

Endless possibilities Using hand-drawn illustrations of mushrooms, avocados, cucumbers, and other ingredients, we designed a myriad of patterns which became Maki-San’s main visual identity. These motifs were applied throughout the consumer experience - right down to the packaging - to play up the endless, fun options available for diners. What's in a name? To inspire customers in their Maki creations, we created amusing combinations such as “Kevin’s Bacon”, “Ebi Road”, and “Curry-OK”. The illustrated Maki rolls were extruded to reveal their ingredients.

A fresh take on sushi The client wanted to launch Singapore’s first ever fully customizable sushi store. Being offered a wide selection of fresh ingredients, diners could pick and choose precisely what went into their hand-rolls. "Maki-San" We proposed naming the store “Maki-San” for one simple reason: the word “-San” roughly translates as “mister” or “missus” in Japanese, and by using this suffix, each Maki could be uniquely personified. This idea also extends to operations: customers can name their own rolls however they choose to. The logo is made up of emoticons commonly used in Japanese pop culture.
