Design rationale Colour I’ve decided to go with poppy red and iron blue. The poppy red is of course quite logical since the poppy is the symbol of World War I because it was the flower that was growing on the fields of the trenches and it also ressembles the colour of blood. The iron blue resembles the fighting and the steel and iron of the weapons used during World War I.
Grid I tried to word around the grid because well they say that whenever people give you rules you should try and break them. I didn’t really break them because I made the whole poster on the given grid and then turned it. The rationale behind it was that it looked more assymetrical and well during the war nothing is really balanced or symmetrical. And then I also wanted it to be diagonal because this symbolizes the dynamity of a war.
Shape I decided to go with long rectangles because to me they ressemble the threnches. The trenches were always set up in three stages. As you can see with the blue rectangles. Then the red lines are the rectangles that align the two forces.
