Rain MIGHT be back this week.... ...but it won’t be much if it does! MANY weather forecasts are predicting at least another week to ten days of uninterrupted sun in County Carlow, as the heatwave continues....but Alan O’Reilly, the man behind the popular carlowweather.com website, says there is a 50/50 chance of rain in just two days time. At the time of writing, his forecast for Thursday July 5 was a high temperature of 22 degrees, a breeze of just 3 mph...and a 50% chance of precipitation. However, even if the rain does come, it will barely be felt. His forecast is for no more than 2mm to 5mm of rain...barely enough to wet the ground before WKH VXQVKLQH GULHV LW R྾ DJDLQ He says there is also a 20% chance of rain again on Friday...

but again, it will be only in the region of 2mm worth. Which means that the ‘real’ forecast in indeed for another ten days of more of sweltering sunshine in Carlow, where daily temperatures in the high twenties have become commonplace in recent weeks. Most are continuing to enjoy the sun, though the prolonged hot and dry weather has begun to have some unwelcome FRQVHTXHQFHV WRR 6SHFLÂżFDOO\ it has led to nightly water cuts in the areas served by the Central Regional Water Supply (Ballon, Fenagh, Myshall, Kildavin, and Clonegal). Others on mains water and group water schemes throughout the county are also being urged to conserve water where possible.
