We go all out to save summer WATERFORD is praying for good weather to save its summer. The council has unveiled its plan to lift the city and county out of lockdown and the emphasis is on outdoor activity. The Covid-19 Economic Recovery Plan will create more pedestrian areas and spaces for outdoor eating. There is to be a grant-aided Outdoor Street Furniture scheme and the council is waiving the licence fee for interested businesses. There will also be a new tourism campaign showcasing the Great Outdoors in Waterford. The Shop Local campaign will be stepped up and the council is reducing the cost parking in the city wth a ‘one free hour’ deal. The plan has been devised by Waterford City and County Council in consultation with tourism ansd hospitality interests, colleges, community groups and the Chambers and Commerce of Waterford and Dungarvan. campaign focusing on outdoor acrtivities, *a business restart grant scheme, *installing thermal imaging terminals to encourage safe shopping. Cllr Pratt said the plan was not just for Waterford city, or the larger towns of Dungarvan and Tramore.
“It is also for all the rural towns and villages from Tallow and Ballyduff in the west to Portlaw and Passage in the east and all points in between,” he said. “We want to rebuild and recover as One Waterford and this plan allows us the flexibility and the focus to do this” >>Turn to Page 2
