An Taisce accused of jobs sabotage AN TAISCE has come under intense fire for appealing a High Court decision to grant planning permission for a €140m cheese plant at Belview. Waterford senator John Cummins is one of a group of senior politicians who claim the heritage group’s approach to planning is “beyond comprehension”. They say An Taisce, which is funded by taxpayers, has alienated farmers and is “objecting to housing and forestry up and down the country”. In a statement, they say: say: “The Government must now look again at An Taisce being funded by the taxpayer, its consistent opposition of government policy and possibly their special status under the planning acts.” Seantor Cummins (FG) is joined in the protest by Tipperary senator, Garret Ahearn, and four Fine Gael TDs, all former ministers. The deputies are: Charlie Flanagan (Laois/Offaly), Paul

Kehoe (Wexford), John Paul Phelan (Carlow Kilkenny) and David Stanton (Cork East). They say it is not too late for An Taisce to withdraw its appeal against Glanbia’s joint venture with a Dutch firm specialising in cheesemaking. Their statement says: “This appeal is a massive blow to the entire workforce at the company.” This development had been approved by Kilkenny County Council, and An Bord Pleanala and cleared by the High Court . “How An Taisce (funded by the taxpayer) are taking the planning system and Government policy to a second court is beyond comprehension, as is how they are also objecting to housing, and forestry up and down the country,” the politicians say. “Timber supplies nationwide are running critically low as a direct consequence of this, with direct impacts now evident across the construction sector. “In taking this further appeal An Taisce is alienating the >>Turn to page 3

€27m to make city dream come true THE transformation of Waterford city has taken a huge step forward with the announcement that more than €27m funding has been approved by the Government. The money will be invested in projects across the wider Viking Triangle and Cultural Quarter areas. There are plans for a plaza to the rear of Parade Quay, linking it with Greyfriars, and for a linear park along Spring Garden Alley. Senator John Cummins, a long time champion of the project, hailed the news as “transformative”. Mayor Damien Geoghegan said the develoopments would bring back people to live, work and socialise in the city. The allocation of €27.66m is the second tranche of funding for Waterford from the Urban Regeneration Development Fund (URDF). It follows an allocation of €96m for the North Quays development which will link both sides of the city with a new bridge and transport hub.

Cllr Geoghegan said the council could now “realise the creative and ambitious designs across 20 or more locations in the Cultural Quarter and Viking Triangle”. Senator Cummins said it was a vote of confidence in the city by the Government. “This is a really ambitious regeneration project for Waterford city centre and I would like to commend the team at Waterford City and County Council for their vision and for their collaborative work with groups like the Cultural Quarter Steering Committee,” he said. The council expects to spend nearly €12 million on seven projects in the wider Viking Triangle area including the creation of a new Friary Precinct. “There has been enormous investment in the Viking Triangle area over the past decade and it has transformed before our very eyes,” said Senator Cummins. “Bailey’s New Street with the wonderful backdrop of Greyfriars and the Viking >>Turn to page 3

Ashling McCoy, who is studying Nursing and Health Care at Waterford Institute of Technology, has been awarded the prestigious Health Research Board undergraduate Student Research Summer Scholarship.

THESE transition year students from Tramore’a Ardscoil Na Mara have been designing a home that can cater for the needs of everyone. They entered the CIF Home For Everyone Challenge, working remotely because of Covid restrictions. Their entry was short-listed in the competition which was won by Castle Island Community College, Co Kerry. The team persuaded engineers from Weltec

Engineering to give an insight on the correct ways to design a house and one member, Jules Casey, used CAD software to help create digital designs of the house. Róisin Ní Chadla and Louise Walsh worked on the project presentation and the sustainability factors. Freya Bolster looked at the potential for mass production and Aisling Milner attended a call with Denise Tuffy to gather tips on a good house design. She also handled the

technology factor : how to use technology in your home. Amy Hayden focused on the ways a home adds to the community . The team are pictured with Keith Cunningham and school principal, Padraig Cawley. main group involved in environmental protection across Ireland – our farmers and their families.” The politicians say An Taisce has alienated farmers by withdrawing from the 2030 food strategy. “This small cohort has been allowed to hijack an entire industry. Which sector is next?” they ask. They say it’s not too late for An Taisce to withdraw its appeal “and to work with the planning system, rather than constantly against it”. Glanbia Ireland, in a statement, noted “with deep disappointment” An Taisce’s decision to appeal the High Court decision . Glanbia Ireland chairman John Murphy said: “We passionately believe in this project, which is critical to our market diversification post Brexit and will support Ireland’s postCovid recovery.” He said they were ready to meet An Taisce for “constructive dialogue.”

Own goal: Covid woe as Blues hit bottom WATERFORD FC are looking for a new manager, their third in just over a year. The short and turbulent reign of former Everton and Ireland star Kevin Sheedy ended after a 3-0 defeat by champions Shamriock Rovers left theBlues bottom of the Premier League table. His assistant Mike Newell also resigned. Newell was not with the manager fot the match in Tallaght because of a sevengame touchline ban. Sheedy had only four subs on the bench, refusing to name a full squad in protest at what he said was descrimnation by referees against his side. Mike Geoghegan, head of the academy, took charge for Saturday’s clash with Drogheda United and was immediately hit with another problem. After two of the senior players were deemed close contacts of a confirmed Covid-19 case, Geoghegan decided to stand down the senior team and played the club’s Under-19 squad. They were hammered 0-7. The caretaker boss felt his side’s defeat was no worse than he had feared “It went a little bit better than we’d hoped in the second half because these guys haven’t played a pre-season match,”

he told RTÉ Sport. Geoghegan says the priority now is to find a new management team and move off the bottom of the table. “We have the structures in place, we have the training ground, we have the facility here and we have a very strong academy coming through which will produce results,” he said. “But in the short-term, it depends on who can come in to get a fix on that first team and get them playing.” Sheedy and Newell were in charge for nine games and seven of them ended in defeat. Prior to the Covid problem, Geoghegan confirmed that veteran keeper Brian Murphy had been recalled to the team. Murphy (37) began the season, his second term with his hometown club, as first-choice keeper but four games into the campaign he was axed by Sheedy and did not even make the matchday squad. The Irish Independent reported that the former Bohemians man made representations, initially to Sheedy and subsequently to club owner Lee Power, about concerns over the standard of training. The newspaper said Sheedy and Newell declined to attend a meeting which Power had arranged with Murphy to sort out their differences.

‘Devastating’ fire sweeps clubhouse A SMALL soccer cub is planning a fund-raising campaign to replace premises ruined by a fire. The gym, dressing rooms and referees’ room were destroyed by the blaze at Leonard Fraser Park in Tallow, home of Brideview United. In a Facebook posting, the club confimred that “our changing rooms at Leonard Fraser Park were gutted by fire ... the gym, dressing rooms and referees room are completely destroyed, thankfully the new extension seems to be unaffected.” Local councillor John Pratt said the damage was “devastating”.

“ It’s a massive loss to the area.” he said, but he added: “We’re a strong community and I have no doubt, if needed, people will stand up and fundraise to help the club through this.” The club thanked everyone for their good wishes and messages of support. “ It would appear that nothing malicious occurred and we now look ahead to rebuilding so as we can serve the community once more,” it said on Facebook. The alarm was raised by a woman, whose “prompt actions” may have prevented destruction of the entire building, the club said.

17th Century Man Poots makes a bid for power

O

f the many changes Ireland has seen in recent years, none has been more dramatic than the collapse of organised religion. It is in decline all over the western world, but the retreat, which has taken the best part of a century in, say, Britain and France, has been condensed into a few decades here. New CSO figures on marriage paint a stark picture. In 1980 almost everyone who married in Ireland did so in a church. Fewer than two per cent of marriages happened at a non-religious ceremony. For 2020, the figure was 49.8%. In 1980, 96.2%.of marriages in the Republic of Ireland took place in a Roman Catholic church. In 2020 the figure was 34.6%. The abandonment of organ-

Michael Wolsey

ised religion is even greater than those numbers suggest, since many people like to get married in a church, for the ceremony, the tradition, or maybe to please their families. They may not be back in one until they are carried there in a coffin. The decline in worship is often attributed to scandals in

the Church but I don’t think that tells the full tale. In truth, people have simply stopped believing the Christian story. They may retain their own personal spirituality and belief in an after-life. But the Bible story, on which the Church was built, is no longer seen as credible. When I was a child the story was taught in simple and almost literal terms by clergy and catechism. It began with Original Sin in the Garden of Eden and advanced through various trials and tribulations to the Virgin Birth and, as Superintendent Ted Hastings would remind us, Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the wee donkey. Organised religion exists to explain and promote that story. If the story is no longer believed, then the Church is left with only a social and ceremonial function. There remains, however, one section of Irish society in which

the story is believed in its most literal form and a representative of that group is favourite to be the next leader of Northern Ireland’s biggest political party. Edwin Poots, the north’s agriculture minister, is a creationist who believes the Earth is just 6,000 years old. I’m not sure if he holds that life began with Adam and Eve and was saved from watery extinction by a boat builder called Noah, but he does not believe in evolution, maintaining that all species arrived on the planet in their present form. “My view of the Earth is that it’s a young Earth,” he told the BBC. “My view is (that it was created in) 4,000 BC”. So Mr Poots believes in something that has been proven totally untrue. It is disturbing that a man with such ideas should be given a role in governing how others live. Mr Poots is aiming to replace

Arlene Foster who was ousted as DUP leader, in part because she refused to support ‘gay conversion’, a ‘therapy’ which attempts to ‘convert’ homosexual men and women to heterosexuality. On a recent edition of the BBC programme Newsnight, veteran DUP politician Nelson McCausland attempted to explain this extraordinary concept to interviewer Emily Maitlis. Ms Maitlis is a very experienced broadcaster. She is not surprised by much, but it was clear from her questioning and tone of voice that she found this absolutely bewildering. When the camera briefly caught her face, it revealed an expression of puzzlement appropriate to someone who had suddenly found themselves transported back to the seventeenth century. Mr Poots voted against banning gay conversion. Even if he does not get chosen as DUP

leader he could well end up as First Minister of Northern Ireland, because his rival, Jeffrey Donaldson, sits at Westminster, not the Stormont assembly. If Mr Poots gets the job, politicians who represent the rest of the country - a country increasingly sceptical about all religious teaching - will be expected to work with this fundamentalist and, to some extent, accommodate his views. It does not bode well. The natural instinct of reasonable politicians is to compromise and that is what leaders in Dublin and London will try to do over Brexit and other divisive issues. But how do you compromise with a man from the seventeenth century? How does a country that increasingly rejects organised religion find common ground with someone whose beliefs would sit comfortably with those of Oliver Cromwell?

Writing’s on the wall for graffiti louts A COUNCILLOR has declared war on Waterford’s graffiti vandals. Eamon Quinlan wants greater fines and other penalties for people who deface historic buildings or momnuments. He spoke out following the defacement of centuries-old cannons in the Peoples Park and the appeartance of graffiti at the Bandstand and other city centre locations . Cllr Quinlan told a meeting of Waterford city and County Council that by-laws relating to graffiti on walls in public places need to be tougher when it ccomes to momnuments. He told Waterford Today: “ In law, we operate proportionality; as the severity of the crime increases so does the punishment. Our by-laws cover defacement of regular walls, the

ruination of something that has stood as a custodian to centuries of the Deise is far worse.” At present, graffiti vandals can be prosecuted under the Criminal Damage Act and the Litter Pollution Act, 1997. They can be fined up to €10,000 and even face a prison senternce, although such penalties are rarely imposed. Waterford Council’s Director of Services, Fergus Galvin, said any change to the local bylaws would need Government approval. Cllr Quinlan said he would riase this with the relevant departments.

Planting a tree for life

DESPITE awful weather and Covid restrictions, thousands of people saw in the dawn on Saturday morning to raise funds for Pieta House, helping those dealing with suicide and self-harm. Waterford Council marked the occassion by sponsoring the planting of a tree in the People’s Park. Pieta Waterford said it would be a special place for people who have lost loved ones to suicide. “This tree is a symbol of

hope and solidarity with those struggling with suicidal thoughts, a place to pause and remember them,” said Jo Cregan of the Waterford Darkness Into Light Committee. Pieta House described the weather for Darkness Into Light as “challenging for a challenging year”. Participants walked, ran, swam or hiked on their own or in their social bubble. More than 140,000 people signed up to take part in the

Locksdown ghosts spook hairdressers AS hairdressers across Waterford open again, owners are fearing a plague of ‘ghost bookings’ from people who make appointments but don’t show up. A survey has revealed that when salons reopened in July last year, after the first lockdown, Waterford was the second worst county for these ghostings. According to data from Phorest - the leading software used by Irish salons to take online bookings - 7.2% of Waterford people didn’t show up for their appointments and gave no notice. The worst offenders were in Wesmeath (9%) while Leitrim was a cut above the rest with only 3.1% no-shows. The average was 6%. Phorest has developed a new variable deposits feature that allows salon owners to automatically charge higher upfront deposits for higher risk clients, such as those who have been no-shows in the past, as

well as for services with higher outlay costs. As car salesrooms prepare to re-open on May 17, the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) has released figures which show an upturn in sales with 7,166 new cars registrations for the month of April compared to just 343 in April 2020 and 8,904 in April 2019, before the Covid pandemic. In the year to the end of April, 55,207 new cars were registered, compared to 50,138 for the same period in 2020. The figure for Waterford was 1,380 , compared with 1,287 for 2020. Waterford businesses, meanwhile, have been advised to apply for funding under the new round of the Online Retail Scheme. “Waterford businesses that had 10 or more employees on or before 29 February 2020 , or have grown to this level since then, should apply for the fund,” said Senator John Cummins.

Going potty for Pollinators

Bombus pratorum male (Photo Justin Ivory) You don’t need a large garden, or even a garden at all to help our pollinators (bees, butterflies, hoverflies etc). By planting up a ‘pot for pollinators’ (or a windowbox), your patio, balcony or window ledge can become an essential ‘pollinator pitstop’. And to make it easy for us, the good folks at the AIPP (All-Ireland Pollinator Plan) and the NBDC (National Biodiversity Data Centre) have produced a downloadable step-by-step guide on how to create a pollinator pot. https://pollinators.ie/wpcontent/uploads/2021/03/ NBDC_flyer_Pots-forPollinators_LR.pdf So, this weekend I decided to give it a go and create 2 such pots. What I used: 2 x 50cm wide pots Peat-free organic compost 4 x pollinator friendly plants (3 perennials and 1 annual) - Erysimum ‘Bowles Mauve’ - Lavandula stoechas - Nemesia ‘Wisely Vanilla’ - Bidens (yellow) The steps I took: Filled the pots 2/3rds with compost Removed the well-watered plants gently from their containers Placed the plants in the pot with the tallest at the back Filled in around the plants with compost and pressed down to a few centimetres below the top of the pots Watered the pots well

To be found in her embrace And we see the light of Heaven Shining from a mother’s face.

In loving memory of Tony Roche, late of Newrath, Waterford, whose anniversary occurs on 10th May. Tony, When the emptiness of missing you, Is more than I can bear, I whisper ‘Tony I love you’, And always find you there, For you left behind your spirit, It guides me like a light, your gentleness surrounds me, To be with me all my life, So if you see me crying, And looking very sad, It’s because I miss you so Tony, And the special times we had. -Loved and sadly missed, your wife Breda

8th & 31st Anniversaries MARGARET “PEGGY” & JOE MILLEA

In loving memory of Declan O’Sullivan, late of Riverview, who died 7th May 2005 aged 28 years.

- Lots of love Mam, Rasher

In memory of Breda Mooney, late of 90 Hennessy’s Road, whose 3rd anniversary occurs on 8th May. The moment that you died My heart was torn in two, One side filled with heartache, The other died with you. I often lie awake at night, When the world is fast asleep, And take a walk down memory lane, With tears upon my cheeks. Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday, But missing you is heartache That never goes away. I hold you tightly within my heart And there you will remain. Until the joyous day arrives, That we will meet again. - I will always love and miss you, your loving husband Michael You had a smile for everyone, You had a heart of gold, You left the sweetest memories, This world could ever hold To us you were someone special, Someone kind and true, You will never be forgotten For we thought the world of you. -Love you Mam, Mick & Fiona You gave us everything you had, Your time, your love & care, You never asked for anything And you were always there, Your life you lived unselfishly, With your gentle loving ways, No verse can say, No flowers repay, The wonderful mother We lost that day. - You were the best Mam, Gary There’s magic in mother’s touch, And sunshine in her smile There’s love in everything she does To make our lives worthwhile We can find both love and courage Just by looking in her eyes Her laughter is a source of joy, Her words are warm and wise There is a kindness and compassion

A wife, a mother, a grandma too, This is the legacy we have from you. You taught us love and how to fight, You gave us strength, you gave us might. A stronger person would be hard to find, And in your heart, you were always kind. You fought for us all in one way or another, Not just as a wife not just as a mother. For all of us you gave your best, Now the time has come for you to rest. So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep, Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep. - Love you Mam, Brian The golden gate stood open, God saw you needed a rest, His garden must be beautiful As he only takes the best, Each day we think of you, Each night we say a prayer, We ask God to look after you With love and tender care. - Simply the best, Jake. No matter how life changes, No matter what we do, A special place within our hearts Is always kept for you. - We miss you Nanny, Sophie, Charlie and Alfie. A bouquet of beautiful memories, Sprayed with a million tears, Wishing God could have spared you, If just for a few more years. - Love you Mam, Michael, Teegan and Cameron. My dearest darling Sister, How can I find the words to say, To tell of how I miss you, Throughout each and every day. I miss our little chats, The way you’d listened to me moan, And how you’d always cheer me up, Whenever you would phone, Living life without you is so, Very hard to bear, And I’d give all I have to waken you, And see you standing there.

In loving memory of our treasured parents Margaret “Peggy” and Joe Millea late of Arbor Road, Waterford who died on 1st May 2013 and 20th May 1990. Lyndsey & Richard, Aaron & Thinking of times when we were Emma, Christopher all together, Wishing these times could last forever, This day is remembered and In my thoughts you both are alquietly kept, No words are needed, ways there, We will never forget. Still loved, still missed, still very dear. -Loved and missed by grand son Colin, wife Tracy and great -Always remembered and sadly granddaughters Sophie, Anna missed, by your and Sara daughter Katherine Your names are often spoken, Our thoughts are with you still, You haven’t been forgotten and never will, We send you all our love. -Your grandsons Ian, Eric, Alan, Louise and great grand daughters Abi & Ellie Time slips by but still you both stay, As near and dear as yesterday, No longer in our lives to share, But in our hearts, You are always there. Memories are something no one can steal. -Sadly missed and loved by daughter Monica and son in law Gary Nanny & Grandad As each day dawns we think of you, As each night falls we pray for you, And throughout our lives no matter where, In our hearts you both are always there. -Always remembered by

A rose once grew where all could see, Sheltered beside a garden wall, And as the days passed swiftly by, It spread its branches straight and tall, One day a beam of light shone through, A crevice that had opened wide, The rose bent gently toward its warmth, Then passed beyond to the other side, Now you who deeply feel its loss, Be comforted, the rose blooms there, It’s beauty even greater now, Nurtured by God’s own loving care. - From your loving family

21st Anniversary JOSEPHINE DOYLE

When I think of you, I cry I do not mind, Because each teardrop, Is for you…, And each teardrop, Brings a memory, And each memory, Brings a smile. - From your brothers Richard, Mark and John. If I could write a story, It would be the greatest ever told, Of a kind and loving father, Who had a heart of gold, I could write a million pages, But there’s one thing I would say, Just how much I love and miss him, Every single day, I know he always loved me, I may be hurt, but I won’t be sad, I know he’ll send down the answers, Because he’ll always be my Dad.

I love my uncle very much, He’s my shining star, And if he could, he’d be here, But heaven’s just too far, And sometimes when I close my eyes, It’s like he never went away. - From all your nieces and nephews.

If memories bring us close, We are never far apart, for you are always with us, In our thoughts and in our hearts. - Loved and remembered everyday, Ger, Bernie & family

- From Michael & Frances, and cousins Gillian, Mark & Ian

- From your mother Ann

- From your daughters Kaoife and Saoirse x.

- Always loved and never forgotten Darren, Aunt Ann, John and your 7 cousins

Like falling years the leaves roll by, But memories of you will never die, Sunshine passes, shadows fall, But memories of you outlast them all.

On the day God took you, I thought that I would die, I wondered where the time went? I asked a lot of whys?? With people all around me, I felt alone inside, From all their words of comfort, I couldn’t seem to hide, I thought ‘This can’t be happening’, As I wiped another tear, On the day that you were laid to rest, My heart broke yet again, I wondered if the pain would end, But mostly I wondered when? It’s hard to be without you, At times the days seem long, Sometimes I just sit crying, When there’s really nothing wrong, I wish we’d had more time, Before your life was done, I hope you’re resting peacefully, My precious one.

Fond memories of my mother Josie, late of 15 Ursuline Court and 5 Grange Tce., who went to God suddenly on 13th May 2000 R.I.P. Mass offered on that day. Her remembrance is a golden chain, Death tried to break but all in vain, To have to love and then to part, Is the greatest sorrow of one’s heart, The years may wipe out many things, But this they wipe out never, The memory of those those happy days when we were all together. - Never forgotten by your daughter Breda, son in law Sam and grandchildren.

They say it gets easier, As time goes by, It never gets easier!, It just gets longer, Between missing you, You were never easy, In all the right ways, That’s what made you special - I miss you bro, from your sister Geraldine. You’ll never be forgotten, That simply cannot be, As long as I am living , I’ll carry you with me, Safely tucked within my heart, Your light will always shine; A glowing ember never stilled, Throughout the end of time, No matter what the future brings, Or what may lie ahead, I know that you will walk with me, Along the path I tread, So rest my angel, be at peace, And let your soul fly free, One day I’ll join your glorious flight, For all eternity. - From your sister Tanya.

Don’t think of her as gone away, Her journey’s just begun, Life holds so many facets, This earth is only one, Just think of her as resting, From the sorrows and the tears, In a place of warmth and comfort, Where there are no days or years, Think of her as living, In the hearts of those she touched, For nothing loved is ever lost, And she was loved so much. - Your ever loving son Damien and Darina If lilies grow in Heaven Lord, Please pick a bunch for us, Place them in Grandma’s arms, And tell her they’re from us, Tell her we love and miss her, And when she turns to smile, Place a kiss upon her cheek, And hold her for a while. - Love always , Alannah & Daragh The gates of Heaven opened wide, The angels lined up side by side, A special guest was on her way, The day God took our sister away, Nothing could be more beautiful, Than the thoughts we have of you, To us you were someone special, And god knew that too. Never a heart more loving, Never a heart more true, We were proud of you our sister, We thought the world of you. - Sadly missed and always remembered by Lily, Nicko, Ger, Richie and families Novena Prayer to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Remember, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the great things the Lord has done for you; He chose you for His mother, He wanted you close to His cross, He gives you a share in His glory. Let us live like you in the love of your Son that His Kingdom may come. Treasured memories of our lovely sister Kay Murray nee Myers, late of 5 Andrew St. Huwet, New Jersey U.S.A. whom God called home 19th May 2019 R.I.P. I sit here and ponder how very much I’d like to talk with you today, There are so many things that we didn’t get to say, I know how much you love me and how much I love you, And each time that I think of you, I know you’ll miss me too, An angel came and took you by the hand and said your place was ready in heaven far above, And you had to leave behind all those you dearly loved, You had so much to live for, you had so much to do… It still seems impossible that God was taking you, And though your life on earth is passed, in heaven it starts anew, You’ll live for all eternity, just as God had promised you, And though you’ve walked through heavens gate, We are never far apart, For every time I think of you, You’re right here, Deep within my heart. - Forever loved, never forgotten, your big sister Eileen, Johnny and family. If flowers grow in heaven, On a land that’s wild and free, Lord, place some in my sisters arms, And tell her they’re from me, Please tell her they’re from me, Please tell her that I love her, And I miss her every day, And tell her there’s still so much, That I would like to say, Remembering her is easy, She’s in everything I do, I miss her so much every day, But I know she’s safe with you, If tears could build a stairway, Made from all the pain, I’d walk right up to heaven, And bring her back again. Lord please take care of her, And I hope that she will see, That she was a such a special person, And a special sister to me. - Loved forever, your sister

Ann, Kiley and Alana, Florida U.S.A. Constantly thinking, Never to be the same, The tears fall quickly, Just hearing your name, Silence is golden, Yet not no more, Silence brings thoughts, I just can’t ignore, The nights are sleeping, Dreams out of reach, Crying in my pillow, To you I beseech, Surrounded by family, I still feel alone, My heart is so empty, The pain I must own, I wish I could hug you, And just to see your face, But now I have memories, To stand in your face, Gone but not forgotten, That’s what they say, Of course that is true, But if only you could have stayed. - Forever loved, missed so much, your little sister Sharon, Chicken and Tonya Of all the most blessings, However great or small, To have had you for a sister, Was the greatest one of all, The family chain is broken now. And nothing seems the same, But as God will take us one by one, The chain will link again. - Loved forever, your sister Debbie. Although we cannot hear her voice, Or see her smile no more, Our Mum walks beside us still, Just as she did before, She listens to our stories, And she wipes away our tears, She wraps her arms around us, And she understands our fears, It’s just she isn’t visible, To see with human eye, But talk to her in silence and her spirit will reply, We feel the love she has for us, We hear her in our heart, She’s left her human body, But out souls will never part. -Love you forever Mum, from Avery and Benjamin.

When we are weary and in need of strength, When we are lost and sick at heart, We remember him. When we have a joy we crave to share, When we have decisions that are difficult to make, When we have achievements that are based on his We remember him. At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring, We remember him. At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer, At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, We remember him. At the rising of the sun and at its setting, We remember him. As long as we live, he too will live in our hearts. For he is now a part of us, As we remember him. - From Mam, Denise, Jacqueline & Jillian. o holy st anthony Gentlest of saints, your love for God and charity for your neighbour, made you worthy while on earth to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought I implore of you to obtain for me my request....(Pause) The answer to my prayer may require a miracle, even so you are the saint of miracles. O gentle and loving St Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, intercede for me and whisper my prayer into the ear of the sweet Infant Jesus who loved to linger in your arms and the gratitude of my heart will be yours.
