‘Not a day goes past when we don’t think of Gavin’ By Jake Maxwell THE father of super hero Gavin Glynn has spoken about how the memory of his son will never leave him. Bray could see big cruise ships dock at harbour By Jake Maxwell

BRAY Harbour is set for a million euro revamp which could see cruise ships dock in the busy seaside town. Bray Municipal District will provide funding for the rejuvenation of the harbour, after approving a proposal by the Bray Harbour Joint Development Committee. The plan will involve restoring the south harbour wall to where it was before the collapse of the pier wall and lighthouse in 1957, and will also see pontoons put in place that will boost marine-related activities and tourism. The pontoons will mean that locals and visitors will now have access to marine leisure activities. And the local economy is also set to see a boost with increased spending from visitors and more mooring available for letting

How the Harbour would look are the revamp

which will increase fees. In the southwestern corner of the harbour there will also be an urban space, which not only creates an amenity for locals but will also bring an environmentally friendly way of dealing with surplus sand. Posting the plans online, the Bray Harbour Action Group said: “The Bray Harbour Joint Development Committee is made up of members of the Bray Harbour Action Group (representing harbour users) and four representatives from

Wicklow County Council. “The committee acknowledges the support of Wicklow Chief executive, Councillors and of¿FLDOV LQ DFKLHYLQJ WKLV SRVLWLYH outcome for Bray. The likely cost of the project is estimated at €1m. “This development will not only transform the harbour area but it also has the potential to make Bray an attractive Harbour Town providing additional amenities for local people and attracting visitors by land and sea.”

Tips for finding By Jake Maxwell LOOKING for a good builder is a time-consuming task. Whatever is the type of the

house you are going for, you must ensure that it is a good quality one from a reputable builder. Here are some tips to help you choose a builder.

Start with a list of potential builders. Make use of the property section of your local newspapers to search for builders and projects. Check with friends and relatives for recommendations and opinions. If they recently had the same work done, ask them about the builders they were associated with and how was their experience with them. Do not be fooled by fake builders. Some builders fraudulently claim membership of trade associations, VR YHULI\ LI RQH LV D ERQD ¿GH member or not. It’s time for homework! Once you have prepared a list of potential builders, now it is time to start enquiring about the potential builders and people who have bought homes from them. Visit the builders personally and ask your queries. Check with them if they are insured or not. They should have insurance to protect themselves and to deal their liability to you in the case of property
