fter years writing about weddings, I’ve witnessed many trends in the bridal world. This year, so many new ideas have gained popularity that I decided to list some favorite things I’ve learned from couples planning their big day:  #memorablephrases are just a Wedding Hashtag away. Couples and their guests anxious to share the details of the day on Instagram and Twitter dream up a clever ‘play on words and names’ to symbolize their day.  Engagement photos are the favored opportunity to get to know your photographer; practice your romantic moves together; state the theme of your wedding; get in your beauty trial run; and put that Save-the-Date on everyone’s calendar– all in one session.  Dreaming up- and saving up- for the most exotic Honeymoon Plan. Couples are researching and choosing hot spots around the world to decompress and celebrate their love. They’re looking for adventure, luxury and a much-deserved getaway as the ‘icing on their cake.’  Writing their vows has become a shared decision. Personal, lighthearted and endearing, couples are putting their commitment in writing, using their own vernacular and personal references to make it all the more real.  Brides are finally admitting that Wedding Planning is a huge undertaking and that regardless of how far ahead they begin, it can’t be done without the help of a professional planner; or at 10 vowbride.com

A sea of black, white and gold was embellished with stunning arrangements of white peonies, and who could forget the spectacular crystal curtain that hung in the atrium? In lieu of favors, Brittany and Al made a donation to Miriam’s Kitchen Homeless Advocacy Organization. From the personal touches of an iconic English postbox (to collect cards) to the ‘Best Dancer Award’ (which went to the bride’s Godmother “Boo”), this evening swept the couple into a magical whirlwind they will never forget.

The two met through mutual friends and had their first date at Waterman’s, not knowing they would later tie the knot just blocks away. Both brides wore classy lace gowns, while their maids wore matching dresses in lavender and coral. They included personal touches in a stunning floral arch, custom monogram light on the beach including the words “Kocham Cie” meaning, “I Love You” in Polish. Ashley and Mattâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s vintage wedding affair was set in the lush gardens of the Virginia Zoo. Inspired by sweet and intimate details, just-picked floral bouquets, family heirlooms and lots of handmade decorations enhanced the charming the setting. The couple, who both studied at Regent University, met while on class trip to New York - only after Mattâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Gameboy died and he had no choice but to talk to Ashley on the drive. A year-and-a-half later on their anniversary, Matt proposed during a romantic picnic at First Landing State Park - while their photographers captured the whole event from afar. Ashley wore a lace, fit and flare gown with a scalloped, sweetheart neckline. From the African Okavango Delta to the Bamboo Gardens of Asia, the couple knows that love has no boundaries.

omen desperately seeking a strapless bra to meet the criteria of today’s formal necklines and body-hugging fit feel the challenge. Bridal and bridesmaid gowns feature plunging and unique décolletés that demand support. Adhesive and foam inserts work for only a few silhouettes. Finding something to hold it all together is, in the words of bra fitting expert Frederika (Freddy) Zappe (who recently spoke at The Full Cup in Virginia Beach,) “the bane of our existence.” According to Freddy, “it’s all about the fit.” Period. Getting fitted by an expert (The Full Cup has fitters on staff) is the answer and it has to be exact. Freddy suggests getting this

done before the first gown fitting so that brides arrive ready for their gown measurements. She notes that finding a strapless bra with a wide band, a snug fit around the ribcage running parallel to the floor is the first hurdle. Secondly, the underwire needs to sit behind the breast tissue and not on the ribcage. Lastly, the front section should touch the center of skin. I did strobing on her skin with shimmering MAC Soft and Gentle powder. I kept the lip very neutral, defining the shape and filling in with soft neutral color and gloss. Q} Outfitting a venue is a lot like creating a movie set. What should couples consider first? A} Is the space a reflection of you both and your style? Is it realistic for the type of event and the amount of people you want to have? Better to have a stunning event for 100 people than a not-so-memorable event for 200. Q} Do you subscribe to the ‘Less is More’ or ‘More is More’ for decor? A} Often the money you spend on one “must have” element could be used to bring in a number of other dynamic details that might make more of an impact. Q} From a cost standpoint, what is less expensive– renting a venue space or having a wedding at your family home “en plein air?” A} Renting a venue space is normally less. The tradeoff is that you’re showcasing an already experienced location vs. a never- been-seen one. At home you can start the transformation process days in advance. In a rented space, everything must be installed the day of. Q} What are your favorite elements– chairs, linens, chandeliers, tableware– to take the look of a wedding up a notch? A} Full length linens make all the difference! Pretty chairs change a room and make a statement. The best way to make an ugly ceiling go away is re-light the room. Q} What is your favorite Southern wedding ‘look’? A} Choose a look that’s a natural reflection of you both and not something that’s currently trending on Pinterest.

A} We consider the reception location, season and their vision of service style (seated formal or casual.) A} While buffet and plated meals will always be a mainstay, stations are far more enticing. They encourage movement, excitement and visual interest to the meal. Q} How has the palate of today’s couple changed? A} Couples are making the traditional sophisticated by taking a new look at traditions of the past and putting a fresh millennial spin on it. They want to know where their food comes from, what trendy cocktails can each course be paired with and how to accommodate food allergies and vegetarian requests. Erin became a Pure Barre fan when her dedicated gym routine wasn’t producing the wedding day results. What started as a “gown goal” became a necessary part of Erin’s lifestyle. When she returned from her honeymoon and daily life resumed, she found Pure Barre was the stress relief she craved.

Q| What was it about your gown that prompted you to focus on specific areas of the body? WHITNEY: “My dress was a form fitting, mermaid style so I needed to be toned everywhere. I definitely wanted the dress to be a flattering fit, not revealing or tight.” ERIN: “I decided I needed to tone my body once I tried on my gown in November 2014. It was sleeveless, fitted, and had a low back.” DEANNA: “When I found the ‘perfect’ dress, I immediately started thinking of areas that could use some work. With a strapless dress, I think brides are more concerned with the arms and chest muscles, whereas a backless dress will require more back and gluteal (butt) work.”

My energy levels have surged which gets me through that afternoon slump.” Q| Did you alter your eating habits to reach your “gown goals” faster?

Q| What areas of the body were you focused on and did you see the results you hoped for?

WFL: “I didn’t change my diet since I typically eat clean during the week. You can enjoy everything with moderation and portion control.”

WFL: “The only thing I intentionally started incorporating more was core and waist line exercises. I wanted the dress to fit the right way,
