The Namib is the oldest desert in the world and home to the gigantic dunes of Sossusvlei, one of Africa’s most iconic sights. The nearby NamibRand Nature Reserve is a superb place to honeymoon thanks to some of Africa’s most sophisticated and romantic properties. The piece de resistance is Wolwedans Private Camp, a beautifully designed private (as the name would suggest) lodge several miles from the main Wolwedans camp where a couple can spend a day or two in blissful solitude, with gourmet meals delivered to order but otherwise left alone to enjoy the silence and the views of dramatic mountains and roaming oryx from one of the all-time great hammocks.

New Zealand is an awfully long way away, so when better to explore than on honeymoon? MALDIVES Some pictures of the Maldives make them look almost Photoshopped. The good news? The islands really are that beautiful. GREECE

Blue features big in Greece – bright blue skies, deep blue sea, and even blue doors, traditionally to ward off evil spirits. We suspect just being in a place as beautiful as the Greek Islands does that job pretty well. The ancient Greeks believed the violet flower was a symbol of love, so find a door like this one and thank the gods you chose to come here on honeymoon.
