The concept behind designing these blocks to form a vocational training centre was to make it persuasive. I wanted it to be appealing to students as well as the people passing by.
Due to special education students’ wide range of needs, design resource rooms and self-contained special education classrooms not only to accommodate, but also to maximize each child’s potential.
These welcoming and inclusive rooms are accessible in a way that the layout enables teachers and professionals to access student areas easily.
The circulation is minimized to reduce the physical work of the students. The choice of material, lighting, ventilation and overall language of the building creates an appropriate environment for better learning.
All spaces are naturally lit and well ventilated, fire protected and well equipped keeping in mind the user group. The institute consist of classrooms, a library, kitchenet and dining area, multipurpose hall to accommodate all students and an outdoor play area.
The design offers exposure to a brief centered around “difference”, Difference in the requirements of the client, Difference in how you and the users will interact in this space and Difference in how the autistic and dyslexic minds will perceive and experience the built space.

NALUKETTU Material Studio 2021
Semester Iii

Kerala is known for its greenery , warm natives and delicacies. A typical huge house, designed to respond the climate of the state is called the NALUKETTU.
Following the research, the very appropriate material to construct a home for a Keralian family is Rammed Earth according to me.
The design is all about clutter free interior which stress largely on the traditional architecture and design native to the state.
Following the Vaastu Shashtra , the entry of the house is at the North. The roofing is one of the element that will definately catch your attention at once.
Since it is a zone of heavy rainfall, the roof of the house is pitched.
Clay tiles supported by sturdy wooden rafters have been used. They serve an important function of keeping the house cool and the roof pitch has been designed in such a manner that it helps in easy drainage of water off the roof.
There is a cental courtyard which also serves as a kund during the rain.It is also used for working , gathering and sometimes keeping small livestock.
An elevated walkway runs around the courtyard , connecting all the blocks and making it one.
The whole project has been designed at a pick of only the local materials that are available.
