BRIEF : The aim of the competition was to design a studio which is open for design dialogues , a studio that is innovative in terms of its architecture & interiors and a studio that is beyond glass cubicles & breaks the monotony of a conventional office.
The studio has been designed around the concept that architecture is not practiced in solitude, it is a product of collaborations and discussions.
As one traverses through the building, volumes vary from single and double heights spaces rising to triple heights bringing excitement and visual connectivity across all floors.
Thus, by providing a free and flexible structure and program inside the cube, it encourages dialogue and conversation creating what is in its truest sense, ARCHITECTURE.
The structure’s simplicity speaks of the rapid construction process while visually expressing the box’s ability to grow equally on all four sides .
The slender red door connects to the heart of the box.
Reflecting the project’s embedded potential for evolution, the exoskeleton also makes it slightly visible to the people outside and open-ended character of the studio, giving the end users the ability to shape and adapt the space over time.
Engaging with context doesn’t have to exclude the ability for them to think about design and construction differently, aiming to help move architecture forward.
And they seem to be proving that simplicity can become the greatest asset.
