elcome to Part II of our Fashion Week Chronicles edition. The team is back after covering both New York and London Fashion Weeks to give you a unique perspective on the latest Spring/ Summer 2017 collections -- filled with peek-a-boo skin via cutouts or see-through fabrics to long, flowing tassels and layered ruffles, we saw it all. Not only will you see the latest fashion trends from the catwalks and presentations, but we’ll also be sharing stories and highlights from London in this edition. There’s always time to explore this magnificent, cosmopolitan city -- from the Tate Modern to Borough Market. And for the first time, we’re kicking it all off with two videos capturing a few of the runway and presentation highlights from both fashion week events. The Venues of LFW D
ay 1 of London Fashion Week greeted us with dark, stormy skies and even though umbrellas paraded their way to the primary venue, Brewer Street Car Park in Soho, a bit of rain wasn’t going to stop the fashionistas from seeing the latest Spring/ Summer 2017 collections. Inside the car park, there was also the Designer Showroom which showcased a multitude of designer booths and stands, too many to see in one day. Beyond the Brewer Street Car Park, we made our way to the other venues either on foot, via the Tube or on the shuttle buses available to registered attendees. Fortunately for us, the skies cleared after day 1 and cooler, drier temperatures prevailed throughtout the rest of fashion week. For us, the best part of going from one venue to another was the opportunity to see the sights of London -- there’s so much to see and there’s always a way squeeze in a few photos along the way.

y travel philosophy is to always experience and explore as much as one can during any adventure. In between the catwalks and presentations of London Fashion Week, I’d find every opportunity to discover parts of London which I had never seen before. This time around, the Tate Modern was calling my name and it seemed apropos given that all the fashion I had been seeing was forward thinking artistry. I definitely picked the right place for some quick exploration on an overcast Sunday afternoon. I approached the industrial looking exterior by crossing the River Thames via the Millennium Bridge while being tempted by the wonderful aroma of roasted nuts being sold by several vendors along the stretch. Once inside and after ascending several levels, I found my self criss-crossing the structure and admiring a myriad of modern art, some which left me wondering, questioning and contemplating the meaning. While there were a few exhibits on the uppermost floors which required an entrance fee, the majority of the Tate Modern is free and there’s plenty to see. One can’t-miss-opportunity is taking a break from the art and gazing out from the upper level balconies overlooking the River Thames, the Millennium Bridge and the majestic St. Paul’s Cathedral on the opposite bank.

ander over to Borough Market, situated under the railway lines in the Southwark area of London, and you’ll discover a foodie paradise. Over 1000 years old, this market offers everything from meats and fish, cheese, baked goods to fantastic street food and delicacies that will tempt you at every turn. Bring your wallet and a big appetite to make the most of your experience. Wander from stall to stall and when you’ve made up your mind and selected a meal (or two), head on over to the nearby river walk along the Thames to enjoy your meal with fantastic views of the London skyline.
