Building Permits: Aarons Workshops are engineered to meet local Council and building regulations and qualify as a 10A timber structure. The permits team at Aarons communicate on your behalf with Council, engineers, certifiers and other bodies to streamline the legal processes and to eliminate any complications that are sure to be encountered for people not familiar with the building process. Your sales team will organise an appointment for an initial site inspection and with your approval, mark out the exact position of where your new Aarons Workshop will be erected. The timeframe for the permit and authorisation process, prior to building, is usually between eight and twelve weeks. Your sales person can provide you with further information in regards to our professional certification processes. The Permit fee charged includes site inspections, structural drawings, engineering certificate, site plans, building permit application, title and land information. However, on occasion, there may be additional fees requested by your city council and you will be informed of any variation or additional cost. Builders warranty insurance may also be required, please enquire with your sales person. Our permits team can also provide advice should you require a planning permit (please note, Aarons permit charge is for a building permit only).

If you require a 1A habitable dwelling for your teenager or other family member, without the need for a kitchen or laundry, our Workshop range can be fitted out to become a bungalow style home in your backyard. These ‘Cabins’ are a more affordable alternative than a Granny Flat, whilst maintaining the same modern features. A 1A permit will be required for this option. Ask in store for more information.

With its solid construction, moisture resistant yellow tongue flooring and kiln dried treated pine joists, an Aarons shed can go directly onto any ground surface provided it’s perfectly level.
A subfloor is ideal for un-level sites and eliminates the need for site preparation. Posts are standard at 750mm long and can accommodate sites that are up to 400mm out of level, or posts can be supplied longer if your site has greater fall.
