DAYTIME & EVENING COURSES
DAYTIME COURSES Dutch for the NT2 State Exam (programme II)
Intensive This course offers a solid basis for using the Dutch language. You will learn Dutch quickly and at a high level, for example to start working or studying at university or HBO level in the Netherlands. After passing the level 4 course you will be able to take NT2 State Exam, programme II. This means you will be able to speak Dutch well and spontaneously and to understand difficult texts, write detailed texts on a wide array of topics, express your opinion and participate in discussions.
State Exam Training
(part of the Dutch for the NT2 State Exam II, level 4) During a week, you will practice with mock exams for every skill, to ensure you will have a good idea of what is expected of you. Participation is also possible if you are not following one of our courses.
Everyday Dutch Extensive (Saturday)
Non-intensive Everyday Dutch is an e-learning course combined with only eight Saturday morning classes. In level 1 you learn how to use everyday expressions and basic sentences, so that you can introduce yourself, do your groceries and engage in simple conversation. In level 2 you learn frequently used sentences and expressions for going shopping, for travelling and for talking to Dutch relatives and friends.
General information You can join at any level, where relevant after taking an entry test to establish your level. There are courses available for beginners up to advanced (CEFR level A1 up to C1, see www.erk.nl). From September 2015 to May 2016 there will be a number of start dates for each course (see year calender). There will be a test at the end of every course. If you pass this test, you will be awarded a certificate which will allow you to progress to the next level. Courses will commence when the required number of participants has been reached, with a maximum of 20. Please visit www.nt2.vu.nl for up-to-date information on the full course and training programme.
After Everyday Dutch 1 you can also continue with an evening course level 2. After Everyday Dutch 2 you can continue with a day course level 2 or an evening course level 3.
Summer course
Will you be in the Netherlands over the summer and do you want to take a course for beginners? Please visit our website for an up-to-date list of the courses we offer.
EVENING COURSES Dutch for work and study
Semi-Intensive Are you working or studying at a high level (HBO or university) and looking for a course which is taught in the evening and requires little self-study? With this course, at the very least you will reach the ‘beginner’ level, but you also have the option of continuing to a higher level. After 6 periods you will be able to speak Dutch well and spontaneously, understand difficult texts, write detailed texts on a wide array of topics, express your opinion and participate in discussions.
Dutch for work and study Quick
If you are a native speaker of German, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic or Afrikaans, it means you will be able to learn Dutch quickly. This course is identical to the course above, but it is taught in half the time. After 3 course periods you will have reached the same level.
Discover (the) Dutch
This course is more than just a language course. You also learn about Dutch culture and society, and explore some of the highlights of the country’s history. You can take this course in a short version in summertime, or in a more extended way during the first or the second semester. For more information, see www.studyabroadinamsterdam.com.
