Dutch at every level Welcome to VU-NT2! On our courses you will learn the language skills you need in order to enjoy living in the Netherlands and to achieve success in your studies or work. Our courses also introduce you to the culture and traditions of Dutch society, and give you the opportunity to expand your network by meeting people with different nationalities, backgrounds and walks of life. The academic standards at VU-NT2 ensure that you will be enrolled in a high-quality course, specifically developed for participants who have completed an appropriate level of secondary education (comparable with Dutch havo or higher).
About the courses • Each year there are several opportunities to start a group course on Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam’s lively campus, right next door to the Zuidas business district. • You will be allocated to the best group for you according to your current level of proficiency and attend one to four classes a week, depending on the course you take. • Your focus will be on improving your spoken Dutch under the expert guidance of highly skilled and experienced teachers. • You will also receive feedback on written homework assignments to help you improve your spelling, grammar, use of register and sentence structure. • The pace is reasonably fast. If you want to take full advantage of the course, it is essential that you also study at home. • Max. number of students: 20 (all courses). • Please visit nt2.vu.nl for Dutch and up-to-date information.
Information for VU students/PhD’s • If your attendance rate is satisfactory and you have passed the final exam, EC credits can be awarded: 2 (Saturday), 3 (evening) or 10 (daytime). This varies per degree programme. Consult your study adviser or the examination board for details. • The reduced prices also apply for prospective students, if you have an admission letter. • VU Amsterdam also offers a preparatory year for non-Dutch students. For more information, please visit vasvu.vu.nl.
VU-NT2 is part of the NUT (Dutch and Flemish Academic Language Centers), partner of IN Amsterdam (expatcenter) and is licensed by Keurmerk Inburgering Blik op Werk (quality label for civic integration). UAF and VU join forces to enable refugee students to (prepare for) study in the Netherlands.
