Forgotten Town, Ideal World, Born Again, Harvest for the World, Whats in a Word, Hooverville, Words, Father, The Bottle and many more The Christians enjoyed huge acclaim in the late 80s and early 90s both in the UK and Europe and often confused people with their band name (in fact just the brothers surname with absolutely no religious connotation!) Still headed by enigmatic lead singer Garry Christian (who very much deserves the Daily Mirror’s description of him as having ‘one of the finest voices in pop) who has only gained in vocal stature (and wit) over the years! the band are enjoying a revival currently touring successfully in the UK and Europe. February is a great time for the blues, cold miserable, boring. Christmas gone, Easter nowhere near. That’s why everyone in the know looks forward to the Broadstairs Blues Bash. It really is a great thing to look forward to. There are three things you should know about the Broadstairs Blues Bash. Firstly it’s in Broadstairs. Everyone knows Broadstairs right? It has music all year long, lots of great pubs, excellent restaurants and a sandy beach to rival Biarritz. Secondly it’s Blues all night long 24/7 or rather 24/3. That’s Friday 22nd Feb from about 6pm to Sunday 23rd at 11pm. Get yourself a cute little B & B and walk into town. It’s a great place to visit anyway, let alone over 60 great blues bands all playing FREE ADMISSION. We’ve got country blues old school blues rock blues all blues, all day all over town. And thirdly it’s a bash, a celebration a festival of the blues and there will be 100s and 100s of people looking for the best blues they can. There is one ticketed gig on Saturday night in the Pavilion which is the legendary Zoot Money and the Big Roll Band supported by Troy Redfern showing what a diverse place the blues world is. It would also see the birth of a band that would start as an idea to electrify traditional music and would go on to become one of the most enduring stories in the folk world and beyond.
