An Evening with
Marilyn Monroe
Written, created and performed by Isabella Bliss, international star of both screen and stage. The show takes the audience on a journey through the life of one of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Staying true to Marilyn’s character as an actress, singer and comedienne, Isabella encapsulates and breathes life into her tribute act through her dedication and attention to detail. Isabella’s similarity with her ‘blonde bombshell’ looks and personality are almost hauntingly uncanny. This makes her show one of the most authentic Marilyn experiences. The show has two 40 minute sets with numerous costume changes and include some of Marilyns most memorable songs from her legendary movies.
Diamonds are a girls best friend. I want to be loved by you My heart belongs to Daddy Let’s make love. In between these iconic songs and performance Isabella interacts with the audience as Marilyn sharing funny anecdotes and stories about the trials and tribulations of her life as Hollywoods most famous sex symbol. In one of the sketches Isabella searches for a potential husband which means audience participation much to the delight of everyone. It is an interactive, unique, funny and fully engaging experience as a tribute show and Isabella’s portrayal of Marilyn is heartlet and totally authentic. “I was taken on a journey in time and for a while I thought I was JF Kennedy – miraculous performance” Dr Voice (coach to the stars)

With only a few weeks to go before Kent’s biggest blues festival we caught up with Nigel Feist the man behind Broadstairs Blues Bash to find out how it is all coming together. So Nigel are you looking forward to February 21 22 23? Yes indeed this is our 12th year and I know I say this every year but it actually is bigger and better than last year. How much bigger? Well this year we actually have over 80 events in 22 venues all over Broadstairs. It’s incredible to believe all this came from one small weekend 12 years ago! And what should people watch out for? Well apart from all the brilliant bands, there is plenty of opportunity to join in. Saturday midday in the pavilion we are holding free workshops for people to come and play the blues. We have a drum work shop, guitar workshop and I’m doing a harmonica workshop. You can drop in and learn from scratch or come in and show off how much you know! Also there is a 4 hour jam in the pavilion on the Sunday starting at noon as well. This is a great event and attracts amateur musicians and also many of the artistes in the festival drop in and jam. It’s very exciting and you don’t know what’s going to happen next. And is it true you accompany everyone on harmonica whether they want it or not? Not everyone, there was at least one band I didn’t get to last time... So is it all free? Everything is free except the Saturday night gig in the Pavilion that is £17 and headlining this year are the mighty Dr Feelgood. Tickets are going very well. They are supported by the Grimms who play a similar style of no nonsense Essex blues. How are tickets going? Tickets are going really well. You can get them online or in person at the pavilion. I’m pretty sure we’re going to sell out so don’t leave it too long before you get them. So how can people find out what’s going on? Well, all the venues have programmes for sale which is basically every pub in Broadstairs. In there you can find out about all the bands and where and when they are playing. You can also find out about festival merchandise which is available in The Wrotham Arms and Neptune’s Hall and Pavilion. We’ve got T shirts, mugs, badges, umbrellas (yes really) all sorts. Also this year we’re going to be doing an event up at Gadds brewery on Pyson’s Road Industrial Estate. There is a band playing at 2pm on Saturday. As you can imagine there are lots of beers to choose from!! So when should people come down? Well we start at 6pm on Friday and go right through to Sunday 11pm so I would stay for the whole weekend. You don’t want to miss a thing! Every event is attended and introduced by the BBB crew just to make things go smoothly and I want to say a massive thank you to all of them for their hard work in putting this weekend together. So a big thanks to the BBB team. They work so hard over the weekend. You’ll see them all round the town, sporting their BBB lanyards, introducing the bands, locating lost property, negotiating drinks after hours, running up and down Harbour Street with items of drum hardware and offering close protection to the festival organiser. In no particular order, thanks to Daves Dorman, Parish and Tappy, Judy, Peters Sparrow & Tierney, Geoff Pine, Kenn Wards, The Frank, Rita, The Headleys, Linda, Carol & Terry, Alan, Paul , Nick, Mac, Brian & Caz. Big thanks to them. If you see them, say thank you and lay it on thick! So please put the 21 22 and 23 Feb in your diaries and come out and support the festival bringing the music we love to the town we adore.

Springtide Cavalry originally started in 2005, Releasing an EP with tracks such as “Fire of Youth” and “No Shortcuts”. There were obvious nods to bands such as The Get Up Kids and Death Cab for Cutie, with Saves The Day style riffs teasing the vocals. The band toured their own material extensively over the next few years, gaining a loyal fan base across Kent. “It wasn’t an easy decision. There was a moment I thought that was the end of the band”. STC came to a halt. “I called Sean and I asked how he felt about playing bass?” The band underwent a line-up change. “I wasn’t sure what the hell I was doing. I was a guitarist, not a bass player”. The band quickly recorded their next EP, hosting tracks such as “Runaway” and “Not Talkin”. Touring up and down the UK. They quickly became associated with the national mod circuit, supporting bands like The Purple Hearts and Simon Fowler (Ocean Colour Scene). They headed back to the studio. “Tides” was the first song that signaled the new wave, the ability to stay true to their roots but allowing their writing to achieve more depth. For whatever reason, the band parted ways. Age? Families? LIFE!? 2012 was the last gig. Their farewell gig in Dover was greeted with an army of fans. “You couldn’t get in the pub, they were

turning people away!” Kev and Andy started 2019 with a spontaneous jam. They quickly released that there were new songs there and this saw Weeksy and Sean get the call to see where things could lead. “It was only really a bunch of mates getting together, re-living what we love”. Their first gig back in 2020 was to a full house. Fans travelling from afar to catch the four southerners rip through old and new tunes. People scrambled against the outside windows to catch a glimpse of the new line up and tried to squeeze their way in. “We have new tunes.
