WDC students earn college credits while attending WDC High School At Wadena-Deer Creek High School, juniors and seniors can take up to 30 college credits without leaving the high school campus! These courses are taught by WDC high school faculty with master’s degrees who qualify to teach as adjunct college instructors. WDC offers college-level courses in algebra, biology, calculus, English, and public speaking. These courses provide students college-level rigor and experience! Here’s the best part – it costs the students and parents nothing! There are no fees, no tuition bills and no costly books! The agreement between WDC and M|State covers all the expenses. WDC students can complete their freshman year of college during high school and become a “Senior to Sophomore”!
Jennifer Craig gained mental readiness, saved thousands and a jumpstart on her college degree Jennifer Craig completed an impressive 29 credits when she graduated from Wadena-Deer Creek High School in May 2015. She currently attends the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, where she will graduate with a four-year degree in just three years, while most of her peers will need to go into five years. Furthermore, her 29 credits saved her a whopping $33,350 in tuition and close to another $800 in textbooks.
Jennifer says there are many benefits beyond saving money. “Clearly, senior to sophomore program saves you a significant amount of money, but there are so many unsung benefits. College classes taught me time management, discipline, and critical thinking. I have no doubt that they helped me score higher on the ACT than I would have without them. Getting a higher score was a huge factor in getting my scholarship from the University of St. Thomas, which cuts my costs in more than half. Also, I cannot praise our College Writing/College English class enough! It has saved my life in every subject in college. You will write so many papers, emails, and resumes, and at the college-level and beyond, they don’t accept highschool level writing.” 001414467r1
