GENERAL NOTICE

MINNESOTA BOARD OF ANIMAL HEALTH EXHIBITION OF LIVESTOCK & POULTRY IN MINNESOTA SUMMARY OF STATE RULES FOR 2021 EXHIBITIONS GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: All animals must be examined by the official veterinarian on the day they are admitted to the exhibition and at least once daily during the exhibition. Prior to entering a public exhibition, animals must meet the requirements for exhibition, importation, and intrastate movement as defined by the board. No animal may enter or be at a public exhibition that is showing clinical signs of any infectious, contagious or communicable disease, including ringworm and warts. CATTLE: Cattle must be individually officially identified. Please see the attachment on or go to our website. http://www.mn.gov/bah/board/rules/exhibition-rules.html SHEEP & GOATS: Sheep and goats must be officially identified. No sheep or goat that is within 30 days of giving birth may be exhibited without prior approval from the Board of Animal Health. SWINE: Swine must be individually officially identified. HORSES: Horses, except suckling foals accompanying a negative dam, must be negative to an official EIA test conducted within 12 months prior to the opening date of an exhibition. DOGS: Dogs four months of age or older must be accompanied by a certificate of rabies vaccination documenting that the dog is currently vaccinated for rabies. RABBITS: POULTRY: Chickens, turkeys, and game birds, except baby


poultry, must be individually identified with a leg or wing band. Chickens, turkeys, game birds, and hatching eggs from these birds must be accompanied by a certificate or test chart to show that they originate from a hatchery or breeding flock that is classified pullorum-typhoid clean or are negative to a pullorum-typhoid test within 90 days prior to the opening date of the exhibition. Turkeys and turkey hatching eggs must be accompanied by a certificate or test chart to show that they originate from a hatchery or breeding flock that is classified Mycoplasma gallisepticum clean and Mycoplasma synoviae clean or are negative to a Mycoplasma gallisepticum and a Mycoplasma synoviae test within 90 days prior to the opening date of the exhibition.

ENTRY RULES & REGULATIONS 1. Entries in Home & Hobbies & Ag ort. Building must be in by Wednesday, June 16 at 6:00pm. Articles must be in place by 6pm for judging at 6:30pm. 2. Entries in Flower Department must be in by 6pm on Wednesday, June 16. 3. All articles entered are to remain on exhibition until 6pm, Sunday, June 20. The society will not be responsible for loss or damage, every precaution will be taken. 4. No animal or articles unworthy of premium shall receive one even though there be no competition nor shall any animal or article receive a higher premium than its merit demand. 5. No changes or alterations will be permitted after the books are placed in the hands of the judges; all persons making entries must be sure that the article or animal is placed in the appropriate class, or it will be the duty of the judges to rule out any article or animal not answering to the entry. 6. Exhibitors or stock will be required to keep the stalls open and stock uncovered from 12pm to 10pm during each day of the exhibition. Exhibitors must keep stalls clean and neat during the fair. 7. Any person attempting to interfere with the awarding committee during the adjudication, shall forfeit the premium he or she might otherwise be entitled to in that division. 8. No article or animals shall compete for more than one cash premium, except as part of a collection or herd, as for a sweepstake premium. 9. All protests and appeals from the decision of the awarding committee must be in writing to the secretary before the close of the fair. Final decisions on protests will be made by the Board of Directors.

Wadena County Fair Barn Rules

• Animals must be kept clean • Animals must be maintained and look presentable to the public from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. • All exhibitors are responsible for feeding/caring for their animals during the time they are at the fair. Herdsmanship award will be forfeited if others are found caring for the animals. • Manure must be picked out at all times and placed in the manure bays. Barn must be clean by 10 a.m. each day. Stalls must be cleaned out and freshly bedded by that tie. It is expected that all exhibitors help keep the barn and surrounding areas clean at all times. • Swine must use shavings as bedding. • Water pails will be removed after watering animals. Swine will be allowed water tube at all times. • Only livestock fair exhibits allowed in animal barns. • There will be NO water fights in the barn or surrounding area. • No smoking in the barns. • All exhibitors must clean stalls into center aisle at the end of the fair.

• Registration papers shall be presented for all entries on demand from superintendent. WCAS Rules: • Exhibitors not already at the fair must be stalled and checked in by 10:00 a.m. Friday June 18 and leave following the show. Please enter at the Cedar Ave E. Gate, 2 blocks N of Hwy 10. • All animals must be checked by fair vet or fair personnel. • No bedding or straw provided, Indoor stalls or outside tie-out area available on a first come basis. Limited electricity, generators encouraged.

Cattle Regulations:

• *All livestock must have a MN Identification Tag. There will be a $5 charge to be tagged by Fair Veterinarian at the fair. • Minnesota State Board of Animal Health Rules and Regulations will be strictly enforced by the official veterinarian, and full information may be obtained from them. • All Livestock Exhibitors must bring their own feed and bedding. All livestock exhibits must be in place by Wednesday, June 16 by 10 p.m. • The base date for computing age of all entries in the dairy breeds shall be September 1 and March 1. • All livestock tests and certificate cost must be borne by the exhibitor.

• Exhibitors arriving Friday will pay a $5/ class entry fee. Entry fee waived for exhibitors staying the duration of the fair. • Breed classes must have a minimum of 5 total head/class or the fair reserves the right to combine breeds. • Pre-entry not required • *All livestock must have a MN Identification Tag.
